Francis Ford Coppola originally planned to open the film with the wedding, immediately introducing all the characters. Then a friend pointed out how interestingly he had written the opening scene of Patton (1970). Coppola then re-wrote the opening with the Bonasera scene.

Back then Marlon Brando was the brightest star in the sky, a bit of a bummer that Morgana King didn't have a real interaction with him, would have loved to see them talk with Marlon being fully on Vito's role.

@@joseanibalsantacruzamanzo2202 I think it made sense to make her sort of Mrs Columbo. Vito was a family man, the movie is about the business and he did not mix more family into business than he needed to. The screen time and scenes is even clue to the business of the family. Sonny was always in the centre, Tom was always very valuable, Michael was left out initially, Fredo was compassionate but clueless and good for nothing.
