The problem with BA is that they use these tiny planes with "economy plus" seats, sold as business, on medium haul routes too, the longest being Heathrow to Larnaca, it isn't a pleasent experience being stuck in one of these "pseudo business class" seats for over 5 hours I can tell you. They should re-market these seats as Premium Economy and drop the BC selling on them, unless they're willing to provide a club world cabin with a fully flat bed then it ain't true business class.
Watching various videos that feature BA It’s clear the onboard food offerings are where they are saving money at the expense of the overall onboard experience.
Amazing review; thank you once again Mark. I've never used the Eurostar, but will keep it as an option for the future. I do agree with you that the meal choice on board BA was poor, but, with such a short flight, I suppose it must be difficult to offer variety. Can't wait for your next expedition.
Thank you Jane 👍😁 Give it a go if you get the chance, I really enjoyed the whole experience and if you book in one of the sales that Eurostar put on every couple of months the tickets can be good value 👍 I hope you’re well and take care 😁
On shorter Club Europe flights the food offering is more basic. Not that its acceptable, but I would tend to favour the Eurostar living in North London and only being 20 mins from St Pancras. Plus don't forget the Eurostar leaves you in Central Paris.
Hi NBG, I just wished Ba would polish up their food offering just a little bit so that people would actually aspire to fly Club Europe rather than it being a means to end of using up Avios. It still beats economy but it could be so much better with just a little more effort 😂 Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend 😁
Definitely get a sense for the mass of folk at St Pancras, still love the way Eurostar manages this. The onboard service looks wonderful. As an expat now residing in Florida I took my wife to Venice last September using Club Europe from LHR. I’ve seen lots of negatives but must say as I was trying to look after the missus I was blown away with the service that evening, champagne, a great dinner, and cheeseboard. Even my wife’s gluten free dinner was well thought out and we negotiated the Alilaguna nicely inebriated. The seat thing is what it is I guess. Keep it going mate
My vote goes to Eurostar. I’m not a fan of British airways when it comes to short flights in what they term as business class. I thought that salad was a starter. The dessert had no appeal to me either. Looking forward to the Tenerife flight. That place used to be one of my favourite places. Don’t forget the sun screen. Anyway Mark, loved this video. Have a great weekend. Tina
Hi Tina, I hope you’re well…yeap Eurostar 🚝 for the win on this one. The “starter” was absolutely dreadful 🤦😂 Tenerife in a couple of weeks and I haven’t been for over a decade, do u have any recommendations? Have a great weekend and take care 😁
@@tradingplaces787 Where are you staying in Tenerife? We always stay in Playa de las Américas. The hotel we always stayed at was the Vulcano. It was a great hotel. It’s just a tourist destination that seems to be packed. Even at Christmas it’s heaving. The Hard Rock Cafe is a place to go. We loved it in there. I’m really looking forward to seeing your flight…….Hope’s it’s the Dream liner premium. Hard to get those seats. More expensive, but so worth it! Well it used to be lol. Take care.
Amazing and thank you for sharing 👍 I’m staying at the hard rock hotel in Costa Adeje, it’ got decent reviews but I’ve not stayed in Adeje before so don’t know to expect. Flying or should I say slumming it with Jet 2 couldn’t get seats on the Tui Dreamliner sadly but needs must on this occasion 🤦😂😂
You are welcome from sunny warm Chicago. We are enjoy the Air and Water Show for the city this week. Our Acrobatics Navy Team are flying their Fighter Jets over our city. It is very nice!! Plus a ton of other teams doing stunts and Boat Teams as also. Well, you have a great weekend as well. ☺
It's been proven multiple times that a train is faster point to point than a plane, up to about 500 miles. Nearly all the bollocks associated with air travel just doesn't apply for trains. Even things like luggage weight don't apply.
Dear Mark, great review as ever. Your filming and commentary are second to none. I’m surprised at the dessert on BA. I could never leave a dessert behind and an airline such as BA should be offering great puds! I know on international BA flights they serve those great chocolate pots which I love. Like you, I am a huge fan of BA and would be sad to see standards fall. That said, it seems that Club Europe could improve. They seem to be cutting corners with meals. My preferred route to Paris is definitely by BA. P.S. I like the cute way you pronounced Croque Monsieur as Croque Mon-sure 😊 The n is silent and so it is pronounced ‘meussieu’. Just sayin’ 😊 Have a great weekend and look forward to your next review.
Hi Richard, I hope you’re well and having a fabulous weekend ☀️🇬🇧 I feel exactly the same btw, I’m a huge BA fan, I genuinely love the airline and getting on board a BA aircraft makes me feel really happy and proud…until the meal gets served 🤦😂 Thank you for the tip with my French, it’s at these moments in life you realise you should have payed more attention at school 😂
Older A320 ceo with old cabin .. I Like the lounge in Paris!! The further fwd you sit the greater the chance of getting a meal choice 16:46 . I recently had salmon and Prawns which were both delicious.. Always worth checking at the airport or gate if any seats have opened up. Flying numbs taste, too...
