@@DavidManningvlog Monday and Tuesday was 17C which I believe is around 62/63F…I think. I don’t know fahrenheit at all but that’s what my phone conversion says. However, today only went a high of 7C (44F). Our normal high this time of year is 0C which is 32F. However, that’s where I live but Canada is massive so you will get warmer and colder temperatures across Canada. One thing for sure…the temperature is bouncing up and down like a yo-yo.
Thanks for the review, I am really enjoying your videos and they are very relatable to me and very real also, you are fast becoming my go to channel , nice work .
David, thanks for the update. I’m intrigued at the pace of innovation with this camera. Conversely, the (sad) lack of innovation by GoPro. Enjoy your trip to Hawaii. If you’re on Oahu, a couple suggestions; 1. Lanikai beach in Kailua, the waves are minimal. I found it by accident when we had little ones (park in the neighborhood and use a public access path). We wanted a place that a 3 year old be safe. We’ve always called it “baby beach.” 2. Go to the Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian. It’s “touristy,” yet still manages the old Hawaiian feel. The drinks are strong and the view is spectacular. 3. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a sailplane ride out of Dillingham airfield. Usually, you soar over the Mokule ‘ia forest reserve and will be able to look down through the Makaha Valley. It’s a blast. Cheers 😎👍
David, this video could not have landed on my watchlist at a better time. We're trying to decide between the Ace Pro and DJI Action 4. Appreciate the content. Keep going!
Just FYI, you can use your smartphone as a remote for the DJI Action 4. It's obviously not the same and can't replace the remote in some scenarios, but at least you probably already have a phone and don't have to buy it, and it works very well for checking the angle of a head or chest mount or whatever. For what it's worth, I got an Action 4 a couple months ago and I'm very happy with it!
Finally! Somebody is acknowledging Life View while recording on the remote. Sony had that for like 15 years ago, no GPS though. There are so many situations there, this gadget will come handy. By the way, "The best camera in the world" in version Hero 9,10,11 has not this function even in the phone!!! I walk around a lot with my camera hanging on my chest, and I have to film short sequences to check framing. Very annoying! The same when I'm sailing or biking and want to rotate the camera while recording. I will get rid of my 11 as soon as possible and switch to Insta 360 ACE PRO. Very amateur as I am.
Thanks for the content David. Curious as to why the remote is such a positive vs having it accessed from a free App on your phone? Which you most likely carry all the time, it does all of that vs having to buy, $150?, carry and remember the remote and case/strap etc? I believe they have an App, though I don't see it on their site, but they must as you can remove the selfie stick with it and I am sure it would be the same as the X3 App? Can you not do all of this from the App? If so, you don't think that's a bit of a miss? Have fun in Hawaii!!! 🏝
You’re exactly right, it’s basically the phone app but in a separate device that can mount on your wrist or handlebars. No killing your phone battery and in a lot of action scenarios, you can’t have your phone out. I love this thing!
I love my Ace Pro and vlogging is acceptable, but your video does highlight that while low light in your studio is good... your face is a bit soft looking when using the Ace Pro because the minimum focus distance is just a bit too long so at arms length it isn't perfectly focused. I understand this is in part due to the large sensor size that gives it that excellent low light in the first place. My trio of Insta360 products: Ace Pro, GO 3S (new!) and X4 fit in a tiny little soft GoPro bag I have and cover all my video needs in such an easy to travel with package.
Been using Ace Pro since December, cancel recording is also my favorite feature, I'm no content creator so it's really convenient to delete the bloopers. I'm so sold on that remote control.. will probably get one after getting my license lol
Can we get an updated video on the insta360 ace pro after the firmware updates. Also, I came across videos of a few content creators and you are one of my favorites and I get hooked to a lot of these products so I just wanted to know did insta360 sponsor for the video and mention not to disclose that the video was sponsored. Please be honest if you don’t mind.
I have wanted this camera for a long time. I got GoPro hero 12 black for my birthday early this year and it’s my first action camera, although I never do action camera stuff on it! I just use it for vlogging and capturing family moments and it’s amazing in good light. Luckily I live in Southern California so we get a lot of sunny days and it looks great. But the minute the light goes down it looks awful. That’s when I bring out my Osmo pocket three which I absolutely love but it’s a definitely not as rugged as action cams are. I’m having a tough time deciding on my next camera and I’m between the Ace Pro and the Go3S. I’m leaning towards the Go3S, but I’m waiting. I’m looking to film inside malls and for doing walking tours on the down low… Do you think that the Go3S could handle indoor lighting like that? Or would the Ace Pro be better for filming inside with artificial light?
