By 383 BCE, the Latins were beginning to get a little antsy. The Latin League, the largest community of Latin cities, had signed a peace treaty with Rome, the Foedus Cassianum, which had basically acknowledged that Rome was a military match for all of Latium combined. However, since that treaty had been signed Rome had continued to build its strength while the other Latin cities were boxed in by Rome’s outward expansion. This meant that Rome had begun to not only match the rest of Latium but even eclipse them. A few Latin cities found this to be unacceptable and realized they needed to do something about it before the gap became too large. Lanuvium, Velitrae, and most of all Praeneste, would join forces together with the Volsci in an attempt to overthrow their Roman hegemons. Could the Latins succeed in such an undertaking? Would the entirety of Latium even support such a move? And how did we even get here in the first place? Let’s talk about it.

Also I am aware that some of these animations, maps, and so on look a little bit bland. This is my first time doing something like this so this will all change as I get better and better with the various programs and techniques. Just hang in there please!