Hi Richard, totally agree about sitting further forward if possible, sadly the club Europe Cabin was full apart from the one seat next to me. They had ran out of the chicken option by row 2 so it was goats cheese salad again for me 🤦😂 First world problem so i don’t like to moan too much but when you pay out for a premium type service and don’t receive it, you do feel some what short changed 😂 Have a great weekend and thank you for watching 😁🙌
@@richardstreet7518 LOL that's a good ruse - I used to order the Kosher option AND get the reg meal as well in CE ( that was back in the days I worked, 90's ). Not sure you could pull that one these days.
Splendid video! Love the Eurostar as I have used on all their core destinations. The service is more impressive compared to a plane once you remember the trains have a capacity of not far off one thousand people.
I get the feeling Qantas and BA are using the same playbook. As an Australian, I want Qantas to be the best airline in the world but they keep letting us down with similarly poor food in business class and some rather old aircraft that have seen much better days. I'd definitely choose Eurostar over flying between London and Paris. I'm guessing it may be a bit of a closer match-up if it was for the route between London and Amsterdam.
Hi JD, it’s sad to here that Qantas are using the same play book, it’s probably no coincidence that along with Ba they have the route monopoly so can get away with offering poor service knowing customers can’t take their business anywhere else 🤦 Thank you for your comment and have a great weekend 😁
Would've taken the plane, but only for as short a journey, as this, despite the seat and meal. The Eurostar was impressive though! Thanks for sharing, Mark. 😊 👍
Thanks Mark I agree the Eurostar is much better for food I have done trip a few times CDG airport is not my favourite I have done the flight a few times too. Eurostar wins for me too
Hi buddy, yeah CDG is a strange one, i thought exactly the same 😂 Everything is so spread out yet the terminals themselves feel really small so there is not a lot to do or look at 🤦 Thank you for your comment and have a great weekend 😁
Thanks for the comparison. TBH much depends on where you live and/or work. Of course E* scores if you live within easy reach of StPancras ... but what if you are located along the M4 corridor towards Swindon ? I agree BA's biz catering is minimal but really both it and AF operate LHR-CDG-LHR mainly to feed their respective hubs ... they don't overly concern themselves with p-t-p customers. Personally E* has now become too expensive. Yes it's a good product but fares (in all classes) have risen as the operator seeks to recoup losses from the time of the pandemic. Rail experts say that E* ought to lose its monopoly.
Hi Alex I agree with all your points and agree Eurostar certainly isn’t cheap, if it’s priced similar to BA which happens a lot of the time when BA don’t have a sale on then I’d pick Eurostar every time from my experience 😂 Thank you for your comment and have a great weekend 😁
Another restful and informative review, Mark You've definitely convinced me to bin Club Europe for Eurostar should United play PSG anytime soon! Why do I get the impression BA are costcutting ....
Hi Sandip, I feel they definitely are, over the last 12 months the quality of the food on board has definitely gone down, which is a shame. Eurostar for the win with champions league games in Paris 😂👍 Just make sure to get it booked as the draw is made as the prices get bumped up very quickly 😂 Have a great weekend 😁
For short journeys like this Eurostar has to be the best option (Business Premier is very expensive - a better option could be Standard Premier) - better seat and food. Generally I've found BA Club Europe food to be very good - maybe for the very short flights (
Well Mark - that excuse for a meal on BA was appalling, no argument. Club Europe really is quite an embarrassment to the UK. I was once on an evening flight from Krakow to LHR in CE. In those days BA did not offer a lounge at Krakow but got into a lounge using Amex ( shocking enough ). So - got on the plane, NO GRUB!!! BA had forgotten to load the catering. No grub outbound, no grub back. They didn't even send someone out at Krakow Airport to see if they could grab some snack stuff to offer the pax. Luckily I had some bags of crisps I nabbed in the lounge and when the FA saw them he begged for a bag, for himself he said he was starving! He went hungry..................
Hi Mr, i honestly think it’s totally unacceptable. I know it’s a first world problem and all and people in the comments will say well you still had food in the lounge but that’s not the point 😂 I’m sick of paying out my hard earned cash on flights and not getting what’s expected. 15 passengers were in CE and they ran out of the chicken option by the 2nd row 😂 Anyway rant over… god I dislike goats cheese salad! And btw, i wouldn’t be sharing my crisps out either 😂😂 Have a great weekend Max
@@tradingplaces787 Me too - Goats Cheese makes me heave just the whiff of it - if I had to put it in my mouth ?? ................well who knows - there are several unsavoury things I'd rather put in my mouth first ( and to all you out there that's not an invite to start a queue). The way BA loads catering really is the pits. I have oft missed out on my first choice in First Class. TBH it's shocking, as this has happened several times on a 787 where there are ONLY 8 First pax and 2 rows! I always kick up a fuss when it happens - last time I got 18K Avios compensation, and BA got a reputation bashing in the chattering circles I prowl...You have a great one there too Mark - you do cheer me up!
@@idanceforpennies281 It was under IAG and that Moron Cruz that BA was slaughtered. Cruz seemed to have a mission to morph BA into the long haul arm of Vueling ( one shit carrier and no reprisals ).
Hi Tina, 🤦 I’ve had loads going on at home so decided to take a rest over the summer holidays but I should hopefully have my Hard Rock video out this Friday 🎸 Thank you so much for your message, it really does mean a lot and I hope you’re well and have had a great summer break🤩😊
