fortyonesix.com/ fortyonesix.com/news/1384/watc... The biggest race of the historic motorsport calendar, and /DRIVE was there! Racing the Lister in the TT with Anthony Reid. One of the best experiences ever.
Chris Harris gets to do things 99.9% of us can only dream of, but I don't begrudge him a moment of that because he's obviously a really nice bloke. Best car journalist in the world in my opinion.
Bloody hell that was exiting!! Best thing i've watched in quite some time. My heart truly sank when i realized for sure you weren't gonna win, and i forgot to breathe when the car spun near the end. Brilliant video Chris! Damn...
That was amazing! shows how great journalism coupled with great production and cinema photography can create amazing content. I was right there with the highs and the lows! Great segment!
That emotional connection is where I think Chris shines at. He makes you feel a part of his journey. Be it on a greasy track with a F40 or driving in a historic at Goodwood.
RU-vid community take note: This is the most breathtaking spectacle ever produced. I say breathtaking because I quite literally stopped breathing a few times (especially during Anthony Reid's "minor pirouette" in the rain). Fantastic driving, Chris! Outstanding content /Drive team! "One sensational race"...
Think about how in 30 years you'll be telling your kids that you put the moves on Jean Alesi in a 30 million pound Ferrari at Goodwood. What an incredible story to tell. Good job Chris
That was… the greatest thing I have ever seen… I nearly cried at the end and almost forgot that you guys were racing cars worth more than GT3 cars… /Drive is just on such a high level...
Wow. This was, without a doubt, the best video Drive has put together. I thought the Chris Harris Mille Miglia video would never be topped, but this one had a clearer narrative, better footage and a dramatic peak. Excellent stuff. Keep putting Harris in old British cars - he makes magic.
Agreed, there is just this..feeling in all his videos, he understands cars, he develops a relationship with the car in such a short period of time. And there is just so much more, my absolute favourite car journalist/reviewer ever.
What a marvelous Video!..I dont even have words to express my Joy right now!..amazing!..the sounds the cars the driving the pure excitement!..its too much frankly..Great job Drive!..Chris Harris!..hats off!..one hell of a drive, story and video!..
Thank you Chris Harris and crew, for making what has become my favorite content to watch ON ANY MEDIUM. And this piece tops your best work. As the race got underway, I was moved near to tears, heart swelling with nostalgia and admiration. Chris, your respect for the sport, and your child-like joy, are as much of a refreshment as I can think of. CHEERS!
Absolutely astonishing. More than a video, it's been like a film that tells a story of a fully passionate race back in the sixties. Shame the team ended second, but must have been a great honor taking part on such amazing event. Just speachless!
I went to goodwood revival in 2010 and it is a magical place, anyone with a hint of petrol running through their veins would be brought to their knees... As I entered through the paddock, the thrum of 50`s F1 cars pounding round the track made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.... Many thanks to Chris Harris for bringing those feelings rushing back. A 250 gto, or E type Lightweight or a Cobra 427 going full chat with the sound echoing off the pit walls is a void that needs filling for any petrolhead. please go... Cheers Monkey
WOW! All I can say is wow. Not only from a historical standpoint, but for a present day race I was glued to my monitor watching ever moment. What a great race. Great video! Well done!
I am a bit reluctant to use the word epic, but this time it's just that: Epic!! This video made me smile the whole time. Those Brits can be awesome, all dressed up, really racing 10-ish million euro cars! Great vid, thank you /Drive and Chris Harris!
I had the treat of watching this race in the flesh. It was possibly the most amazing race I have seen. I was sat in the Lavant Corner Grandstand and witnessed Anthony's pirouette. Second time at the revival and definitely many more to come!
Drive delivers - Chris, marvelous racing! Terrifying but still a joy to see such grand cars whip about like that! This is probably my favorite racing video of the year!
This was so amazing I still can't realize how amazing it was! One of the best car related videos I've ever seen! Absolutely fantastic! And I know you guys wanted to win but still, congratulations for 2nd place!
Most exciting 18min of Chris Harris footage I've seen. The race was epic, the narration brilliant and the sheer feeling of being part of the event called for an epic director. Thank you for these amazing car videos. And hats off to Mr. Harris for being an inspiring car enthusiast. We all wish we spent an evening with him talking about cars. Keep the videos coming, you have my view!
That was one of the best, if not the best Chris Harris video I've seen so far. Lots of dialogue, conveyed great emotion of the event, and the shots they got on camera too. So bummed about them not grabbing first with less than 2 minutes left. I think I need to go to this event one day.
