Monika and I travelled into London for the GQ Car of the Year Awards 2022, hosted by Michelin, at The Berkeley hotel in London.
Every vehicle was electric at this year’s awards and it really was a fantastic experience!
The following day we walked over to Mayfair to explore the local area… and I was over the moon to find some James Bond first edition books!

I literally can envision some time in the not too distant future, when Freddie is the modern day equivalent of "Top Gear" replacing the older "pretties" (a.k.a presenters). Having his own show along with his DOP the always, creative, supportive, and frequently giggling off camera.... Monika

Great to see London again, I've not been for a few years. I spent a lot of my UK working life off and on around that area and had coffee at that same Nero many many times. London is so much more grown up than Tenerife . The 'nice' bits of UK have a real sense of culture gained from thousands and thousands of human years layer upon layer that you really feel in in your soul, this is really the only thing we really miss here. My old dentist emigrated to Australia but came back after a couple of years because of the lack of culture, His comment "sure it's got the beach, but that's all it's got" Anyhoo, great video and a lovely deserved treat for you both

Haha no way- I’m glad I could give you a little trip down memory lane, Richard!☕️ It’s so true; the sense of history and culture ( in the nice bits!) of London is incredible. Back to Tenerife and I’m really looking forward to returning🙂🏝👌🏻 I always find it fascinating when people return to the UK from places like Spain and Australia.

I had a volvo 340! Looked just like that one! Picked it up for a couple of hundred quid in the early 90's and ran it until it died. Incredible to think that all the old, rubbish bikes and cars that we used to laugh at are now "classics"!

It’s so true; I never really liked the 340 in the 90s… but now for some reason I absolutely LOVE it!!😍 The Novas, Mk1 and 2 Golfs, Renault 5s; all under £500 cars to take your pick from and now they’re £1,000s!

When you first announced your brief return to the U.K. I did wonder why you would abandon the sunshine of Tenerife: The Honda launch, the Triumph factory visit and now the GQ Car of the Year event... and you still get to go back for some sunshine and enjoy the drive back (or is there even more to come yet?) Great content as ever.

Y'know I wondered if that 340DL Volvo could have been recent;y bought as an avoidance of the ULEZ. But it looked a bit newer than 1983 (40 yo) and rego plate says it's 1989.

A previous employer took me to Marcus Wareing at the Berkley. Sweet lord it was the greatest piece of beef I had tasted in my life. I did find the raft of Arab nationals high revving supercars outside a bit gaudy. But then I'm a country boy.

Ooh I say Freddie......ever so posh in this episode! Glad you didn't park the old Bonville in front of that hotel between all those supercars coz it might have dripped WD40 all over that fancy paving! lol How the other half lives eh! Not jealous at all....well maybe just a little bit! As for the star of the show.....well there were many fantastic cars and bikes there but for me the absolute star was Monica in her beautiful dress who looked absolutely stunning and was THE star of the show! Great vid and look forward to seeing the next one!
