it's just so easy to fall asleep to his curious curiosity vids and the fact you can watch them so many times for all the parts you were sleeping on is 👌
Let's not forget the man's masterful alliteration. If for whatever reason his RU-vid channel fails he would be a splendid English teacher ! Also he had so much silver in this episode lol
the gold coast was always such a beautiful landscape to wander around, i remember being lost in it for about 3 hours before i finally decided to go into the oblivion gate in front of anvil
I remember when I was really young, my game bugged making it so town music played in the wilderness, and I was hopping around the Gold Coast listening to watchman's ease.
So, we now know of two statues which predate literate human and elven occupation of Tamriel that potentially depict gods; The Selkie of Anvil and the Avian of the Skyforge. So, it appears there was a proto-culture that was very skilled with masonry, spanned from Whiterun to Anvil, and worshiped at least two gods. I think it was some group of the early Nedic tribes, and I'm gunna put my money on the statues depicting Kyne and Dibella.
@@ewantaylor2758 It could also show how the Nedes gradually went from Animal Totem worship to worshipping deities with more human-like depictions. This is, of course, assuming that the Avian was built before the Selkie, but that would make sense if the theory that the Nedes were the earliest wave of Atmoran settlers that came to Tamriel is true, as they would have had to pass through Skyrim before reaching Cyrodil. Dibella is generally believed to be an exclusive Atmoran deity due to the fact that the Cyrodilic Nedes didn't worship her until after their rebellion and the founding of the First Empire. However, the Kothringi Nedes of Blackmarsh worshipped her, although under the name Dibe, which implies that they had some connection the Atmora that the Cyrodilic Nedes were stripped of when they were forced to convert to the Elven gods during generations of slavery under the Ayleids.
50:18 I played Oblivion retroactively after Skyrim. I recall coming into the region at sunset. Even on the 360 it made me stop and appreciate what I was beholding. I felt like I was in a state prime for an epiphany. I watched Magnus' orphus descending westward as the dusk sky gave way to night. I said to myself 'well, that was majestic' before continuing on to Anvil.
Yea, Oblivion has Beautiful Graphics. especially considering 2006, though the ONLY thing that doesn't age particularly well is the FaceGeneration. but unlike Morrowind before it. which was a beautiful game for 2002 (especially the Pixelshaded Water), Oblivion did have Facial Expressions.
It was a very subtle joke indeed! Orphus does mean hole, so I'm less his ass and more saying his asshole. Which I assure you is quite majestic. In any case it is compatible with the lore.
I remember finding fin gleam by absolute mistake, I thought I found something beyond belief. I ran and grabbed my older brother and was howling "is the whole game like this?"
Bethesda really should pick up that Fingleam theory. It is absolutely epic and could make the item a daedric item, too. Sheogorath or Clavicus Vile or maybe even Mephala could be the originating Prince.
It would definitely be something from Clavicus Vile, an enchanted helmet that takes on whatever enchantment will save you from death (But only after you die)
Sutch was a city state and has some history to it. It was cut from Oblivion due to time constraints. The grass was just left over from what they had previously made. In the lore they said the city was sacked somewhere between the late 2nd era or early 3rd era. Additionally, Sutch was often disputed between Hammerfell and the Colovian estates. The book "Thief Of Virtue" from Oblivion even mentioned the city of Sutch being apart of Hammerfell.
It’s also interesting because you can see the towers (but not access them) in ESO. There are also characters in ESO who are said to have visited Sutch within ESO’s timeline (in 582 2E.)
Still find myself just standing on a hill and admiring scenery every now and again in Oblivion. Even more so on the highest settings and music on. This game continues to catch me off guard with how pretty it can still be after all these years. Alongside Morrowind, Bethesda knew how to make me feel like I was actually in a fantasy world.
Seriously Oblivion was so fucking goodin this regard that it ruined my childhood, I already struggled with social interaction due to being autistic but the moment I got my hands on Oblivion in 5th grade all bets were off, I wouldn't be functionally sociable again until senior year of high school.
28:28 I actually found Fin Gleam on accident, and ever since it was one of the first things i did upon leaving the sewers. Ive always theorized, that the wearer had the helmet dislodged from his head and died in attempt to retrieve it
This mans videos are like 90% words that I just have to trust actually exist, as I've never heard them before. "Mudcrabs scuttle of what the salted sands, mouth parts foaming while sifting through flotsam. Awaiting the next novice adventurer to pince, mince and butcher" They gon cut you "Fawn, doe and stag boundingly frolic among the auriferous fields, evading fanged predator and Imperial Forester" They runnin
I feel almost rude saying that I fall asleep to these videos all the time, but they're just so interesting and calming and I always come back to watch the rest of it! My favorite series probably on all of RU-vid. 10/10 Camel I love your content
I've been waiting for this series to hit Oblivion for a long time! Definitely looking forward to more episodes covering the other regions and touching on things like the burnt down Alchemist shop or the mine with tunnels leading into Chorral's sewers.
