Sold! Never heard of this one, but so colorful and exciting/fun. Plus I share a name. I don't like to add anything else to my list, but you keep delivering...
Well done; that’s a great adventure for sure Karl! I soloed it two days ago. French was a repeat for me but getting to Frasco and Casco was definitely fun! Happy trails mountain boss!
Yeah, it was for me too obviously! Good job gettin it done 👍. There are almost limitless mountain hikes in CO that have so much to offer, thanks for the nice comment, Karl
@@KarlDeckerPresents thanks for making some of the best videos of the CO peaks; this one inspired me to go back to that area. I need to go back and get Vermilion (after watching that video). I was unprepared for the amount of snow that basin retained in 2019 when I attempted it. Happy trails!
Love those summit views--true 360. Great memories of my first 14er, Grays. My son's middle name, Gray, was inspired by it, but Kelso Ridge will always be my favorite way to experience G&T.
Karl see jagged mountain. Karl climb jagged mountain. Karl film Karl on jagged mountain. Karl make video of Karl on jagged mountain. People watch video of Karl on jagged mountain. People happy.
Awesome scramble! Fun video. I appreciate the effort in calling out the surrounding summits, However, you should check your math, you're 0 for 5 on the summits. You nailed Mt Crested Butte though :)
Yeah our first group adventure, thought their skill and fitness levels showed well and made it relatively easy to get this done in an organization manner! Thanks, Karl 👍
Difficulty is fairly similar, but the commitment on Kit Carson is huge in comparison plus the usual weather and altitude factors make it much tougher. I sure did love that climb though!
Major gratitude for this incredible video. Major props for completing this epic traverse. Your human side showed early in the traverse. Much admiration for your determination and focus.
Man that really means a lot to me! It's a big time deal, and I am very grateful to have been able to capture some of its reality. Thanks again, Karl 👍👍
Thanks for sharing. Nice to see Crested Butte from up high. That 401 is awesome and love seeing those bikes come flying down it. Haven’t done Crested Butte this year, but maybe, we’ll see how it goes. In Ophir yesterday. Good video!😀👍
I've read a decent number of reviews of Avery, glad YOU did this video that showed the whole route! The gulley is no joke, your crew are fit climbers that made it look almost routine. Enjoyed seeing you out there with that group - very well done as usual - great area!!
Cool looking scramble. My son and I were climbing up Mt Saint Helens in Washington last week and did the scramble through the boulder field on way to the rim. We didn’t think about helmets because I didn’t look that steep. Sure enough a rock was pulled loose above us and zoomed right past him! Now anytime we have people above our line we stick them on. Better safe than sorry…
What an adventure. And solo. My choice but think i'd bring a buddy. Don't think my 73 yr old short legs could do that rock part… but might have to adventure this photo "treat" canyon …you have done a fine video.👏 Great job. A lot of editing. A bonus for us viewers👍
Do NOT let your dog off a leash. I am a native to this area of Colorado and it is aptly named Rattlesnake Arches. I've had a friend lose a dog, another almost lose a dog, and heard of a dozen instances of people loosing dogs to bites.
I’m thinking about hitting this hike in the next couple weekends or so, been building up to be able to conquer the mountain, looks a lot easier than I might have thought. Scoped it out today and it was definitely intimidating looking but I think I’ll be ready!! Thanks for the video!
I live at the base of the Sangre s. With the needles always in my spotting scope, I see search and rescue helicopter always heading up there. Please evaluate your skills before attempting these climbs as they are brutal.
I did and it was gnarly, that whole freestyle attempt on the knob was a bit over the top, the standard route was easier but still not really "easy. . ." Cheers!
Great job on the climb and cinematography is amazing in your videos. Would love to see you do a video on nearby Mt of the Holy Cross with some drone footage!
That was fabulous. Bring 81 and somewhat limited, I can only dream of a venture like that. Hope do you know you will have the energy to make it back uphill? 😮
Thank you sir, appreciate your kind words! Well, I have years of doing this style of adventure and I know my body very well, so I'm pretty confident in my ability to extract myself from most situations. Thanks again, Karl Decker 👍👍
Thank you so much for making this video! Your production and shots are out of this world and not to mention incredibly informative. After watching your video, my partner and I were planning on doing Kendall peak coming up this October, or at least hike up to silver lake. We really want to try to summit Kendall peak though. I was wondering if there was any specific trail you followed that you would recommend? like those image clips you show in the video marking your progress on the trail map like where it says ‘old mines’ or ‘ghost mining town’. We are pretty experienced hikers and especially love the San Juans. But it seems like such a seldom travelled trail that there’s not too much info about the actual trail to get to Kendall peak. We were mostly concerned with how the terrain is once you start to head towards the summit. It didn’t look very strenuous in your video, but things can be deceiving. Thank you once again, from one nature lover to another. I know it’s a long shot, but any insight is appreciated.
Getting to Silver lake was pretty straight forward and from there I saw an old very steep mining road angling up to climbers left. I took that to the last collapsed mining cabin past several mines. Then it was a loose sidehill off trail climb to the saddle, the worst part. . . up onto the steep stepped ridge line toward the summit and finally across the rolling narrow but safe summit ridge to the summit proper,. Good Luck, definitely doable, short class 4 step on the ridge. . . Cheers!
Karl, you have incredible scenic views to video, but I must say, your video production is out of this world... much like the views of the Hanksville/Cainesville area can provide.