This video should win some version of the Oscars. Chris Harris winning in the categories Best Journalist, Director and Best Driver. Is there any better motoring journalism out there?
What an amazing video! I was sitting on the edge of my seat, great editing, voice over, the right sound at the right time, Chris doing an amazing job, best video from Chris I've seen yet!!!
The story telling, the cars, the suspense... Truly an all-time great video. Simply gobsmacked Chris. The cigar at the end seemed well deserved for a race brilliantly run. Again, just great.
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this, Chris. This is why I love cars and motorsport, and the people in it. PS-Where did that Aston Martin even come from!? Gah!
This is honestly one of, if not the best video I've ever seen. It has it all.. the drama, the melancholy, the suspense, the best looking cars ever built. Thank you so much, Chris.
Just got my Internet working again, caught up with the latest drive videos and this was beyond good entertainment, but magical and brings back those awesome old videos from the day of when drivers drove with extreme passion and skill to win the day. Later on today the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, Saturday is going to be a GREAT DAY!
What a magical video. I absolutely screamed out loud in joy at 12:23 when Chris passes the Cobra the first time and "DAMN!" when he's passed back a few seconds later, and relieved at 13:00 after the see-saw finally rests with the Lister at the top. Brilliant!!
I couldn't believe my luck when I was sitting in the stands and heard you were racing. I didn't believe it was THE Chris Harris for so long, but what a great surprise it was. A fantastic race and an amazing video to follow. This is racing, and it's mighty fine.
what an atmosphere of true classic motorsport..!.now you can get it nowhere but in England, I appreciate it for that. And still a wonderful piece of work, Chris!
I thought that the F40 vs. F50 was the greatest car video ever. Not anymore. This video is amazing - beautiful cars, amazing driving skills and high drama. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I must mirror most every comment on "epic" "awesome" and "fantastic" below. Chris and the /Drive team as well as Mr. Reid, you lot did a great job and produced a stellar video to boot. Maybe it is the palpable sense of Goodwood or great vintage TT cars, but i hope that future /Drive videos can capture this level of emotion in future episodes across the already monumental lineup.
Chris you're just on a whole new level of car journalism, the way you talk and experience those cars, gives me such chills and thrills, makes it almost like i was there myself. Hopefully i will be someday, and spectate you race that jag again ^^
I was rooting so hard for Team Lister. Second is still quite an achievement against some of the competition I saw. This is my favorite type of racing. And where do I get to see the best footage of it? Not Motor Trend, not Car & Driver, DRIVE. Great job boys, great race Chris.
Chris & Neil: you guys set the standard by which every other car video is judged. What an absolutely fantastic piece. Wow, wow, wow! I was at the edge of my seat with goosebumps by the end of this...it was that good!
best story telling ever. thoroughly enjoyed it, had me screaming when the lister spun. still a remarkable achievement, coming ahead of names like Alesi and Kristensen!
Over the years I watched this video a couple of times, and today it still moves me as much - if not more - as when I saw it the first time. It doesn't get much better, really.
When people ask what's so fascinating about motorsport, I now have a reference point to show them. The essence of all things that are great about racing captured so beautifully. Thank you for the most entertaining 18 mins I've seen this week. Great job mate. Also, brilliant driving!
That Lister is a stunningly gorgeous car. Never seen anything quite like that before. And at 10:30 ! That guy just rubbed his way past in a fucking 250 GTO! 13:06 too! What they're doing in that thing is utter madness!
Never, not even on Drive, have I been moved enough to comment on RU-vid. Thanks for the amazing video! A great work provokes emotion and this does it in spades.
I respect /Drive channel as a whole, with all of its shows continuously bettering themselves, and I'm well aware of the dangers in praising /Chris Harris on Cars above all others, but I don't believe that I'll be persuaded otherwise in this instance. Outstanding car, driving, narration, and camerawork. This is worlds above and apart from what is normally considered "RU-vid content." My heart nearly shattered when Anthony spun the car, even though the shots of him tracing the outside of the corner earlier when the rain first struck told me to expect exactly that.
It's been 6 years since the last comment was left. We do not get to see much of new top gear episodes in Eastern European. This is the last and best format in which I get to see Mr. Harris. I am grateful for this being uploaded to youtube. CH on cars and drive was the best I ever saw. Wish he would still continue this format.
It is my firm belief that you'll get several more chances to drive in that race! Hopefully in the Lister! That was some fantastic driving Mr. Harris! Thanks to all that made this video happen!
It was great seeing these priceless cars, hanging their tails out on most every turn. The voice over was spot on as well! I held my breath when that Lister spun!
