I remember every day,I used to sit with my great grandmother and she would read me this story before bed. To this day I remember this story very well. It’s about life and changes. How sometimes you can’t get everything you want, but some things you don’t need. Thank you for showing me this lesson Ruth/GG(great grandma, what i used to call her.) Rest In Peace, Ruth Esper 1926-2020
I remember my brother who died of cancer. When he was in the hospital, his last words were: "I want to be buried next to mom and dad. Will they still recognize me?"
Same with The Velveteen Rabbit. It's a book for kids that's really for the parents reading them aloud. A cute story until you've lived long enough to get the point.
If there was a sequel to this, the boy, who’s now a man, shows the tree stump something special. Seeds from her first apples long ago. The man tells the tree that he’s a grandpa now. The man’s grandson comes by. The man tells the grandson to plant the seeds for the tree stump.
This was such a sweet and meaningful story. The story was about parents, and how they will always be giving everything to their children, and the parents will be happy as long as the child is happy. :)
That's interesting, I felt this story was about how when growing up, we can take for granted what is given to us and that it is important to acknowledge and give thanks to those who have sacrificed. Especially since he didn't say thank you once throughout the story. It is quite cool to see the different meanings people get from this story.
@@thelandingchannel1896 I actually really liked the message that you got from the story. It is Indeed very interesting to heard how other see this story.
@@thelandingchannel1896 We take the relationship (as kings) with the Tree of Life for granted and we leave the Tree for carnal pursuits that enslave us. The Tree never gives up, but we ruin our lives pursuing what we think we're supposed to do and want apart from the Tree. There's another view of it...one I recently adopted after 40 years of reading it.
So I'm sitting at my desk right now, planning a lesson to teach my students based on Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree when I found this video. And let me tell you, I'm trying really hard to hold it together right now in front of my colleagues!
So just before this I watched a video where shel himself was reading the book. After The Boy takes its trunk to build a boat, he leaves it at the tree was happy. No "..but not really". Those three words drastically change the story. Its a story about unconditional love, but those three words turn it into a selfish thing, taking advantage of said love. I think its interesting that he took those words out in his reading.
That line is read in this version, too, but it's pretty quiet. It's my favorite line in the book so I notice it when it's left out...which it is in some versions.
My teacher used to read this to us every Thanksgiving. We'd all gather round and sat with awe as he read us the story. He would always tell us how we were like his children and how much he cared for us. He loved us like his kids. He taught us to always be kind and give to others in need. Now he's retiring, but I will never forget this important lesson he taught us. 💕
I used to read this book when I was a kid, I rediscovered it today and it brought back memories I didn't even know I had. I never found it as emotional as I do now though 😢
Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece. The Giving Tree is and will always be a bittersweet and melancholic story. Thanks for giving us the heartwarming version and bringing me to tears 🥺
To me it's about how we are never satisfied, we want more and more. At the end we all get old and tired . Our lives past by so fast and we didn't appreciate the things we had or were given to us.
Omgg my dad use to tell this story to me all the time as a kid, but with a sad ending, the old man came back to apologize and enjoy his final moments with the stump but it was gone. It made me so sad 😢
i'm turk and my english teacher put this video in our homework so we could watch this video and give a review of it i already have tears.. qwq so touching
Written by Shell Silverstein, RIP, writer of Sylvias Mother and A boy named Sue and writer of Childrens books and also an Illustrator. This was one of his books
Yes, for sure. He was KARAT, which is the Hebrew for "cut off." I wonder if Shel was a Messianic Jew...hm. But, of course, it didn't end there for Him.
It’s sad because the tree always had something to give, it was never mad, it just gave all it could give until it couldn’t give anymore. It loved him, and put him first even if it meant being alone. I wish I had something or someone like that. That cared for me that much. It’s crazy cause you never know how much you love someone until they’re gone. 😔
The morals, of the story are, 1.) Happiness is in giving. 2.)Also you can't change a greedy selfish narcissist and they end up with nothing and they keep coming back to take from you until youre dead and if they didn't learn anything by the time your a stump that's not on you. 3.) Also trees give us life in many ways. We wouldn't survive without them. Oxygen food a place to live, for fire, boats, shade.4.)He found out he doesn't need anything but a place to BE and his childhood friend TREES ARE OUR FRIENDS!5.) Trees represent life or the giver of life
I feel like to cry soon as I saw that the boy start to grow up and change and require many things to complete his neverending demand. and to get this life lesson when the nature was sacrificed.
Jeez. This is the best production value/quality I've seen on RU-vid. Decent actors too. I hope this was in a film festival or something. Good job, (speaking as a professional actress.) :)
It's very important to like your own comments! It's like creating a coloring book, only to not use your crayons to color in the empty gray thumb into a happy blue one!👍💙
took awhile for me to find a film about this story that I liked. it was for my daughter. this one was perfect! one of my favorite stories growing up. thank u for making this short film.
WHEN My father Told me that when he child he eat sugarapple I front of our Window and my father throw the seed outside many years later the Seed Bacame a Tree Infront of our house The fruits Is very delicous And im thnakful that the three was accidentally Grow when may father eats his favorite Fruit
The tree gave up everything to give the boy a wonderful life. But there is one thing she will never give up. Her love. The boy should thank the tree for everything.
The second one could also be the boy's older brother as well. As for the credits they may have no relation, but this could be entirely possible as well in real life.
Very nice video but I'm going to stick with the book that I read as a teacher to so many children thank you for remembering the story yep I'm going to stick with the book amen this is a powerful lesson that everyone should be taught
True, I agree with not spoiling them, but I suppose the minimum could differ for each person, like incredibly worn-out shoes or small house with leaky roof. That wouldn’t be ideal either though.
This is a great video I also love tree plant and flower my grandmother was also say story sitting on the bed and one more so good but I also cry this is not a bad video that my mother likes this video the tree always give something to the boy good one think I can't andastand that this story is true or flase please you tell me ok by by and thank you for video.
The tree was selfless and that's kinda the heart wearming part. But doesn't that make the boy selfish and an antagonist? Is it because the tree is willing to give up herself that the boy isn't an inconsiderate jerk?
