A black sheep can be seen as bad at the time of its release (or even now) and needs someone to speak of the positives for the flick. The Gate II is, well, it’s all of that. It’s a mostly unseen and unknown movie in a short horror series that is not really loved by the people who have seen it. With the first movie in the series being a spooky kids classic, I’m here to tell you that not only is the Gate 2 worthy of the Gate moniker and worth your time and attention.
WATCH OR OWN THE FILM HERE: shorturl.at/Ye8Fo
Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield
Edited by Brandon Nally
Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon
Executive Producer by Berge Garabedian
SERIES SYNOPSIS: THE BLACK SHEEP features different takes on horror films that the masses or/and critics didn't care for but that we found merit in. We defend horror movies that deserve more love!

The original gate really was scary as a kid especially when he sees the eyeball in his hand sooo freaky and terrifying but so awesome at the same time

Ya, I saw the original as a kid, and it scared me so much. I mean, it's about a kid surviving from Demon's, and nobody believes him.

THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to remember what movie this was for the last 30 years! I have tried describing it to people, and no one remembered a movie like it. Started to think I hallucinated it.
@gimmethepinkelephant3685
@gimmethepinkelephant3685 3 месяца назад
How did you try to describe it to folks?.... "Kid brings forth Demon that grants wishes that later turn into poop"?😂 Anyhow, I actually got to see this in the theater when it came out. I loved the first one. It was constantly playing on HBO around late 1987 into 1988 and I would watch it almost every time it came on. So when this came out in the theater I rushed to see it... It wasn't as good as the first, but it was still a lot of fun and a serviceable sequel.
@heteropraxgaming5835
@heteropraxgaming5835 3 месяца назад
@gimmethepinkelephant3685 actually, I described it as "an 80s movie with little gremlins. One gets shot and comes back after the bullet comes out. At some point, kid dies, but then comes out of his own coffin still alive." Edit: Note that even Google couldn't spit out the name with that description, so I had it chalked down to a hallucination or that I remembered it wrong

Omg me too! I would tell people all I remember is these guys at a restaurant and they tried to pay and the money turned to poop. I felt so damn crazy. I told them the only other thing I remember is them all embracing at a funeral when they should have been dead. 30 years later I'm describing this exact thing and a coworker blurts out " oh it's the gate 2." I lost my mind and sent him a $100 on cash app lmao.

I had sort of forgotten that Nirvana came out that early. For some reason '92 was always stuck in my head. But yeah, Bleach was released in '89-'90.... Anyhow, I did the same thing. My friend Ryan and I went to see this when it came out. We were both huge fans of the first one so we caught this the moment it hit theaters ..lol! It wasn't as good as the first, but it was still fun and a serviceable sequel.... Now after watching this video I'm gonna have to go look up that Louis Tripp short film that Joe Blow mentioned.😂 I didn't even know about that.

How I gave my brother trauma thats lasted 20 years: we watched the first Gate movie many, many times as kids. Then, I bought a geode at a rock shop. Me and my bro thought it was cool. We were gonna crack it together, but I got impatient waiting on him to get home from school. So I broke it open. Underwhelming. Didn't have much space inside. Was mostly solid. But now, I'm gonna get in trouble for not waiting. Brilliant responsibility-shirking plan. I got one of those wax pads, and wrote creepy messages on it "death comes at 2am" and stuff like that. Then I rolled the geode all over it, so the words blended in a bit. Then I put the geode bits on top of the pad and left both in my brother's room. He came in and came right to me, asking about the geode. So I said "sure thing. I left it in your room. Go get it and we'll crack'er open." Jesus, the panic. Absolutely inconsolable. And I couldn't rat myself out. No sir. Gotta double down. At exactly 2 am, since his room is next to mine, I put a remote control car under his bed. I scratched the wall, starting gently with my nails, getting harder and harder, until I heard his bed creak. When I knew he was probably near the wall, trying to figure out the noise, I floored the gas on the car, and I have never heard a more bloodcurdling shriek in my entire life. It touched his foot. To this day, he avoids all gem and rock related things, and thinks that people into crystals are evil. I feel bad, but I'm also extremely proud of my work.

So the demons from The Gate are some of the only monsters that ever really scared me. I Loved these movies, and I own them both on dvd, VHS and in digital formats. The demons as it turns out are men in suits and they used forced perspective to make them seem so small. Guillermo DelToro made a remake of "don't be afraid of the dark" and did the same thing. Freaked me out pretty bad with the fairies. I was pregnant with my son at the time, and could not see even the commercial for the movie on TV or I Would not sleep. hahaha The footprints in this series matched the ones from Paranormal Activity and that freaked me out pretty good too. It is To this day one of the very few things that freaked me out, and I couldn't possibly tell you why. Thanks for bringing these to more people's attention.

I was a huge fan of The Gate as a kid and I remember being so excited for this to come out once I saw the first teaser for it in the family video store. The disappointment I felt after finally seeing it was immeasurable. I tried revisiting it a few years ago and was equally let down. It just doesn't hold a candle to the first. It feels as if the studio wanted to ride on the home video cult success of the first and they just threw this together, likely shoehorning Terry and the demons into an unmade script they had laying around.

I was never sure why the original was called 'The Gate' and why the sequel made sure to drop the 'The' and just leave it as 'Gate II.' I was always interested in seeing this as a kid but actually never did until I was an adult about 7 or 8 years ago when it was free on RU-vid. It was entirely underwhelming and your basic run-of-the-mill 80s indie forgettable horror schlock. Was cool to see the one kid make a return.

Watched the first movie a few times throughout my early childhood. Man when I was like 6 or 7 years old I can remember standing a couple feet away from my bed and jumping in it. I did this every night till I was like 8 years old because I was in fear that those hands under the bed would also be under my bed. My Dad, brother and I referred to them as "the gate hands".

I saw both of these movies in the theaters. I used to read Fangoria in the stores all the time,because I didn't have an actual subscription. I was a younger kid (maybe about 10-12) when I found out what Fangoria was. I was on top of the information when that sequel was being talked about and with on set pics. It was a pretty fun and gross movie. Same with Evil Dead II in the theaters. I didn't get the joke at first with Evil Dead II but grew to love it when I realized what it was and why it was like that. 80's horror have a special practical nostalgia that will NEVER go away.

My sister had a VHS someone gave her that had Fangoria Weekend of Horrors and some extra interviews on it. One was on The Gate, where they mention their idea for the sequel. The general idea was that in the first movie the Gate had only been open a crack... and in the second one it would engulf the entire neighborhood. If anyone knows where to find that interview let me know, think they were one of the extra ones but who knows. Sadly I think the budget they were offered made them scale down that idea a lot. I would LOVE to see another where we get our full blown demonic invasion.

The Gate 2 was a disappointment for me, for a sequel to the first movie which was a hit, Gate 2 looked cheap and didn’t have the intrigue , excitement and eeriness of the first. Granted it isnt an awful movie, but it just feels too small for a sequel. When we finally get to the demon world I was like “about time” but even that wasn’t as exciting as it should’ve been. Everything was over lit making the animation and creature designs look too phoney.
