The Great Southern Brood of cicadas emerges at Mizzou 

As Brood XIX cicadas emerges on campus, we sat down with Mizzou Professor of Entomology, Bob Sites, to discusses the natural phenomenon. Brood XIX, also known as The Great Southern Brood of cicadas is the largest brood of 13-year periodical cicadas, seen across a wide stretch of the southeastern United States.
