It freaking sucked how cold it was I could feel it to my bones....im still repairing my house I had no electric it sucked that power company was told for 15 years to winterize the equipment. But they did nothing....and the white house did nothing they where too late.

Why would they put the water pipes in the ceiling ? I live in the pacific northwest and some smart guy decided to put the heat in the ceiling....another dumb idea !
I was in Gavelston in May and thought about moving there. Right now I'm glad we didn't. The people there did seem a lot nicer than people in Oklahoma. The only ones who acted up was in a paid area for swimming and beach parking. They were mad saying there was to many people. I don't know where they were from but I didn't see many there.
All of the celebrities should at least send each person affected by this sadness should at least send three cases of water each or even two cases and the billionaires & millionaires should at least send three months worth of food and some billionaires & millionaires should pay their utilities for three months.
I distinctly remembered how Texas Senate voted against sending any aid to New York after Hurricane Sandy in 2012, talk about major Karma. It was a disgusting chapter in Texas history.
If they organised for all homes to have rainwater tanks, solar battery banks and generators it would take care of people now and through future disasters..

I understand the suffering during the great freeze. I live at the other end of Texas from galveston and we saw a week below freezing and some days below zero. Don't want any more of that crap!

Basically, we have a new perspective and better documentation of each new weather phenomenon. A comparison- The scarcity of quality videos and pictures of the Indian Ocean tsunami that same day in 2004 (ironically) was horrible. I've so many fond memories of a place that can be visited by a major metropolitan city (1 hour away) to island paradise. "I" too still without water. Stay STRONG Galveston, TX. LA grid is broken too, it breaks down on the regular and we had even schedule blackouts and that's normal. I was stuck at LA airport because the whole city was blackouted and had to rent a car to drive back to San Francisco. No one gets fired for it in California, it happens in nice 75-80's weather too.
also said that he’s going to get to the bottom of why Texas‘s power grid failed in such a spectacular fashion when, again, the state was warned a decade ago that it needed to winterize its power plants. So it doesn’t really seem like Patrick is great at figuring things out
Watching this in 2022, severe weather Dec 22nd low for tonight 24°, get ready all my island folks. I was prepared this year. Pipes insulated, plenty food and water, old-school gas heater in case the power goes out, flashlights, candles, extra everything including beer. Next year I'ma have generator. People in other parts of America have a glib observation about burst water pipes & no power. Even IF you shut off water, other problems arise. It' IS a mechanical system that is fallible + vulnerable to system failures. PLEASE be more compassionate before doing more harm with your unfeeling comments. Help the world & not be an horses arse.
It is nice that people work together too bad your governor did not prepare for this with the electric company. Maybe this is a wake-up call for everyone including the government to prepare and have 10 different back-up-plans just in case. The government may or may not their in it for the money and do not care about the people. Just look at the dufus Cruz in Cancun for the freezing temps what a sorry piece. If the people are going to ignore this, then when it happens again many will not feel sorry for you. Now it is warm and many will forget and go on just like before, so Texas thinks they are all that, rude awakening is coming to you all. It is said that Texas is big in everything this must include ignorance with a small mind thought process.
I wouldnt trust the meat or anything frozen because of the power going out ..I went to walmart and saw a rotten steak, no thanks I rather cook then go get fast food.

Happened in the 80's,I was at the SS Galveston you couldn't tell where the beach was.The old guy's remember all the fish floated and frozen to the top.Gslvestonians are tough,not a problem,finding PVC was a trip or 2.