Terrible decision to not make the lens glass removable. I mean you can remove with a tool it but it voids the warranty and is no longer waterproof. Action cameras should have removable glass as standard. 🤔
The lens is removable. If you twist it to the left like a Gopro Hero 12 it will come off. I have seen 3 videos on RU-vid showing how easy you can twist it off and replace it if needed.
Ohh 11% off is a great deal....thanks David for the long-term review. I totally agreed with you as I am also a 4 month user. Thinking of getting the GPS remote.
Is this for real? You look so good barely 2 feet away from the camera. Is it because your face is well lit with the big lights? I tried doing a vlog style testing out in the open in the daylight, just on a cloudy day, and my face was not looking clear at all.
How about a Hindsight comparable feature? I need that for all my fish catches when you never know when that fish strike is going to play out, but you don't want to record 12-hours a day.
Hello. I want to live stream while fishing by sharing the internet from my phone. As far as I know, Gopro 12 can also record to SD card while live streaming. Do Insta360 Ace pro, DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and DJI Osmo Action 4 have the same feature? Which one do you recommend for live streaming?
Thanks David! I just bought the Ace Pro and a bunch of acc's, including the remote! I film landspeed videos as a hobby, ie Bonneville Salt Flats and El Mirage dry lake in CA. So my next trip I want to start vlogging. I've always had GoPros since model one, but stopped at No.8, now I have the perfect solution in the Ace Pro! Cannot wait for the May meet to try it all out, maybe I can get more views in my RU-vid channel. All the best to you and yours😎
For sure its videography and its features are outstanding!! But i wanna know hows the quality of photos it capture?? How would you rate its photography compared to iphone 15 pro or any beginner level dslr/compact camera? Really wanna know before buying..
Great review David, I've got my ace pro after watching your first review, and so far the camera has been performing really well! I might as well purchase the remote control!
You will absolutely not be disappointed! It’s basically like having the phone app abilities, but strapped to your wrist and you can keep your phone safe and sound in your pocket!
@David Manning when using the ace pro and you have the flip screen up during under water shots? Or does it need to be down in order to maintain a seal?
Do you think Insta360 will fix the close focusing issue with a firmware update or additional closer vlogging mode? OR do you think this gets fixed in the Ace Pro 2.0? They really should fix it in this version IMHO.
Which will be best between this one and the really small one on ur cap? Im thinking on selling my old gopro and get one of those...but not sure which, and it will depend on the end use of course...but recomendations are very welcome 🙏
How is the workflow getting the GPS/telemetry data onto your footage? Especially if you have a 10min 4K vid file, for example. Would love to know please David. Thanks.
Might be helpful to do a walkthrough video, but it’s super simple. You do have to use the desktop app though. Once you’re in there, you pretty much just choose which look you want and you’re set!
@@DavidManningvlog Thanks David. I ask because I have the Osmo Action 4 and remote control for data/telemetry info but you can only use the iPhone or iPad app. As you can imagine this can take hours for a large 10 or 15gb 4K file if you want to integrate the data... which I do, from my ski holiday in the Alps. Quite terrible of DJI to not provide a desktop app to deal with such huge files. Perhaps the subject of a future video... 🤔 Love your work - keep it up. Many thanks from Cape Town, South Africa 🙏
How is this vs osmo action 4 for surfing? I saw osmo has little delay after hitting start button, heard camera door can pop open easily on insta. Anything else?
In the future could you please add the settings for video samples you post? Where it says "Shot on...", just so if we like your settings we're able to be inspired by your settings :) Thank you, great video subbed because of it!
Your videos are awesome, thanks! I bought the remote and absolutely love it. The only other thing it won’t do is change the battery in the camera lol. Have fun in Hawaii 🤙🏻
Hi, it my first time leaving the comments while watching your video by the way, I watched your videos so much and learned a lot things about the cameras. I currently owning the Action 4, and one feature grabbed my attention from the Ace Pro which is the photo taking feature while recording the video. So I am trying to figure out should I need to purchase one more camera just because of the photo shot feature or not. Would you let me know whether you will recommend buying one more action camera which has similar features?
