Love the visuals Mark! The whole dynamic way of teaching body movement in conjunction with the golf swing is just awesome… It’s kind of amazing how much crisper your strikes tend to be lately and even miss hits aren’t all that bad for you.

Mathew Wolff style! All of this, step drills and these kind of trigger motions, super important to break the static rubbish swings most of us have.

Something dawned on me, would a good thought be, “hit the ball with your hip”! Does that make sense? Thanks Mark
@VoodooZ
@VoodooZ Год назад
that's assuming the student moves the lead hip properly already though. otherwise you're just reinforcing early extension or having the trail hip getting in the way early..

Mathew Wolfe exaggerates that move of opening the hips before starting the backswing.

Isn’t that what Dr.Kwon is teaching? I like your way better because their is way too much swaying in the other method.

Love this! My question is when I really try to fire my hips, I seem to hit the ball thin…what can I do to prevent this?

I one hundred percent hit my best shots with that same opening feeling to trigger my takeaway. In my trigger I also kinda turn my chin simultaneously toward the trail side to feel a draw and almost look a little left for a fade.

Not sure why and early extension is not always bad. 👍

This thing is allways puzzeling me. Someone says you need to rotate your hips with the sving and someone says you need to fire your hips early. When you try to fire your hips it produces early extension allmost immedetly on many players.

Nicklaus used early extension. Don’t fall foul to RU-vid rubbish. 👍👍

I had big distance success and better strike doing the preshot routine of wavering from left to right foot. Getting that loose feeling, lightening the grip and feeling the weight shift

Great video. I'm a 50 year old with a fairly stiff back, 3 handicap, trying desperately to do this but struggle. I have a net and record my swing. I like the alignment stick through belt buckles. I did have a couple of weeks standing 20/30 degrees open like Freddie couples/Willie Wilcox which really helped mid to shorter irons but I could not get on with driver. I found it hard to aim and it was not easy knowing how far forward or back to have the ball. I've now gone back square. Any thoughts on this? A video maybe? In the old days they used to teach you to stand open 100 yard pitch shots or less. Chipping was always open stance. Keep up your good work. I've watched you for 4 years when I came back to golf and feel like you are currently at your peak again with a passion for teaching. Cheers

Mark, are you actively moving/rotating your hips or is it something that just happens? My hips are open at impact but if I try and rotate them thinking about doing it I either come over the top or get stuck and have to roll the club to square the face

Love the trail hip visual and drill (first one). It helps orientate the femur of lead leg in transition and downswing (to face more towards target) without thinking about it...and more power too.

I went to the driving range the other week and worked on pushing off my front foot so it moved back from the explosive movement. I was wearing my normal runners when I did this. The next day I went out to play 9 holes and noticed when I tried the same movements with my soft spiked golf shoes I couldn't get the same explosive movement because of the spiked sole. Do you think it would be beneficial to change the type of golf shoe to help get that certain feeling in my swing?

Just worked on a few of these feels this morning mark and gained 3-4 mph with irons and 4-6 mph with driver. Strike with irons was much more solid to. Felt effortless as well, thank you very much

Great tip. When my right hip “hangs back” it’s no bueno. The further my right hip goes in the follow through the better the strike. Mark is the best instructor on RU-vid.

I have a habit of starting my swing by moving my trail foot and putting a little pressure on the ball of my rear foot. I wonder if that pushes pressure to the front foot and then back to the rear foot as I start the backswing?

Been doing these types of moves in speed training. It’s transformed my swing. Speed and strike. What’s not to like.

As a younger golfer I always had good hip drive, but my timing was way off during my downswing which resulted in a mean slice when I usually played. Now that I am a few years older and slightly wiser I figured the timing needed to change in order to put that power to good use :)

Love how you explain this and it really does work and work well. Been doing this for about 4 months and my strike improved. it did take a while for me to figure out my new aim, but once I did the ball went close to where I wanted. Plus, my speed increased quite a bit, which translated into longer carry distances. I now have to go get a gapping test for all my clubs. What a great problem to have. Cheers.
