The soundtrack was released on CD in 1996 by Windham Hill Records, also featuring tracks by Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman. A promo CD of the score with a slightly different track listing and shorter running time was also circulated in 1995 by Fine Line Features.

THE GRASS HARP is the coming-of-age story of an orphaned boy who runs away with his eccentric spinster cousin and their maid to a treehouse in the woods, an act of quiet rebellion that turns their entire town upside down and inspires other local misfits to join them.
