what's up guys here's another fun video with me messing with the Genesis coupe. if you wanna follow the progress subscribe to the channel for more videos.
Currently the car is down for rod knock. Will be back up and running tho. When It was running it was extremely reliable. It blew up because I did a extremely long burn out bouncing off redline.
do you have the manual or the 8 speed automatic?, im very interested in purchasing a 3.8 grand touring with the auto 8 speed and have been doing a bunch of research and came across your channel while looking up common problems that i could hopefully nick before they bite me in the ass big time. ive been told hyundai drivetrains are unreliable and was wondering if thats actually the case. the car has 94k miles on it andi also saw something about carbon buildup issues around that mileage. im worried because i really love the car but id be using it as a daily/commuter car andwill be esentially keeping it stock since ive also read working on the 3.8 is more expensive bc it is n/a
any tidbits or knowledge you've gained from owning one for so long would be greatly appreciated, as well as if i should just look for a different car alltogether bc you dont think its a good daily, again thanks and i love your car!
@@thecheezburger891 hey what's up man and honestly it all depends on maintenance they do have carbon build up issues but most GDI engines do. As for drive train wise I have the 6speed which has been great to me if you do go to grab one I'd shoot for a 15/16 3.8
@@RspecNick do you know if the 2013 8 speeds have any well known issues regarding reliability? i look online and it seems to be they either have 0 issues with regular maintanence at like 150k miles or they have blown motors/transmissions at sub 40k miles
@@thecheezburger891 honestly it's really hit or miss. Alot of the Genesis guys have been trying to figure out what's the deal with that is it maintenance or poor build quality and it's so back and forth. But most times the cars are blown up or have issues if the car has been beat on the regular with bad maintenance. A small percentage is usually build quality. Now there was a recall for the gen coupe for the rear diff carrier bolts. But I don't remember seeing any TSBs for the 8AT transmissions in them. They are supposed to be a sealed system good for the ownership of the car. But you can open them and drain and refill the oil
