Meanwhile countries like Germany have had universal healthcare since the 80s. And by that I mean the 1880s. *Edit:* Since this comment is getting a lot of unexpected attention, I want to point out that Germany is by no means unique in this regard, nor is it the most shining example of such a system. It is however the first country to implement it in 1883 under Otto von Bismarck - a conservative nationalist, who was actively trying to suppress the socialist movement at the time. Since then this system has survived for over 130 years, including the hyper inflation of the 20s, the loss of the two most devastating wars in human history, as well as 40 years of military occupation that split the country in two. And after all that Germany just became the 4th largest economy in the world, almost as if guaranteeing some basic human dignity to everyone doesn't strangle your economy at all. Call me crazy, but this might even work in America.

well it's half true. when someone is observing a courtroom proceedings and laughs at testimony they could be asked to leave the room because they are interfering. if they refuse they would be removed from the room and at least face a fine. this is basically what happened here. to be clear : i am not taking a position on this situation, i am explaining what is the basis for legal action against someone interfering with official gov business.

Wes TV There are really only four obstacles to a good health care plan for the USA: 1. The doctors make too much money. 2. The malpractice lawyers make too much money and the litigation settlements are too high, so the malpractice insurance is too expensive, too. 3. The pharmaceutical companies make too much money. 4. Donald Trump is friends with everybody who makes too much money and he is the President. If you can just think of a simple way to fix those four problems, the rest is just a lot of paperwork...

Doctors spend a lot of time and money into schooling, work long hours and do things that not many people can do. they deserve to be paid well. Pharmaceutical companies need money to fund research.

@Jordan - Dunno about you, but I have had instances where I laughed involuntary upon hearing something absurd. When someone laughs on purpose to disrupt an event, I expect something totally different than what this clip showed. Seems very harsh to be convicted for an escaped laugh and maybe even face a one-year sentence. Purposeful disrespect is not the same as an involuntary laugh.

Pretty simple. They have aides present them with bulletin points or a very (scarily) scant summary of what's contained in it. They never really read any of the bills for more than a few minutes or so. It's how shit gets snuck in as an addendum in subsections, like how SOPA 2.0 was added to a budget bill. People were told "This is our surveillance budget, and here's the things that need money." Nobody in the Senate or House was told "There's also a subsection that would authorize the deobfuscation of personal privacy in regards to digital information stored locally on non-network connected devices." They don't take the time to do their jobs because they've got to spend all that time putting on the mask and delving into pleasing both their patrons and constituents. If they pass a law people don't like they'll be voted out of office. If they pass a law companies don't like, they won't get the donations to their state fund. When you're preoccupied juggling those two responsibilities it's easier to pay the guy in his thirties who just got his second level law degree to go through everything and carefully omit the parts that'll lose your attention.

This was back When they owned more seats. Also it's a revised version of one they already tried to pass and failed- after changing a few things it passed, so they all know what's on the bill already.

Everyone who opposes Trumpcare should immediately contact his US Senators to let them know of his opposition. This should be done by a phone call, an e-mail and a follow-up physical letter. If your Senator is a Republican, let him know that you oppose it. If he is a Democrat, encourage him to filibuster it. It's not enough to post comments on RU-vid.: Politicians have to be told what their constituents want.

carecanada Well to play Devils Advocate America is a Constitutional Republic not a Democracy. The Electoral College was set up to protect the States from the "Tyranny of the majority" you tend to find in big cities. Democracy gets used to describe America a lot but it wasn't at it's founding and it still isn't now. (Edit: I should say the popular vote counts within each State. There is no such thing as a National popular vote in a CP. So in a Constitutional Republic the candidate that wins the most States generally will win the Presidency.)

So I read in an article that this bill will, if passed, possibly kick 24 million people off their insurance. I read in the same article that the ACA put 20 million more on it. So correct me if I'm wrong, but this bill might kick of more people from health insurance than the ACA even put on. So... how is this good for anyone at all?

Hi the Artist, and hello Americans who do not support Trump. I am from the UK and I feel so fired up and angry at what is happening in the US. I follow US politics and news MORE than I now follow news in my own country. I am horrified at what happened yesterday and sickened at watching Agent Orange Cheeto and his Cronies laugh and celebrate as they kick US citizens to the ground. I spent a few hours yesterday in heated argument with Trumptards on U tube who were blindly cheering yesterday's news like it was a soccer/sport result. 'Trump Trump USA' they cheer - they just don't seem to get it. You are having your health care taken away from you! These people seem happy to be part of burning their own country to the ground and I truly feel for the rest of you in the US who have to put up with this. I send you my thoughts, regards and prayers and I sincerely hope that you guys can successfully resist, protest and stop this 'zombie death care' bill being passed fully.

Why are they working so hard on insurance? The underlying factors are the extremely high costs of doctors, hospitals, and medication. Why not work to reduce those? I know the USA loves its money and wants to suck every penny out of its citizens, but how can anyone really enjoy life if they can't live because they they have to work their lives away to pay for living?
