I love this music; I adore it. When I first wacthed it (on blu-ray) I rewatched the opening scene in the hotel at least a dozen times before watching the rest of the moive. It's just wonderful
My favorite movie of all time, it's got such a whimsical charm that the ending sucker punches you right in the heart, and every time you rewatch it you realize how tragic it really is.
Oh man, it is so delightful to see someone discover Wes Anderson's films. If you enjoyed this film, you should definitely see more of his work. Both live action and animated.
Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Tilda Swinton (don't know if you recognized her as Madame D.), Saoirse Ronan, F. Murray Abraham, Willem Dafoe, Adrien Brody, Harvey Keitel, Edward Norton, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Lea Seydoux, Bill Murray, Tom Wilkinson and Jeff Goldblum. That cast is insane.
YES. One off my favorite characters of all time, Mr Gustave. “You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity.”
Oh, this is a perfect film for you. I’m surprised you haven’t seen it before this. Edit: If you haven’t seen Fantastic Mr Fox, I highly recommend it. It’s quite similar in some ways & I’m pretty sure you’d enjoy it.
This was my favorite movie until I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once, this movie is unbridled joy and heart. It's utterly rewatchable and endlessly quotable.
I also love this movie. Wes Anderson's films are truly magical. He has a way of almost making the world look like it exists inside a snow globe. This film and Moonrise Kingdom are my absolute faves.
Omgosh, 1st wes anderson? You're in for some treats! My 3rd fav movie is The Royal Tenenbaums. (Just behind The Princess Bride and Die Hard -- that's how good that film is!).
Two great movie reactions a couple of days apart. You spoil us, Jimmy. Another fantastic performance by Ralph Fiennes. One of many things I love about The Grand Budapest Hotel.
'The Grand Budapest' has been rapidly rising up my list of favorite films since it came out a decade or so ago. It is filled with great performances by a loaded cast, every frame is gorgeous, and it is very funny
It's lovely to see pure delight in a reaction video. I suspect you'll love other Wes Anderson movies. If you go that way, Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic are worthwhile.
This is my favourite film of all time. I'm not saying it's objectively 'the best', but it's my favourite. It's beautiful. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see someone watch it for the first time.
This is probably my favourite Wes Anderson movie. I guess The Life Aquatic is right up there too (mostly for personal resonance) Absolute masterpiece, and the cast is stacked.
Jimmy, you should do music reactions too. You have such cool insights into plot and perspective in storytelling and I’d love to see you react to music and lyrics you’ve never heard. Food for thought.
Rushmore still my favorite. Then Royal Tanenbaums, followed by Grand Budapest. I think Grand Budapest is the most refined, combining all Wes Anderson's films into this. Damn good.
If you want even more over the top Wes Anderson style cinematography, watch The French Dispatch, his latest movie wich is packed with interesting crazy Wes Anderson ideas and storytelling.
Wes Anderson movies are their own genre, and Grand Budapest is one of the best of an already stacked list of films. I think you'd enjoy "The Royal Tenenbaums" too (every character is a wonderful mess).
One of the best things about this film is that it has maybe one of Anderson's biggest film-nerd Easter eggs: the museum sequence. The whole thing is *kind of* a shot-for-shot remake of a sequence in an old Hitchcock film -- but all completely reworked in Wes Anderson's unique style instead. I had no idea when I first watched the movie (I just loved it), but it is kind of mind-blowing to see just how brilliant it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3GK_3KgZios.html
I think what your teacher was saying applies to films like Gone Girl. Gone Girl isn't something that necessarily has to be a movie, it actually factually is a book first. But Wes Anderson Films, Nolan films, movies like Mad Max FR-- those are 🎥movies🎬 cinema👌 and then it's okay to notice cinematography, esp nowadays when we're this versed in cinema. Also welcome to Wes Anderson movies. As Family Guy said: it's like taking an edible and waking up in a Hallmark card
Ralph Fiennes is so good in this movie, it's hard to imagine a better actor for Wes Anderson's style. Anderson really shouldn't make another movie without him
In spite of everything, I still rate Life Aquatic higher than this delightful confection of a film. It's theme about the melancholy of aging is just soooo well drawn.
Love Grand Budapest Hotel. It's great on so many levels. I've made so many people watch it, and they've all enjoyed it, which I found surprising Because I thought it might be a "taste".
Hi, frequently watching your channel I was ondering, if you have already seen Jim Jarmusch´s "Dead Man" from 1995. Still my favourite Johnny Depp and an all time favourite in general with me. Cheers
The rest of the movie is skippable, but check out Ralph Fiennes in this scene from the Coen Bros' Hail Caesar! Unbelievably funny. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f_83Cg0QUfY.html
In my opinion the game doesn't really start until you start playing as Abby and getting all the perspectives. Nothing is just black and white. I would be very careful reading the comments though a lot of people may want you to think a certain way but just let the story play out and make up your own mind.
Quick note for Jimmy and all other reaction channels: I am unreasonably annoyed by those who show 'clips of what's coming up' at the start of a video, that I just skip ahead past the intro and everything to the point where i can see the movie has started. My friend, I have already decided to watch your vid. Whoever convinced you that you you should put spoilers at the start, did you dirty.
