Good review, really liked. It’s not usual to watch a review on a knife of a person whom you have known for a long time on a RU-vid channel. The creator of this knife generally began with repairing shoes and then knives, and now he himself has become a designer (he himself is from Ukraine). Congratulations on your first knife and success in the future. Thanks for the review!
The word ‘Neformat’ can be translated to English as ‘Misfit/Outsider’ basically as something uncommon, not typical or suitable for a given environment) it’s actually a nice name for a knife! I particularly like the blade shape on this one! By the way, the designer, Ruslan Skimen, is from Ukraine and he is a very cool guy! He has a knife repair channel on youtube as well.
I think Adimanti is Ganzo's designer line. Not entirely sure, but I think it's the line they're going to be releasing the knives that come from independent designers.
Mos Matic do you machine? Or do any custom work yourself...? I have to ask because I saw some read comments trying to help shelardcc and you have some incredible info you had for the wood scales, and trying to keep them from warping. JT likes to mod which you probably already know, but I thrive on seeing other people’s custom and homemade stuff. If you have anything modded or if you make anything, it would cooler than hell to see some work. I’m a beginner and I fell deep when I found JT’s channel and realized I wasn’t alone here. JT makes some rad stuff too if you didn’t know, but I’m sure you’re here because of that! JT is the most honest reviewer I’ve found along with MEtal complex.
Good looking knife. Ganzo is going in the opposite direction from most knife companies with the Adimanti: a budget brand introduces a slightly upscale knife, instead of the other way around.
Great review. The blade reminds me of an Al Mar . That FH71 is a really nice knife. It only recently left my pocket because I got in some new knives (Sage5LW, & Elementum). They make some really good knives for a very reasonable price.
I like ganzo for the most part. I have two that have bad lock rock issues that have the “axis lock” on them. The other ganzo I have, had side to side to side play and if you cease the play, the blade stops moving, while being on a rotating free spinning pivot 🤕. Every time I try, I like things about it, but that lock starts to click around and feel unsafe in almost every case as I used to use ganzos for hard use and for cardboard etc - but some ganzos are so hit and miss - I have to ask how the up and down lock rock is - if there is any. I have the issue where it always feels rigid out of box but with use, it starts to wear in to the point of getting loose and also giving blade play. I hope that they have resolved this issue, because there are some good models. Love your channel - I have to get some photos to you soon. Got a knife from you in the collection. Got a few customs and some budgets and all in between. I have 6 customs and some midtechs and it’s a collection that has happened by accident, over a two or three year span. Ganzos in the bunch, sitting next to Olamics and les voorhies lol. I’m like Pokémon, gotta catch them all.
I haven't thought about comparisons yet, but that clip tells me that somebody important at Ganzo likes the current-generation ProTechs. (Not a bad place to find inspiration.)
JT that seemed like a very good knife. Could probably either file or grind the glass breaker off it needs to be removed. The action especially after disassembly was very good. My only complaint is since the G10 is so thin why did they keep the party on the show side only as LTK would say. I think it would then justify the price a little better as they are trying to compare to CJRB price wise. Quality wise I would compare them to other Ganzo's. Not sure about the Firebird line. Thanks for showing this knife.
Hey JT, nice review as always! "Neformat" (from russian неформат) is a jargon word that means something that is not ordinary/fresh/out of the box. I guess that some people might say that the name doesn't fit this knife and it's kinda pale, but I see some interesting ideas that Ruslan has implemented. Full-size steel framelock under 5 oz. with lots of milling on the lock side (which is not very common, because manufacturers tend to mill the "show" side or make it all G10 without the steel liner) and overtravel stop with a blade type that can be pushed in both slicing (food prep) and stabbing (self-defence type) roles. I am not sure if I would order this, but the price is tempting.
Thanks for your take on it. I know plenty of people arent happy that this costs more than other Ganzos, but you make a great point as to why it is worth it!
It's nice they are making some new designs from Russian makers... But I won't ever buy one. I hate ganzo and there blatant copying of everyone. They built there name off of that. They also have a reputation for poorly making knives which people say otherwise in recent models. Not to mention the shills that shill them because they got them for free and don't care about them steeling the latest companies designs. Spyderco escorted the ganzo out after they tried to spy on the prototype knives. Even though they were warned no pictures. Very shady brand.
I've always found it odd they keep the Ganzo name. If they started putting knives out under a completely different name we'd have almost no way of finding out it was really them, and they could get a clean slate of reputation. Odd.
The pocket clip is totally reversible, you just have to make a notch in g10 ,it is very easy to do. The only thing I don't like about this knife is the stainless steel on a handle instead of titanium
Pretty safe design for a 'new' brand, kind of bland, actually. Not seeing the extra cost versus the FH51 or FH71. I hope they have more, better designs coming with at least s30v steel and fix the clip.
They have sharpeners and shovels on their website. it looks like its alike a premium version of Ganzo, but I am not really feeling it myself, at least compared to their other D2 knives. My biggest issue with them is Weight, and unfortunately this on is both heavier, and more expensive. I still like the F21 the best. the 41 looked like it would be better, but it wasn't at least in my opinion. I haven't held a 71, but i am not a fan of its appearance. adimanti.com/
Purple knives are always fun to see. D2, not so much. But thanks for bringing in an uncommon knife. JT, I feel like I am looking at a boudoir photo, when I watch your vids. Is your camera lens clean?
