Ok, all kidding aside, Rich has the talent of designing ghetto guns and Mark has a way of refining the designs not to mention he is a great mentor for Rich. What was not mentioned is the specs of the barrel. Is it a true 38/357 rifled barrel ? If not there will be less pressure buildup due to blow by of the gasses similar to the 3/4" pipe slam fire shotguns. Now place a true barrel on a slam fire receiver and see what happens due to the tighter fit. Will the pressure cause issues with keeping the barrel within the receiver? Mark, keep up the good work! We need more mentors like you in the gun world as I am very grateful to my metal shop teacher from high school some 48 years ago who helped me forge a firing pin and heat treat it for a friends antique .22 rifle. It was the start of a wonderful hobby and part time endeavor for me.

From out in left field. Up here in Edmonton Canada there's an HMCS Nonesuch. You might think it a ship but it's a naval reserve building. They treat it like a ship. There's a head and no bathroom and the floor is the deck, walls bulkheads etc. Them prairie boys need to learn the Naval jargon before heading to Esquimalt or Halifax. Thought you might like this utterly useless bit of G2.

missing an extractor, because de momentum of the case is less thant the bolt and the momentom of the case is disapearing by friction force between case and barrel. dont forget that lubrication of case is important in blow back in orde to avoir case separation and case damage. I’d guess the cases coming back at different lengths, is due to the each round containing slightly different amounts of powder .

It is the same problem encountered with 22magnum pistols and rifles. The excess or extreme pressure blows back and out the shell casing. Such is also the reason the KelTec PMR30 is so awesome!!!!!!!

How about a GB22 with ad on barrels of multiple calibers ?

A dead-blow hammer is hollow and is filled with lead shot. the primary characteristic is that the hammer doesn't bounce. You could do something similar with the bolt.

Wouldn't we assume that the AR buffer spring is too stiff? I was skipping around and might have missed the reason why there's no extractor... I swear that the hole idea of the auto cartridge was it's headspace on the front ledge of the casing with a slight taper making the spent shell easy to pull away with the relatively little contact being made. 357 headspaces on the rim in the back and it's also straight walled. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't think I am so my question is what we're you two attempting to accomplish? I don't get it. Seems like dude was somewhat annoyed and to me looked like you picked up on that and sorta rode his train to town. Funny. Thanks for the content.

Oh wow 2yr old Eeh well my only thought was we had what we called 90/10 drag racing shock absorber that would pretty much free fall one direction up usually but back down was a lot of extra drag with the buffer tube could maybe rig up a one direction needle valve would give a little less speed on the bolt return

I actually like the idea of gb rifle would be good in the boat good for camping hiking maybe even for hunting

If you can make a semiautomatic .357 pistol or carbine using a scaled-up 10/22 style "drum" magazine, I'd buy like 20 of them. I've had a loose concept in my head for years using the Benelli style inertial action and easily swappable buffer weights since there's so much variation in different .357 loads. And the 10/22 rotary mag is the only good magazine design for rimmed rounds, in my opinion.

Another dirty gunsmith idea: Echo/Binary trigger gave me an idea for weapon cycling. Its a hybrid open-bolt design. Pull Trigger, weapon fires. Bolt/Slide cycles back, a catch comes up preventing it from returning. Trigger is released, catch is released allowing Bolt/Slide to return and chamber another round. benefit is it should be able to handle any strength of ammunition, subsonic, cold loads, or heavy +P it doesn't matter. Because the slide velocity is irrelevant for cycling reliability - every time it comes forward to strip a round it will be going the same speed. May improve accuracy too. Impact on the shooter should be minimal, most people release trigger as soon as they can, but unless you're Jerry Muicelik (sp) with a full auto finger that catch is going to do its job and arrest any return velocity. Should effectively prevent Double Taps too. This might not even be considered a Semi-Automatic firearm since it does not "Automatically" reload the weapon after each shot. If you hold that trigger down another round is not loaded.