That’s a tough one! You already have such a great camera, it’s tough to say that you need another. How I treat gear in general is to not buy something new unless I bump up against a hurdle in what I want to create. As soon as gear gets in my way, then I know it’s time to upgrade
Did you or willyou do the cons of this camera? For example I saw one of the cons is flesh tones are accurate.... Thanks! Maybe I will use it insofar my Action 4😮.
As usual...a great video. Love your enthusiasm. I might upgrade from my GoPro 11 to the Insta360 Ace Pro...One question...I heard one reviewer say it was difficult to "see" the flip LCD screen when wearing polarizing sunglasses. Since I would mount the camera on my bike, this would be a problem. Have you tried looking at the screen with sunglasses on?
This doesn't sound like much of a problem in your case imo. You have to check the angle once and won't look at the screen much afterwards, so just do that initial adjustment without your sunglasses and you're good to go.
@@jest0riz0r After buying the Ace Pro I can confirm that one can't see the LCD flip screen with polarized sunglasses. But it works fine with regular sunglasses.
Does the remote turn off automatically after a set time like the osmo 4? Love everything about the osmo 4 with remote but it’s beyond stupid there is no option to just keep the remote and camera on until the battery dies. Tried a few times to use the osmo 4 w remote snowboarding but by the time you get through the lift line and on the lift the stupid remote shuts itself off and then you have to go through the whole boot sequence and re initialize hope you can get gps signal again by the time you get off the lift to record and get data. I basically stopped using it after a few trips where it turn off and you’d try to turn back on and reconnect in time but then not be recording when you thought you were etc…. Let the user determine if they want to leave it on and connected at the expense of battery life.
Actually there’s one thing that you can’t change on the GPS remote and that is switching active HDR on and off. You can do it on the camera screen thanks to the latest firmware update but that doesn’t seem to have caught up with the remote. Perhaps an update in the future?
Yes you can on the remote, select video mode, top menu, swipe to left, you'll see Active HDR "on" select, gives you "off" option, make sure you have the latest GPS remote firmware. ;)
Hay Dave, I am trying my best to get good video on my Ace Pro while walking with the Ace Pro mounted on my Snap mount on the chest in low light. The video is so shaky. Any advice?
In terms of pure image quality: No. But if you are in the market for a rugged Vlogging camera it can fit your need quite nicely. Don’t forget that the Pocket 3 has a real 1 inch sensor and auto focus which enables much closer focusing distance with background blur. I personally have two cameras: The Pocket 3 as my main vlogging camera and the Action 4 if it’s getting rough and wet. I like it. But if I would be in the market for just one camera covering both the Ace Pro would be on top of my list for sure!!!
Thanks for the video. Tricky question: if you could only have one Ace Pro, X3 or Osmo Pocket 3 to primarily film your family and occasionally some mediocre sport stuff. Which one would you choose?
Pocket 3 if it’s not getting rough and dirty. Ace Pro if it sometimes getting rough. Action 4 if it mostly gets rough ;-) Pocket 3 has by far the best image quality. But it has a gimbal and is not waterproof. Both the Pocket and the Action 4 support the DJI Mic 2 which is sweet.
You sure can, but can you check your phone quickly while bombing a mountain on your mountain bike? Or back country skiing through four feet of powder? Having everything wrist mounted is a killer solution and keeps your phone safe and sound
@@DavidManningvlog appreciate the reply and agree it's a cool accessory but honestly in the scenarios you mentioned I think I may glance once at the watch initially, then just focus on not dying while moving at high speeds on ski mountain or trail.
I have both. They are very different in how you will use them. The X3 is great for long stick selfies and taking 360 video and post editing the view you want. The final video and photos are not going to be as good as the Ace Pro. Ace Pro has more shooting modes, lower light capability, and better video and photo quality. If you can only buy one I would say the Ace Pro. My opinion.
Are you going to borrow an X100VI to capitalize on the popularity of it to make some content? Ha I got one on preorder. They always say the best camera is the one you have on you and I never end up carrying my cameras so I plan on carrying this one. Small enough.
I would never use my iPhone to record action footage. If you really film a lot than it’s also very convenient to have a) an dedicated device and b) be able to swap out batteries and film on.
So wait a minute, you can't change out lenses on this like the RS or Twin or whatever, and actually.... do.... 360? I.e., other than popping the battery off and on and the microsd card in and out, it's not modular...
its not 8k. how can you record 132gb per second onto a micro sd card. its fake consumer grade...kinda.. 8k shaped HQ action cam stuff....hmm. its not even real 4k. nowhere near. but its a good amateur action camera
