If you look closely, Ryo’s eyes (specifically iris and pupil) continues to shake the whole time ever since Akira showed up. That’s some very specific attention to detail in the animation.
I think the saddest part of this scene (after seeing the whole series) is knowing that THIS is all Ryo wanted. He just wanted a real friend to actually care about him. Akira worries about him, feeds him, encourages him, challenges him and forces him to have fun and get out. Ryo never understood emotions, longing or love, so he figured there was no point in anything on the whole planet. He didn't figure it out until he destroyed everything Lesson learned the hard way, I guess. Now he knows what feelings are, but now he has to live with knowing that he lost all of them and it was his own fault for losing them. Tragic.
has anyone noticed that the background music is a cute xylophone version of D.V.M.N (the song that plays when Akira first becomes devilman and slaughters all the demons)?
The worst part is that this may not be the first time Ryo/Satan has gone through this. It's implied that he's stuck in a sort of endless time loop where he kills Akira - the person he loves most - over and over in these events as punishment for rebelling against God. If you take the view of God being kind and merciful, one might say God was trying to teach Satan something that he had trouble learning. If you take God to be a massive asshole, then he's just tormenting the guy.
In the devilman universe it's cannon God's a dick. In the official books when it's asked about the affiliations of Characters: ryo/Satan's and any demon Simply says "demons" akira's says "amon" "humanity" "devilmen" but God's simply says evil. Which is telling because even his angels only say "God" "kingdom of heaven ". It seems in the devilman universe God is the only one who is wholly evil. His angel just follow him blindly which is something satan refused to do and seeing as he was the most favorite son God is kind of just being petty because his favorite chose the beings God hates the most over his own father.
@@ECKohns yes every version is a part of the time loop. Devilman lady and one I've forgotten the name of are technically the two with best outcomes because: The one Whose name I have forgotten Ryo actually remembers everything from all his past lives and understands emotions a little bit better which makes him more mature as a result. Although as my previous post points out since heaven is actually The over arching villain of the Each series He does not go back on his plans to fight heaven and if he has to destroy all of humanity. For all the weirdness and torture porn in devilman lady they actually do end up together because Akira finally sees the hypocrisy of heaven and humanity. Not to mention As leader of the devilman it actually makes sense that Akira would choose the side that will would accept the people he chose to led and personally taught and gave hope to. You know instead of humanity on default when part of the whole point of the series was to show that humanity and heaven were just as bad as demons if not worst.
Couple of Interesting facts: even in the main story ryo And the demons don't actually want to fight the devilman as they think it's pointless since devilmen are basically demons themselves. Most devilmen probably wouldn't even want to fight if not for Akira convincing them they're weren't really still human if they didn't fight for the rest of humanity. Akira ends up saving most of them from a lot of life or death situations they are put in because of humans or He pulls them from some of the deepest grief and Essential crisis you never seen than he has them direct their anger towards the demons. Devilmen and demons only fight the way they do (To the point of extinction) because of Akira's grief. When based on context clues we are given, and the one instant we see were akira is not actively pushing his new species to war, they would actually be more at peace living among the demons. A species whose entire existence is based Around adapting to their environment and whatever situation they're in (it's how they Survive the time loops when they remember every thing long before Akira or ryo ever does) An example of how I think they would quickly chill out if they had any sort of problem with the devilmen is the second they realized that Akira is essential to them breaking out of the time loop god has put them in they stop trying To kill him even though they hate him. They are forever loyal to Ryo Because they worrship strength above everything And Ryo will always be more powerful than all of them They even start to kind of grieve with Ryo when the Inevitable ending happens. Which with The exception of devilman lady (and the one time Ryo broke out of the time loop) The tragic ending we see usually happens in some form I don't mean the devilman vs demon war but Akira dying in Satan's arms
I remember watching this scene for the first time and noticing after Akira fed Ryo, Ryo eyes twinkle a bit but his expression looks lost and confused- Bro he encountered the feeling of love at that scene but still did not know what that feeling was until it was to late 😭
honestly this /isnt/ the gayest thing ive seen BUT that doesnt mean it /didnt/ clear my skin, water my crops, pay my bills and feed my family for years..
Really love the voice acting for the dub. I know some thought it was weird but I thought it hit a really sweet spot where I was actually drawn into a world that was similar to my own but inescapably different. Which was solid considering everything else that goes down. Something really raw about the english version of the scene where Akira tells Miki that everyone works hard because they have to.
Honestly, this is my first encounter with the english dub for this anime, and I actually might fo rewatch it in english?? At first it sounded weird, but it grew on me surprisingly quick (I rewound a couple times admittedly lmao) Honestly seems like a good dub imo
DesmyTool English never sounds accurate because it's not the original voice actors and yea the English voice actors don't give a convincing effort when it comes to display of emotion
D.I.C American English has developed to be a lot more casual and less powerful than other languages and because Anime is almost always very dramatic it’s hard for English voice actors to meet up to the the highly emotional and exaggerated standards that most Japanese voice actors can pull of. So that’s why it comes off fake because most Americans don’t ever talk like that. In short American English is subtle and casual while Japanese is a lot more emotional and powerful
Tayeba Hasan its canon.. if u dont "ship" them, it just shows u didn't understand the point of the anime, which is about satan (ryo asuka) falling in love with akira and wanting them to be alone in the universe, in manga they kiss
I'm hella late but the point is that Ryo doesn't feel any type of love or anything until the very end when Akira, his true love and bestfriend, dies So him blushing would have make no sense
the more i read into this story, the more i realize. Ryo is a terrible friend in all aspect, but Akira, started as an innocent boy, asked them to be his friends is like a metaphorfor for how innocent and kind people are the easiest to decieve. personally, i wouldn't want to be around someone who carry gun and shoot at bridges for fun. Akira on the other hand was charmed by ryo's boldness and his own kindness. at the end of that kind of relationship, neither sides are happy nor satisfied
Yeah I really wish it was like that lol, instead their whole relationship was kinda just dog and master, where Lan just orders Jun to kill devils for 20 episodes straight lol
@@theoriginalman9426 still imagining it, where Lan keeps walking off saying she has “paperwork to file”, and Jim tries to get her to lighten up a bit. Devil lady needs a serious revamp.
Jason Rodriguez dude, I saw his lips and I was like the fuck. Then Ryo, Satan, whatever his name was like WhaT iS THiS feElIng AkIRa. All in all this Anime was fucked up, but I like it soooo🤷♀️☠️
Everyone: omg they're so cute! Ship is canon Akira before the final fight: _i'm dying to beat the hell out of you._ _the next time i see you, i'm going to kill you._
Apart from the sexual stuff I think dmcb was really good. I heard ppl dropped it Bc of the uncomfortable scenes but I feel like the story is actually interesting and depressing
Yeah .... I actually didn't like all that nude scene which i think was the whole point of this anime ....it's like what we want to happen will not happen .... We wanted Akira and Miki to be safe or maybe die together but that scene where those people literally dance while her head and body parts were ditached along with others 🥲🥲🥲 that shit made me really angry and sad ...i felt so much rage on those non living 2d characters 💀💀💀💀
