The right way is to pull the white clip, make sure the cable housing moves freely within the holder. With the engine turned off of coarse, hold the throttle WIDE OPEN and the cable housing will adjust itself properly. Install the clip before returning the throttle from the wide open position. Done.. your 4.0 will seem like a hotrod with it shifting properly
So you saying this will work definitely for the 99 Grand Cherokee, remove white clip make sure it's free open throttle wide open reset the white clip and it should be good correct
Just did this adjustment, and followed the actual factory service manual instructions, which....have absolutely nothing in-common with what you typed here, sir. NOT "tHe RiGhT wAy", whatsoever. The FSM instructions worked great for me, though.
They can take it. There's even a WJ service bulletin for the 4.0 that states the exhaust valve sometimes doesn't rotate and sticks, and the fix for it is to hold the engine at 4500 for 15 seconds in gear. idle and repeat
Yea, you might want to read how to do this in the manual .... just a thought. Can't read? OK, general rule, over time it will stretch, so you would un- stretch by making the housing "longer".
Hi Kindlestone! Im 26 from Minnesota and since its cold as hell i actually broke the plastic connector for this cable! Can you please help if you have any suggestions other than replacing the whole cable!
@@southernNCfamily ya but your paying more for metal so your going out of your way to pay more for something that will decrease engine health. Just saying brother no knocking metal if its what your heart desires the i understand. But from a poor mans view who likes to make his work perfect but has to make his cash stretch.
The cable that you adjusted isn’t connected to the throttle body in my jeep. What does that mean? Like the wire is just hanging it doesn’t have the black clip holding it
2 things, when I remove the white clip I have to old the position of the cable,to make sure I don't loose the previous adjustment, how did yours hold its self,2,what is the name brand an where did you get your air filter an intake tube thanks
Anyone know what four hole injectors will fit in the 99 Grand Cherokee that's supposedly I heard from it's Ford and one guy said it's EB 1 / 9/17 . My money is tight but want to put a little more pep in the step if you know what I mean any ideas exhaust injectors throttle body I know a 62 mm they say it will work is it true thanks guys
Take the white clip off that cable, leaving the cable attached hold the throttle wide open and put the clip back on and you're done... If it still runs badly disconnect the battery take a zip tie or something put the positive and negative together making sure that they have contact leave it for about 35 minutes they say 30 but 35 to be safe this will reset your PMC and the TMC then start the Jeep hold it down to 2000 RPM's for about 5 minutes with your air conditioner full blast, then turn the air off and do it again for five minutes then drive it hard until it levels out at first it'll run like crap but after a few miles it'll feel like a different Jeep! The video isn't wrong but resetting the TMC is what controls the transmission and the only way to reset that is how I described. Doing this allows for the PMC and the TMC to readjust to the adjustments you made. The reason for running it at 2000 RPM's with the air on and off is only to set your idle to where it runs good with the air on or off.
I'm very late jumping in here but for those seeing this in the future those are Bosch 0280155007 injectors. Generally found in Dodge/Chrysler minivans. A good "upgrade" over the stock XJ injectors.
Crashman 01 grand cherokee won't come out of 1st If you release gas it can. Guy says needs new trannie I just called him and told him to check throttle body sensor (saw below) Someone had put in a second hand throttle body a month ago. Guy said you just had one put in and I wondered if it could have been faulty Is there a way to check if bad?
@@kindlestone When this 1st happened Tran place said sensor and selenoid in tran would be the fix but $500 and no guarantee. So drove it home slowly. Went to this recent place and they said new second hand trannie $1100 Car is sitting in their lot They said they're ltrying to find one with less than 75000 miles on it.
Mine shifts from 2nd to 3rd at about 45 mph, and it's got me a little worried, becuz in traffic it's this up and down like I'm in a stick shift. I did your adjustment and adjusted it all the way out making the cable tight on the throttle body, and it improved a little. But it's still a high rpm. Got any ideas?

Any update on what fixed it for you if on the same situation Mine won’t shift out of first until like five RPMs and I have to let go to gas and sometimes it’ll shift and sometimes it won’t
@@mikepon6try replacing crank position sensor and cam sensor. Or possibly your shift solenoid is bad. I’m goingto be replacing them soon because I’m going though this myself. I’ll let u know how it goes.🇺🇸
