My heart continues to ache for Eric--but I think people forget that Conor's mother suffers as well. The focus is always on Eric's pain because of how public his mourning was with the wonderful song he wrote. Let's not forget that Conor had a mother, Lory Del Santo, who suffered as well.

I remember when this happened. I was 22 and it affected me so much just thinking of the entire situation. 53 stories and a little fella falling just is unimaginable tragedy. I think about that little boy every time i hear the song. My husband and I had lost newborn twins, Matthew and Zachary, in 1988 and it is something I would never wish on anyone. God bless the parents that have buried a part of their heart. There is no pain equal to it.

My mom had died three years before this song came out, I remember when this happened. By 2017 I had lost three kids of my own. You never expect this. It's heart wrenching.

The song "Tears In Heaven" was written by Eric Clapton for his son who passed away. I sung "Tears In Heaven " at my childhood friends funeral. My friend was highly depressed and he hung himself after graduation and just a few days before Thanksgiving. We all miss him so much. " Would you know my name, if I saw you in heaven Would it be the same, if I saw you in heaven. I must be strong and carry on. Cause I know there'll be no more tears in heaven." I lost my oldest son just 2 years ago. Never even thought a child of mine would go before me, such an arrogant thought. The pain hasn’t gone away, it just sits and waits for vulnerable moment. But I do know they will know you when you are ready to go, my Mom saw her father, her brother her sister and her mother before she past, she told us they were waiting for her. Conor was born two months after my twins. When he died, I was on my route as letter carrier for the US Post Office. I heard the announcement on the radio in my jeep, and looked at the tallest building near me just trying to imagine what he went through. The tallest building near me was 26 stories, and I still can’t imagine what that poor baby went through.

Ever since I found out about Conor Clapton and how he passed, I felt sad and depressed for this child, felt like the world suddenly was devoid of colors. I just lost my grandson a few days ago. He had MD. He suffered for years. He was my sons only child. I was thinking of that song for his memorial.

Man, he was less than a year younger than me. He won the lottery being born to a wealthy rockstar and probably would have had a great life had this freakish accident not happened.

Man that was like a gut punch. I remember vividly when that happened. That was long before I had my own kids but it still just broke my heart to pieces.

When I was first married, about 34 years ago, we lived in a second floor apartment. We had our sofa placed against a wall of windows above a small courtyard. One day, as I walked into the room, I saw my two year old daughter press her hands against the window screen, only to have it pop out. She started to fall out the window, and I leaped over the coffee table, just in time to catch her by one foot. I just sat there and hugged her, shaking.

No windows above the 3rd floor should be able to be opened. Conor's death hit me really hard and still hurts and I didn't even know him or the family besides Eric's music Rest In Peace little Angel. 👼

This made me sob uncontrollably, the thought of losing your child is my greatest fear. I'm counting the hours before I pick him up from daycare today. Hold your children close every chance you get.

This was so sad, I remember hearing about his death, I wasn’t born yet when he died but I remember seeing it somewhere, that poor little baby I cannot even begin to imagine what it’s like to lose a child but I do know loss. I lost my best friend when she was 22, she died at my college. The amount of grief someone can have, there’s never a time limit for grief or how you choose to be grieving, it’s different for everyone, I’ve listened to this song so much and it’s so heartbreaking, cannot cry without listening, cannot imagine how hard it must have been to write and perform. RIP sweet little baby boy Conor! He’s forever looking down watching and listening to this song written for him, he’s buried somewhere so beautiful and it’s beautiful to see someone recent came to visit him, sweet boy you are loved always and forever, losing a child is tragic and times were different back then, but hopefully places like this stories high have window locks and guards to hopefully prevent a loss of a child this way in the future! Tragedies happen, but the pain of losing someone especially a child and especially that young, I have chills now. I love that song. I have a daughter who is two years older than Conor. Her son is named Connor, he's a senior in high school this year. She has a 19 year old in college and ....a four year old son. I cannot imagine losing her or any of the grandkids (I actually have 9, the 4 year old Theo is the youngest). To Eric, your son lives through you, and as long as we're remembered, we live. My sons name is Connor and he was born with a very rare Heart defect, it was very difficult going through all those open heart surgeries he went through, I could not imagine losing my son like Eric did....its heartbreaking

In addition to this unspeakable tragedy, which brought grief, guilt, anger and that awful feeling of “if only I hadn’t turned my back…,” something the nanny, parents and extended family replay in their minds every day, there is also the loss to the public in what Conor might have become as an adult. He would be around 38 years old today. He might well have been as great an artist as his father. We’ll never know now. 😢🥺

This has to be one of the saddest songs for myself . Not only because of why Eric Clapton wrote it , but it applies to so many losses , for so many of us , including myself . Here in Calgary, deaths such as this happened . The city brought in tough building codes because of it . And older apartments, high rises , office buildings had to comply , or they were heavily fined . Now, even seniors residences, for the most part don’t even have balconies . Thank you for this heart wrenching video , even though it was tough for you to do. You are helping raise awareness to others , who may live in a place that haven’t done anything about this . I remember hearing about this tragic occurrence on the news. Even as a young girl, I felt so sad and even teared up hearing the song. I often watch the newer RU-vid ‘reaction’ postings, of the younger generations first time listening/reacting to ‘Tears in Heaven’, and they come away very emotionally affected, of this powerful song. When I give up on the World, I find it very comforting that there is still this compassion, out there. My only small complaint is these people react to the ‘Rush’ footage, and not watching Eric performing it on stage. When you see him performing it, on stage, you see his eyes, and your heart is shattered into pieces, knowing how much he is hurting.

I was like 12 when I heard this song and someone told me it's about his son that fell. Shocking. I'm in my 40s now and to see his grave is just nice. Thank you. RIP little man.

Thank you for this share. My wife and I lost a baby while in development. There is nothing more heart wrenching than to lose a child of any age. Nothing prepares you for such a difficult loss. It takes time to no longer feel fragmented and to simply feel normal once again. Even as a clinician, I was ill prepared for the heartache and pain that I would encounter.