I have see the race in live and it was sensational !! And this vid is more than awesome. Thanks guys :). One of the best... no the best video I ever see here, on youtube.
I watched this last night on my tv because I couldn't wait to get into work to see it. Brilliant video absolutely brilliant. I can't even imagine the difficulty Anthony must have had with that thing once the rains came. Great drive chris, it looked like one of those times where your just in the zone. The noise out of that thing, I agree I think if it was at all possible that would be the car I would ask for in my dreams/wishes haha. I've had so many different dream cars over the years, but that just looks and sounds like a monster and to me seems true to the spirit of motor (racing) cars. Thank you & chop chop we're all wanting another video already :P I jest!!
Chris, this is so brilliant. What an astounding honor and what a cool thing to do. Great job on your videos they keep getting better. Along with the whole of Drive.
I've been following you for a few year's now Chris, but this is by far the best video to date. Great footage and superbe commentating on a truly remarkable race. Keep them comming.
Utterly superb. A genuine once in a lifetime opportunity and to come so close is incredible. Often said, but this is the best Drive video, going to be hard to beat!
Best Episode of Chris harris ever, i hope you do more of these races this was just magnificant, and the way it was delivered was top notch, Drive this was excellent!! Top Gear could learn a thing or too by this.
Simply the BEST piece of automotive journalism I've seen. Chris Harris and /Drive, I am proud of you guys! Chris never fails to delivery the human side of the story (wherever there is one) using the cars, and it is always about the human, emotional side of the story, isn't it? Please keep on doing what you're doing because this channel's got soul!
Fantastic video Chris! Makes me feel sad, that nowadays cars lacks this passion, this intensity, this determination... Got goosebumps on high revs of that Lister, superb. Floored the "Like" pedal.
Absolutely stunning drive there. Be proud of the second place, with the performance you showed there, maybe you will get a chance to go for first again in the future. Thank you for sharing this, I've never been so excited about Goodwood before. This is really something else...
That was honestly so freaking cool. Even going there would be a treat, let alone driving in it! Seriously incredible. wheel to wheel racing with multi, multi million dollar cars, good times.
What a fantastic story, Every time i click on a Chris Harris on cars video it's always a full screen, sit back and enjoy job. One of my favorite videos to date, really had me on the edge of my seat!, A great story teller, a great driver, a great journalist!
Staggering! I was a bit down knowing that Chris wouldn't be reviewing a car I could own if I simply had the money, but this was absolutely stunning! And to think you won second!!
Amazing video. I've not felt that excited or involved watching a race for a long time. Certainly not this F1 season anyway. Great stuff, keep it up. Hope you get another chance next year.
Love how this has been produced. No silly music over the engine noise, narration left to the needed minimum and no talking over the interesting racing.
Epic, the best video on DRIVE ever. I watched the race on tv ages ago so knew what happened but it didn't make it any less exciting, so wanted you to win. 250 GTO next year? ;-)
This vid is now over 6 years old and I'm so very glad Y.T. has suggested to me that I view it. I was on the edge of my seat and truly crestfallen to watch the Aston take the lead. What a race, and what a couple of drivers, and that Jaguar... whew, speechless. How on Earth indeed does one throw cars like that around a track, wet no less, among other $35M+ cars? I'm surprised those cars move so fast what with carrying along such massive steel balls. Well done.
***** I dunno, guys got a point. I mean someone let the small brown man drive around in their something really expensive Jag, going up against something millions worth of other cars, in quite a prestigious race(if you're old money). Plus some big shot racer wants his autograph, which means alot.
I almost died when Anthony had his spin, to see that car be damaged would have been too much to take. Well done on second place. Hard fought and well deserved.
Incredible, Brilliant, Edge of my seat!!! Best racing clip I'v seen in a long time!! If you have any love of Motorsport, it should be for this. Amazing stuff. Thank you Chris Harris!
I knew that because of the quality of your content Chris, that someday you would be able to top the F40/F50 hooliganism a while back. I just didn't think it could happen so soon. Well done.
Considering he's "just" a motoring journalist (well, one of the best), he's a beast of a driver. Especially in these old cars which drive like a tree walking on ice ...
Thank you Mr Harris for...just being yourself. What a fantastic show! Thank you for taking us lay-people of the internet on this grand journey with you Sir.
as of right now there are 301+ like, and 21 likes and 1 dislike, i think that one dislike was the fact that they thought the ad at the beginning was the video..... shame, this should have 0 dislikes..... Chris, that was amazing you have the best job in the world, and are the best journalist in the world, i love Clarkson, but you my friend, take the cake, and eat it to
