The GREASIEST Fish and Chips I've EVER HAD in my ENTIRE LIFE! - The BIG FISH Ollerton 

I believe that the whole idea of the boxes is more to do with portion control as there’s only certain amount of space for the fish and chips. I’m old school as I much rather have them wrapped up in paper and a paper bag. Not in a plastic bag as it make the food sweat and makes it soggy 🤢. My first impression is 😘😘😘😘😘😋😋😋

Lee if you remove the fish and chips from the large box that meal will be label as medium-size and definitely not large. Peas little bit runny for me curry sauce looks good but the fish and chips are way too greasy for my liking I will rate it 7.0 Nice to see the MacMaster Dad 3:03 😊👍

When I eat fish & chips in the car I always ask for extra paper ,so I don’t slop my peas/ curry 🤣🇬🇧

The grease problem comes from the fish being put straight from fryer into the box. Ideally it should be placed on a warm rack for a few minutes before serving. Oil is not a good way to cook fish as the batter soaks it up like a sponge. Dripping a far better option. I didn't like the look of it at all. Shame as not far from me, driven past but never tried it, and probably won't after this video.

Fine..👀.. vinegar..that's why your batter has gone soft..I always just have salt..and if possible add vinegar just before eating..

Had the £6 meal deal at the chippy near Oxford United's Kassam stadium last night before the game.The fish is lovely with a nice light batter and the chips are nice too.So Fish and chips and a drink for £6 bargain.

I think it’s been put in the box when it was too hot, and steamed itself soggy. A couple of minutes in the cabinet would have helped. Which reminds me - in some shops they ask if you want the f&c “open” to eat straight away. Perhaps try asking next time.

Something the box holds the Steam of the hot food and ruins the crispy ness.

That's amusing that the fish and chips came in a box and peas etc came wrapped in paper.

The batter was soggy because they water it down to save money. Then it can't handle the vinegar.

Actually compared with some of the fish and chip establishments you have visited this looks quite good ,, and that does look like a generous size piece of cod.

If the fish was freshly cooked and straight out of the fryer that's why it's greasy, they need to sit in the cabinet for a minute or two, and I would never eat nurks in my car.

First impression - Looks good. I was thinking 7 overall so 0.1 out in total. Being a Nottingham bloke we are hard to please so it didnt seem that bad, but in a former mining area, if you do not come up with quality then you are finished. So not bad. Will give it a try when next up the 614.

Hi Lee! That all looked wonderful to me on appearance! Yes peas little bit runny but as you say taste nice regardless. The curry looks amazing as it should. A solid 9.5 for that decent sized meaty fish and portion of chips too

I think it might have been greasy batter because it was freshly cooked and straight out of the deep fryer without a decent draining time? I've had similar at various places if it has just been freshly served out of the fryer.

Looking a solid 8. But the grease thing is a modern phenomenon. Fish are cooked to order in an attempt to be fresh. However, as soon as they've cooked and thrown in the drainer, they're immediately scooped up and put on top of your chips. In the following 5-10mins they continue to drain the fat from the battered fish all over your chips. Two outcomes, soggy chips and a lake of grease! Chippys in the past used to do fish in batches, letting them drain well before serving.

i'd give it 8 out of 10, they looked great, i like them greasy and it was a decent size portion, i also prefer softer batter

Nice to see good quality fish and chips, however if you want a big fish try Armstrong's in Prestwich Manchester the home of the jumbo cod, it's that big it has to be wrapped up on its own.

There’s a chip shop where I live in cardiff called fryers club they sell the best fish and chips in cardiff but the mushy peas they sell are the worst I’ve ever had

Fish looked fresh but the batter looked soggy in the middle and colour of batter too dark. I agree with Selwyn's comment wrap the fish and chips in paper and put them in a bag. Good video.

If you want a BIG bit of fish, go to ‘The Harbour Fish bar’ in Folkestone… it’s like getting Jaws on a plate.. your gonna need a bigger plate

I haven’t tried the big fish since the refit but always found it ok when I’ve been before , anyways I moved down here from West Yorkshire and haven’t found any fish and chips as good as some of the Yorkshire chip shops the small traditional ones that still only sell fish and chips and Yorkshire fish cakes nothing else they were great

Might I suggest a 'Chip Glove'?? Use one or a pair of latex gloves when you chow down on any take away in a car. Use the fork by all means too. The gloves help you handle hot food, leave absolutely no mess on your hands too. Peel em off, bin em. Job done. Looks a tad odd but massively practical. Try it, it's a game changer in the hot car food theatre of operations!

Kindly correct me if I'm wrong, your meal here ( minus the drink ) was approximately nine pounds ? ,,, you visited Poppies in London where you paid ( again correct me if I'm wrong ) approximately twenty four pounds for your fish supper plus mushy peas and curry sauce ? Nine pounds against twenty four pounds ?? ,, yes indeed what's a wee bit of grease ?? ,,, but a good review, I enjoyed that.

Those chips looks exactly like the ones used at my favourite chippy, if they taste the same, that whole meal is a 9/10 easy.

Fish 🐠 looked and Sound very Crispy, the 🍟 Chips looked very tasty, as did the peas and curry 🥘 8/10 verdict 🌟

u got all that for 11.00 wow. I go to a chippy in east london, barking road, run by a family. its actually hard o find a good chippy in east london. 2 large cod and one chips is 19. deliveroo twice as much. seriously 35, people will oay it

Now all you need to do is start heading east untill you get to Grimsby and Cleethorpes, then go the the chippy I told you about in Cleethorpes 👍😋

Hi Lee, been in there a few times for a sit down fish and chip lunch, used to be ok to be fare probably a 7.5 out of 10. The best one though is the chip shop in edwinstow, the worst one is at clipstone, take care me old China👍😁
