In this podcast, Ashley Rindsberg talks about his book The Gray Lady Winked. New York Times has been nothing less than an institution for the last century. But how has it behaved during key events of global history? What has been its reportage like? Ashley takes us through a journey in this book where he narrates how the New York Times reported and narrated these events.

@@smoky3302 Kumar Shyam is that guy who said that he likes Owaisi because after Ram Mandir jusdgement, he didn't change and he is so brave, that was laughable at best, I mean it's like Owaisi takinga U-turn angering his own vote bank to support Ram Mandir, lol it would never happen and yea it didn't happen too. Owaisi knows his core base and why would he go against it, that's when I realized Kumar Shyam was either particularly ignorant to common sense, or completely delusional against BJP.

Mr.Jones movie was something that just eroded my respect for the journalist awards, it was literally bullshit, for the amount of information that Walter Durranty hid, which could have changed the minds of several, thus helping Ukrainians in the Stalin-imposed famine, Holodomor. And the way NYT defended Durranty saying since USSR was an iron curtain, he couldn't speak about it while Gareth Jones brought the information to the picture, it just made me lose my respect to awards in journalism.

I had a spat with a pastor back in 2012, finally left the church after Trevon Martin was killed. He didn't preach some things directly in sermons but he'd have small study groups where he'd include language of "White Supremacy" and "Empire" and taking the perspective that "whiteness" became an American quality that enabled some ethnic groups to be included while excluding others, and so Jews were once not white, but now they are, and some Asians, including his ancestry, Korean were also light skinned, so could be included as white. It seemed interesting to consider what "whiteness" means, but overall confusing. When I argued privately, it was funny, how he himself, couldn't clearly articulate I think, so he'd just defer to books he read, AS IF one person writing a book, ever for a PhD instantly makes something true, and makes your understanding of their argument as true, etc. I don't even think I was arguing what WAS true, but just preferring to be agnostic against over-arching conclusions and singular frameworks of see the world. One blogger I liked once wrote "Knowing many stories is wisdom. Knowing no stories is ignorance. Knowing one story is death." The clear meaning, having a singular narrative (ideoalogy) for explaining the world gives an undue confidence that the world can be reduced to your models of the world, and all players in the world then can be reduced to roles that you assign them, and ultimately determining some people as perpetrators and other people as victims, without allowing both of them their full humanity, and as individuals with strengths and weaknesses and vulnerabilities, who sometimes don't make the best choices, as judged by hindsight. So I see that's what the "Left" does with their social justice, which includes parts of reality, but because it can only sympathize with one side (victims), it creates a false story about how reform can be made.
