This Amazing hike takes us Deep into Beautiful Horseshoe Canyon with 4 distinct Pictograph Sites: The High Gallery, Horseshoe Gallery, The Alcove and Most Famous - The Great Gallery! These ancient, world renowned rock art murals are as much as 7 feet tall and many are 10'-20' above solid ground high on the walls of the canyon. The hike is 7 miles of sandy desert walking as well as a steep rocky section near the trail head of about 600 vertical feet, where one enters and exits the canyon. The Whole experience left quite an Impression.

This place is awesome and have wanted to hike in there for a long time now. Adventures of history's mysteries are great to explore and ponder the possibilities of how ancient man lived and what their reasons and beliefs are. You did a great job on this and really enjoy that you are expanding possibilities for your video content. Would love to see more of this type of coverage and you have worked here. Thanks Karl!

Karl, somehow I commented under someone else’s comment prompting a nice response. He mentioned his age at 61. It made me think I’m lucky to be doing what I’m doing at my age so we have to cherish all we do and the risks we take.

Great video, Karl. Beautifully edited. I did the same hike in April, camped closer to Hwy 24 and rode my dual sport out to the trail head which made that dirt road drive much quicker! It is a gorgeous canyon and the pictographs are incredible. Well said towards the end, I completely agree. Look forward to more!

Enjoyed listening to your perspectives on these subjects. Amazing pictographs thanks for the effort to capture them! I've read where some folks rate the hike into the canyon very tough?? Didn't see it... thanks again Karl!

Just my thoughts, but hiking down into the canyon and getting to all the panels is quite easy. Its returning to the trailhead that is a bit of a challenge. Gotta hike back up the canyon wall (the trail is very well marked), quite a bit of sand on the trail and can be hot as heck depending on the time of day/year. I did it in April and was sweating pretty good on they way back up.

Nice video. We have done that hike and the art is amazing. We were in the area at the same time as we drove down Hwy 24 we reflected on the drive back to the trailhead. We did the Bentonite Hills in multiple locations. Did the river ford twice, once over and then returning. Lots of wind which made it tough on the drone. Tons of people in Capitol Reef so we came back to the Swell and walked Wild Horse Canyon. First time back since we hiked it four years ago with our close friends who were up in heaven looking down on us as we relived the memories. RIP. Thanks for sharing Horseshoe Canyon so we could remember when we did it when we were younger. Getting ready for the San Juan’s when the snow melts. Always love the Adventure Zone! 😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍😮😮

Whoa, some deep thoughts today, Karl! Excellent! To your last tight canyon experience: At 61 years young, I have found myself asking those very questions about the risks I still take in my age demographic out in our mountains, deserts, canyons, lakes, etc. I think John Muir said it best… “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks… .” I believe humans are seekers by nature, and always enjoy being part of something that is much bigger than ourselves . Muir also is known for the famous “The mountains are calling, and I must go” line. Sometimes we don’t always have all the answers for our behavior, but must put our faith in things that feed our soul and curiosity. Maybe that might be part of your Great Gallery artist’s religious motivations…. Thanks for taking us on another great adventure! 🥾
