I grew up in a house like this. It sticks with you forever. They tried welcoming her home as a way to ease the potential unwarranted blowup. You will never know what mood they will be in and at any given moment it can take a turn for the worse. Her daughter grabbing the pillow is literally the only thing she can do to keep herself from absolutely bawling on camera. I’ve heard the mom has mellowed out, but we never know what happens behind closed doors. You learn to read the signs after being there yourself and it’s just so sad. I hope the people involved had some sort of peace after this. ❤️

The "God Warrior "Marguerite Perrin has actually reformed and turned into a strong supporter of LGBTQ rights. I know it's already been mentioned in the comments a few times, but from a lot of the other comments I can see that many people still think she's the same closed minded bigot she was on the show and she just isn't that person anymore. Sadly it took a tragedy to turn her around, but she did turn around. What happened was that in 2007, her daughter Ashley, who was also featured on the show, was killed in a car wreck. Obviously, Marguerite was devastated and it turned out that the kindest condolences and words of support came from individuals in the LGBTQ community. This opened her mind and her heart and now you can find her online and at various events proudly supporting the community that embraced her during her darkest times. She's proof that people can really change for the better.

Her daughter is so scared she grabbed a pillow to put some sort of barrier between her mom and her. This is so sad.

Those are he kinds of kids who end up moving across the country, become atheists and claim they were orphaned at birth. Lol

Apparently after the death of her daughter Ashley she actually chilled out. There are a bunch of articles that say that she’s become a LGBTQ ally and really seems to be expanding her horizons. Just wanted to share a bit of what I read because I appreciate that she’s worked through what she obviously needed to work through and seems to have become a better person overall. From what I read she was in a really deep depression after losing her daughter, even her family and close friends couldn’t talk about her loss with her but a number of gay fans she made from the show reached out with condolences, notes, flowers and really helped her work through her grief/ get her up out of her bedroom. She’s since become very accepting and was even seen at Pride in NYC 2019. She said the kindness from the people who had elevated her in meme status really helped her open her heart and mind. Before Wife Swap she said she didn’t realized that people weren’t Christian outside of her small town but all the support she received exposed her to other ways of thinking. “Who am I to say who goes to hell and who’s going to heaven.”

She actually has changed a lot, this show was back in early 2000's and since then she has done cameo's on a few day time talk shows and opened a dance studio and even embraced the LGBTQ by attending the pride march on different occasions, she now recognises that she was wrong to be so harsh over others beliefs and even mocks herself and the way she behaved after having re-watched herself on TV. In 2007, Perrin's eldest daughter Ashley (featured on the show) died in a car accident.

That entire family has PTSD

A year or so a picture of her at pride in ny went viral! She was standing with a bunch of gay men hugging them (not protesting, lol)! Its actually a sad and touching story! A couple of years after the show her older daughter Ashley (the one in the show) died in a car accident. The woman said the gay community reached out to her and wouldn't leave her alone (in a good way) and they were the only reason she got out of bed. Now she is much more understanding and accepting of people with different beliefs and is really happy -- she runs a dance studio now and has turned down show offers to avoid the limelight. They also have talked about how production did a lot of things while she was in the house like rigging things to move and stuff so it freaked her out. She totally admitted to it not being editing that made her look crazy though lol.

The biggest tragedy is that Ashley (her eldest daughter) died 2 years later in a car crash. She was a voice of sanity in that household. :(

That was actually so smart to give her money for her surgery. To get that one, I think you have to see a psych dr too, before you're approved. Which she obviously needed. Yay. I hope everything worked out for them all 🙂

I grew up in a family like this. VERY religious - we couldn't celebrate Halloween or do anything "evil" related like watching magic shows, or do yoga etc. Its a tough childhood. Luckily we moved away and I got to have semi-normal teenage years.

So I was curious about her and where she was at today and apparently she's had a major change of heart since her daughter died in a car accident. this lady has been so much sheltered her whole life, even in adulthood. seeing how she freaked out at a sight of mandala art or a mention of zodiac or whatever. I don't think she has ever set foot outside her front yard, except to go for grocery shopping or to the local church. And now that she saw people outside her church community, which all is out of norm for her, she didn't know how to handle it. it's like she couldn't believe these people exist out of tv screen. my professors would have a field trip interviewing and observing this lady.

Update: she has become a kinder person. after the show her daughter ashley died in a car accident and that led to this mom getting awkwardly intertwined with the gay community, so much so that she has reportedly become and ally and attends pride. also apparently there were a couple of accidents while filming that really heightened her "this be witchcraft" ideals.