You don’t realise how much you’ve missed something until you get a taste of more… and oh how I’ve missed the warm, soothing salted caramel tones of your voice
If you ignore the admittedly dated graphics and atrocious but still hilarious dialogue, oblivion is actually a pretty good looking game, and considering how when we jump to Skyrim with it's super green and dense forests it makes me super excited to explore TES6 when it comes out
Oh camel, your selection of sensual and saucy verbiage when describing selected scenery is severely satisfactorily. Cheers to another great video, mate.
Two curiosities about Sutch not mentioned in the video: 1) In TES 4: Oblivion, when you approach Sutch close enough, the music will turn from nature ambience music to dungeon music without having to enter the dungeon. 2) Sutch is present on maps in Elder Scrolls Online and it is depicted as a fully built city. The Gold Coast zone in ESO doesn't cover the area where Sutch is standing, and it is possible that Zenimax might make a DLC about it some day.
I still play Oblivion till this very day.. It is the first game that brought me into the world of RPGs. You'd think after all these years I'd tire of it but with all it's bugs, corny dialogue, hidden areas, vast quests and beautiful scenery im still in love with this classic.. Thank You so much for this video and all the hard work you do with everything you put your heart into 💯
For the ships sunk off the coast, there was that Dremora pirate who raided ships in this region (we meet him at the College of Winterhold), I doubt he would leave bodies after killing everyone, could take them on as undead pirates or something
About the mermaid : the first thing I thought when you showed the tail, was exactly that statue in Faroe Islands ; interestingly, anvil mermaid is shown as a real mermaid in elder scrolls online … but zenimax never did justice to the lore in terms of visuals … so, back to the mermaid : my guess , it was built nedic people , because her ears aren’t shown pointy (usually developers do highlight this to show the relation to the elves) . So it is either a reference to the real statue on the Faroe Islands , especially the story has similarities, or , it’s just a depiction of beauty (maybe Dibella) that people living near the sea wanted to express in that form
Okay, elders scrolls online mermaid has twin “legs” to, I apologize; but zenimax still made a lot of visual lore mistakes , some even getting really ridiculous (symbols being in places they shouldn’t and so on, I don’t wanna dig here , research will do if you’re interested)
Though it's a stretch there is also that the father of the elder scrolls, Julian Lefay is from the land locked part of this beautiful kingdom right here. Danish or Faroese, it all falls under the great Queen Margarete 2nd Rulership! B)
@@missa2855 I understand how you point out the pose rather than the specie of the statue when saying it looks more like Arielle . Let’s say it’s a mix between kopakonan and arielle
Another great entry to the CCC series. And thank you for solving the mystery of the mysterious silver homeware loot! Now I know who to blame the next time I open one of theese abandoned, yet rust-free disappointments.
New CCC episode??? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOt
The Gold Coast is my favorite place in ESIV. If I could choose a place to live in Oblivion I would like to live in Anvil. As of typing this Im up to the Selkie Mermaid of Anvil and just wanted to say nice job/catch with her not being a mermaid but a Selkie. That was really interesting.
G G legend well done I’m still hanging out in twitch streams and hope you are well and rain hasn’t hit your area too hard. 🇦🇺 thanks again mate and can’t wait for Morrowind starter guide too 🤞
Oooh, please do more of Cyrodiil and TES IV things. Some Daedric realms from ESO would be neat too, but my passion is Oblivion. These are bloody amazing to listen to.
Is it just me or does Oblivion feel like it just has more. Not to say Skyrim didn't have a lot of cool stuff tucked away, you (he) prove that. What I'm saying is that Oblivion feels like it has more substance, if that makes any sense.
Finds a chest with silver and gold, "must be a trash can," excuse me??? Can I come by your house to play games🤣🤣 I was playing Skyrim and sold all my "worthless items," flower basket, bucket, plate. I began thinking, while they're useless to me, for the people in this world, their great tools and possibly take a long time to make by hand, definitely not useless.
Minor “um, actually…” 😉 Those aren’t arrows on the banner. They’re the symbols from heraldic ermine, meant to represent fabric made from the fur of ermine tails. 🤓
Perhaps finngleam was used as an awful torture device like a person strapped to anchors and given the helm for the purpose of keeping the person alive so they can see what is eating them in the dark depths
I watched your channel nearly ten years ago, forgot about it and a lot of gaming stuff as I was busy with work opportunities, all over the world Things are calmer for me now, and I stumbled across your channel again today. SO happy to see this video. I spent maybe 3000 hours in Oblivion and have almost seen it all... but in Elder Scrolls there is always more to see. Thank you
I’m so excited!! Watching you construct this on twitch was really fun, i look forward to your stuff in the future! *no mountain lions, or mudcrabs were harmed in the making of this video, he totally did not beat the crap out of them to get rid of battle music *
