I had a friend who loved the LOTR books, they influenced him in his life like the gods influenced the Greeks. When the Peter Jackson movies came out he refused to even watch the trailers, on principle. These days the LOTR still lives inside his imagination, meanwhile I'm stuck with Elijah Wood and muppets like Galadriel-from-marketing.

You can also see this in the rising trend of home gardening in Gen Y and Z and the increasing use of "dumb phones". Like you said, one of the massive miscalculations of the system is assuming that the average person can remain in a state of panicked outrage in perpetuity. Eventually many of us have found a way to step back and realize that the game is unwinnable and that the only way to win is not to play. We are like scarecrows who refuse to stand up anymore.

It's funny, I feel the same way about conservatives. I grew up in a rural conservative town, and was fairly center right for a number of years, but as far as I can see the majority of Americas real problems are a result of conservatism, and the nearly sub-human ghouls who make up our republican politicians. Even if the republican voters are largely sane or fine, our politicians seem to either be lunatics or Millionaires who are blatantly trying to use their power to make more money. So over the years I've drifted left and now am firmly a leftist (I'm 27) and it's shocking to me that anyone who actually cares about politics and what's best for the citizen can consistently vote conservative. I know nothing I say will ever change your mind, but what value do you see in conservatism?

I saw the writing on the wall about 8 years ago. Took me a while but I got out of a 70hr per week job, sold up & left my very diverse (and rapidly diversifying more every day) high crime city in England and made it to a very quiet and isolated spot where everyone looks similar to me. Guess what? Zero crime. Took me a while to get used to leaving the keys in the car overnight and the doors/windows unlocked. Before all the "white flight"ers chime in.. just do it. However you can. Folk like us have no business in a modern day british city. Refuse to partake and let them have the scraps.

25 years ago I had a similar realization, moved to a small town far away from my home. People near my home had never heard of the place. Even those who'd travelled the USA. But fast forward 25 years and that town has become a crazed "woke" place with vacuous but competitive people having moved here in droves, turning it into a stressed out place. 25 years ago it was tranquil and I left house unlocked, truck unlocked all the time. Today? Nope. No sir. With "gentrification" has come crime, petty theft being prominent. Anything laying around can walk away of its own volition, apparently.

It's actually the biggest white pill I've seen in a while. I've been saying for years that white men need to check out from this system and stop feeding our vital labor into it, keeping it alive so it can continue this genocidal process. The next big step after white men stop slaving away for the system is for us to exchange fiat currency for alternative currencies and precious materials. Hell, data is its own sort of currency these days. We can back each other up and build a parallel, or rather perpendicular system. The dollars the oligarchs print only have value because we act like they do. It won't be easy getting people to priotize saving the white race in the long run over immediate individual gain, but white men have already been heavily disincentivized from engaging in the rat race. I've never really had a strong desire for wealth and material things, so it is easy for me to pass up on the late stage capitalist system. I think I'm not alone in feeling that way, in fact it seems like more white men feel fed up with society at large than the handful that actually like the status quo. Those guys that do love this shallow, consumerist culture typically strike me as narcissists and sociopaths, like Andrew Tate, or just kind of shallow, vapid, uninteresting people...and they're mostly either leftists or non-white. Most of the people that seem to actually like this society are women and gay or crossdressing men and black men. This is definitely the most luxurious time to be a black person. It's also basically the worst time to be a white man. So it makes sense. White women are typically unhappy in general these days, but they fail to connect why they feel disaffected with the conditions of their society at large, which they predominantly support. But yeah, white men are the main catalysts for change, so we may still be able to turn things around.

It's not just the woke propaganda tbh. That's obviously a facet to the Hydra, but it's one of the smaller, less deadly heads. The largest and most vicious of which (imo) is the state of relations between young men and young women. We must remember that, for the most part, young men's investment, engagement, blood sweat & tears into "the system" throughout history was reliant on the guarantee (or at least, the promise/prospect) of said young men being able to obtain a romantic partner / wife as a result. It was always a sort of trade off - learn skills, work hard, be a man of morals/virtues, and you'll be rewarded. This is not the case nowadays. Indeed, if a system shows itself to not improve a young man's sexual/romantic prospects by him engaging in it, or moreover, actively works against his prospects (e.g. the modern socioculture of the West and its ideas about masculinity, MeToo, feminism, etc), then alot young men simply aren't going to see much reason to dedicate their time, resources and energy in supporting, progressing and protecting that system. At least, beyond ensuring their own direct needs are met. Until there is a great healing / sealing of the rift between young men and young women, I do not see how we can reverse the damage that has been done, and "remoralise" young men into taking on the mantle of society's innovators, upholders and protectors. After, young men are told daily that they're toxic, women don't need them, the issues in the world and throughout history are a result of their behaviour (particularly if they're white), and so on. Indeed, what are young men investing in and protecting if they pour their blood, sweat & tears into the current system? Gen Z girls who'll never make decent wives, let alone mothers? Pink haired feminists who despise men with a burning passion? Immigrant men from Uganda and Pakistan who get propped-up in free accommodation by the taxpayer? It's all nonsense, and even young normie men know it.

