I grew up watching my older brother scroll the forums of NikeTalk and SoleCollector. It felt fun, and inviting. As I reached the age where I could develop my own style, I found out about ‘facebook groups,’ like WDYWT fit battles, NDSBG marketplace, as well as a surplus of local groups. For the first time, I saw a community that welcomed newcomers with open arms. Absurd collections posted left and right, PEs, and an ungodly amount of money being spent on a daily basis. The transactions, the hustle, the grind, building reputations (good and bad) it was all so fascinating to me. I went through a lot of reflection a while back, about a lot of the topics you touched on in the video. I, like many others, grew up and moved on. I do not miss that era of fashion, but I do miss the community aspect, and I also miss seeing an innocent 10 year old benjamin kickz in a fit battle with another silver spooned rich kid. Good times.

I don't think fashion has changed all that much actually. But I do believe that a sense of lament and nostalgia probably comes from us naturally getting older. In 2016 I even thought "are we gonna like half of this shit in five years?"

I never bought supreme in 2016 but did within the past 2 years, their hats and some hoodies will always be cool.

I became a big supreme guy in 2015, there was a certain amount of excitement for all the releases of that time, that same excitement doesn’t really exist for me in 2022. But I think the Avangard fits that people put together a really interesting and creative although I feel like I am too old to be wearing screen printed pants or being dripped out head to toe in buckles. Color blocking an outfit based on pollex crocs is how I’m living these days.

I was ahead of the time with the flannels and band tees and now I've looped around to a combination eboy/emo fits when I want to try. I've given up on looking good going to the store, it's a once a month fire fit and I'm good

Ayo big dawg, I'm sure you know Gosha's little brand GR uniforma but it's something worth collecting because it definitely captures more of the soviet/brutalism aspect with his pieces. He hasn't made anything since 2019 but you can always find a pretty decent chunk of his collection on therealreal. It's going to be one of those brands that will not pop up again in any sort of social media radar but they're well crafted and made with love(especially now being super "cheap")

The current fashion meta is reminiscent of post recession 2008-2011 where workwear, vintage and Americana heritage style have come into the forefront as a sign of the global financial situation. The collective subconscious drives us to these kinds of styles as quite frankly, it is insensitive to buy hyped up pieces when the world is going through a financial mess. I remember the rise of visvim, taka hayashi vans, various US labels like 3sixteen also being popular back then. I used to follow blogs like Street Etiquette that try to shine a light on heritage and menswear. The trend is to look cool while trying hard not to look like ur trying.

Yo, you a real one for the Overwatch, I was just thinking the whole street wear is dead thing reminds me of when everyone said Overwatch is a dead game from 2018-2021, Overwatch wasn't the game any more (at first the game was Fortnite and then Apex + Valorant was the game,) but millions of ppl were still playing unlike actual dead games (like battleborn.) Street wear is the same thing, not the thing anymore, but a lot of people still wear it and companies are still making $ off it.
