just picked up this game over weekend and I am hooked. this is not like tw series, where you play a pro. You create your character and go to the driving range and practice, cause you will need to practice, especially putting, cause you will need to putt everything out, there is no gimmies. This is more of a sim and as a golfer, its pretty accurate. Also, the commentary is quite good, reacts to what is actually happening, rather than making general statements. Already played 13hrs and it only takes 20 min to complete a full round. Only negative I found was graphically glitches, where the screen will go black or the lighting gets over saturated but I'm running everything on low, that could be the issue but a quick restart fixes it.

I got burned by the EA Tiger Woods game. I found that after paying probably 60 bucks, half way through the game they were wanting me to pony up even more money to continue. Is this game the same in this regard?

nope, no micro transaction, just in game currency. There is a slight progression system, which allows you to hit the ball farther. TW, you can play as a pro, this one, no option, just create your character.

I like the game, but putting is a legacy problem with this franchise. O don't understand why they refuse to add some type of distance meter or power meter to the putting swing. At least make it an option.

I was frustrated at first and still today but you gotta practice your putting. Technically, there is no power meter on the swing as well, the power is based on how far you move back on your swing and how fast you move forward, its all about that momentum. With putting, you can't just push it fast forward, that's not how you putt in real life. If you want a easier putting system, go to TWs, otherwise, learn to how to play golf in real life.
