A founding member of Ireland's most celebrated World Music band Kíla, Rónán Ó Snodaigh is recognized as one of Ireland's best and most innovative bodhrán players and a highly original singer songwriter.
Described by John Walsh (Hot Press) as 'the living embodiment of Turlough O Carolan and Bob Marley', and by a fan as '...The Jimi Hendrix of Bodhrán'
He came down to do a impromptu recording while playing in Sligo reciently and we were delighted to do a Glen Session with him.. Thanks again Big Man!

This man is a force of nature. I could listen to him sing and play all day. Makes me feel like I was living a thousand years ago.

Great job playing of course, but great job by Bernard Hayes - would love to know how you did the sound for this - looks like it would have been a tough environment to get good sound, but your recording sounded great!

This is my favourite of the Glens Sessions as a single voice and a Bodhrán is a beautiful match for the ancient Glen. Ancient instrument for an ancient place. Captures the soul of the place. Happy to see this. Maith thú folks!

As a beginner with the bohdran it's nice to see it used like this. Standing, no tonal hand, and for a tune-not just an exhibition of speed and dexterity.

oh there's plenty of tonal hand playing. Just being used differently than contemporary playing styles.

Check out Ronan's video lessons. He's got a jazz brush in his tonal hand that is touching on and off as quickly as he is playing. There's plenty of tonal hand work going on.

Take a break and Raise the Road before Ya, What a great rocking song this. I got to hear this song for the first time this morning, It is a song that could have been heard and sang 4 thousand years ago yet it is fresh as a daisy and right up to date so sing this song as you go about your daily life and Raise the Road before.

Ronan, 'any relation to Oliver or (Hidden Ulster) Padraig? I'm hooked on the Glen. Sessions. The Bodhran is phenomenal, back to it's original setting. To finish the story you should have reemerged from the wood wandering with another player that you found deep in the woods. Maybe that's how you found Claudia! Seamas O' Braonain
