I can see why people love Samurai Jack, his sense of honor and his tragic backstory along with how no matter how dark it gets, he always let's back on his feet
Never thought of that but youre 100% correct, I mean his sword is basically an even more strict version Thors hammer. Like who would else can manage the literal moral purity and diligence of Jack? He was being a good guy and kicking ass saving people, but getting frustrated and angry made him lose the sword... after doing endless battles for literal years....
One of the few fictional characters with 100% moral integrity, honour and dignity. Even at his lowest he still dedicated his life to help others. I’d argue he’s more worthy than Thor himself
I really love Samurai Jack and everything about him. I think he perfectly represents dedication to your missions and purposes. And 50 years of suffering and helping people without giving into insanity or becoming evil makes him a perfect example of nobility in warriors and a strong mindset a soldier irl should have. He will always be my favorite fictional warrior.
“He who wears a mask cannot see what lies within himself” Really hits different after the start of season 5, the dude lost who he was and literally hid behind the mask of the ronin
"one of us ALWAYS lies, the other ALWAYS tells the truth! you may ask us one question to determine WHO is WHO!".....ok?....what color are my robes? "white" ..."black-DAMMIT!"
Except he had to determine who the magic worm was, not who tells the truth. As he explained, the magic worm could be the one who tells lies or the one who tells the truth, so his question has to cover both bases.
From 13:34-14:26, I love the dynamic between Jack and Aku, it’s so funny seeing Jack outsmart Aku then having Aku think he’s outsmarted jack only to have Jack outsmart Aku again, I’m convinced this show is also a comedy. Aku’s face when Jack outsmarted him for the second time had me dying, it was just too perfect
Well yeah, it was on CN, so Im sure the company wanted Gennedy to put some light humor in this show, instead of being full on dark. I believe it worked out, seeing Jack actually meet good people in his trips and not having to think life or death every episode is always good to see. Like the episode when Jack tries on shoes was funny, and the episode where he helps those ape men was good too.
We spent our childhood(or teenhood depending on when you were born) watching this hero try to find a way back to the past while fixing any chaos or wickedness he comes across during his journey. Now here we are as adults wishing we could do the same because we can't fix any of the craziness in this world as easily as he could. I cannot tell if this is another example of cartoons predicting the future or a very cruel joke.
this isn't predicting the future. this has happend for a long time. and jack did not defeat evil easily. it was a struggle. i struggle everyday. i become wiser. i grow both physically and as a person. and hope to break out of the matrix soon so i can do all that i need to do before my time. to put a stop to evil and advanced society. but just as jack needs to get back to the past. i must escape the matix.
Even so, like Jack, we should stand back up and continue to walk and not let the corruption in the real world get to us, no matter how many times you fall.. get back up, and fight. Because as soon as you give up, every hardship in life will come down on you harder than ever, and giving up will let It win. We may long for the past, but lets not trip over it and continue moving forward into future and try to make it better for the next generation. "Keep moving forward." - Meet the Robinsons.
11:05 "If you know yourself but not your enemy, you will accrue a defeat for every victory. If you know yourself and your enemy, you will always achieve victory. If you know not yourself nor your enemy, you will always face defeat." Sun Tzu, the art of War, though I may have misplaced some words
if you think about it, after seeing this part 2:10 , have we all ever considered that jack might be the smartest man alive, when he gets to the past ?, just imagine all the knowlage he will have by then,
@@rhaegostheskydragon1760 And I never said that you said stupid, just commenting on how well-written Jack's understanding of Aku is. Don't put words in _my_ comments.
"He who runs with aggression, walks without dignity" That's my favorite quote of the entire series. It perfectly describes jack. His style was always purely defensive. If someone attacked him, he'd fight, but anyone who didn't was always safe.
I used to have a huge crush on Jack as a child. So much so that I used to skip some of the fight scenes because I didn't like how badly he got beat up.
"Warrior of the night. Trained to use the darkness of the shadow. He who wears a mask, cannot see what lies within himself." - Samurai Jack Batman: T_T Edna: No Capes...
12:23 my favorite scene from ep 4 it was at this moment i realized she was like zuko or ben solo from star wars blinded misguided tortured but eventually they faced there abuser also every time i watch the scene from 16:42 i get the feeling genndy took the basis of that story and made it the plot for s5 am i the only one who thinks this? cuz he's broken yet again but has ashi beside him to restore his faith
Samurai Jack was definitely Genndy Tartakovsky's magnum opus. I still love re watching the previous 4 seasons of Samurai Jack. Season 5 was great, until the whole romance plot was pushed for the last 3 episodes of that season. I wish the series ended in a more epic & memorable way.
I got the bittersweet moment of sacrificing one's happiness for the sake of duty, in keeping with the samurai spirit, which I wanted to see at the end. A happy end would have been a mistake, in my opinion, and shown a gross misunderstanding of the essentially beautiful tragedy that is a life lived in accordance with the code of Bushido, at least the romanticised version that we know of today.
I didn't like that it seemed like he was hurt only that Ashi didn't exist anymore. You're telling me that he wouldn't realize that happened to everyone? He would've shed a tear for the fact that he wiped the Scotsman from time.
@@davidteachout1888 I think that's why he was relaxing on his own at the end of the show. Time to think deeply on lost comrades not just aki, and then the game happens XD ruining all that bittersweet feel.
Great video. I enjoyed the humor in this show too. When Jack and the Scotsman are both exhausted and can barely stand then Jack says “then come get me” to quiet the Scotsman XD Also the slave master whipping then Jack says “You” and slashes him into pieces. Good times
@@dagogouranta5583 I don't know for sure if it is, but that would make sense, as his father always says "my son", so "Mai Sun" might be his actual name.
Here is something I never realized when I was young, was Jack's hairstyle a top knot? I always thought it was some kind of ponytail or something, but now that I know more about samurai, I think it was always a samurai top knot.
Yeah Jack has a top knot they are pretty much the same as ponytails really. Jack's hair was usually up all the time except for especially low points or challenging fights, aside from the newer season.
I love this show as a kid and still do. Even got the entire series on on Blu-ray. Also love that you use the intro song for this video. There is no other songs that would fit better.