I think the general political lull and "homestead" trend is a result of the fact that there is no actionable solutions. Once you've gone down the pipe line, read the books, theorized, consumed endless livestreams, talking heads, and superchat reads; you come to the realization that you have no say or ability to change anything. All of what is happening will continue (or end) independent of yourself or one's preferred online sphere. The best you can do is unplug and enjoy what you have left; the knowledge you now have floating in the background. The normie feels this acutely post-covid without the ideological journey required.

It's an era where a good old fashioned revolution seems all but impossible, so people switch off. The system seems like it's forever, or at least immune from internal dissent, so the only present solution is to try your best to avoid it as much as possible. I wish it wasn't this way. I wish politics was what it promises itself to be, that is, a great big game where anyone can win and it's all up to chance. However, if politics is a game, it's the most rigged game I've ever seen.
@Pete-eb3vo
@Pete-eb3vo Год назад
'Unplug and enjoy what you have left'. That alone is the main reason why the world is deteriorated to the point that it is now. I may not be setting a example since i am making this comment, but nobody who cares for their country and the world as a whole will simply just take breadcrumbs because there's nothing else. If people want that steak, they have to fight for it and not whine about it.
@harrypike731
@harrypike731 Год назад
Indeed, the a recognises this despite not being 'red-pilled' in the way that those in our circles might be. This manifests in either 2 paths / outcomes; they either 1) "pull out" of the system aka 'Great Turning Away' as Morgoth puts it (can see this on TikTok / social media with trends such as cottage-core, 'slow living', 'choosing the soft life', digital nomads, full-time travelling/backpacking, etc). Or 2) they numb themselves with materialism, consumerism, and faux-celeb/success identity - aka The Deano archetype. Both are a sort of coping mechanism for the realities of our postmodern, neoliberal, GDP-focused socio-political systems...they're merely two sides to the same coin.

Books can be bought for a staggeringly inconsequential financial outlay and libraries are still there. If your own life is a bit tedious, books are still the best way to see what it is like to be somebody else for a bit. A good novel gives you the consciousness of a life lived from the inside. That little garden thing is great. I've always had a decent sized property, but I've never done anything with it. With all the craziness going on, me and my buddies decided to finally start a garden. It's more or less a farm now with peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, corn, cucumbers, beans, blueberries, limes, lemons, and so many herbs. I even accidentally started growing pumpkins in my compost bin. Every day I go out and do my chores, and I feel better than I've ever felt. I'm only 25, and I know a lot of people my age who are feeling and doing the same things. Hopefully, this could be the beginning of a better future.

I'm increasingly and inexorably drawn to nature as the answer to all of modernity's torments. Just being in nature reveals our own nature and we exist in a state of revelation. I've spent an inordinate amount of time staring at the flowers in my garden this year and wondering at their wisdom, especially the annuals. They lie inert in the earth all winter, but never forget how to create their lovely displays at the appointed time. Our season in the sun cometh!

From my top floor flat, I stare into the intermingled tree canopies, the leaves twinkling in the breeze. The air passing through them sound like waves upon the beach. In moments like these, I'm alive. Free from consta-anxiety, the sabotage, the hustle. Nature is a cure. Which is why I find myself jealous of natures creatures, for they live in reality, yet in comparison I am a lost opportunity in a lost world where madness and money rule over the soul and all it's capable of.

This is a person who’s always been a bit of a “red pilled” country guy but the recent change has been fairly dramatic. Insightful stuff. I’ve seen similar things happening here in Asia. In China, young graduates are “laying flat” (Tang ping in Chinese) and turning away from careers to pursue their interests. These kids will take a temp job, earn enough to travel and then head off, or loiter at home doing their thing until the money runs out. They’ll then seek another temp job. I’m currently in Hong Kong, where increasing numbers are getting off the career treadmill. Some are developing small holdings to grow crops (yes, there are green areas here). The same happens in Malaysia and, to a lesser extent, in Singapore, as folks reject life as drones in whatever industry is assigned to them by education.

The 'dark mystique' of Tolkien stemmed in large part from the fact that Tolkien's work had an in built barrier to entry, namely that you had to read a 1/2 million words of dense somewhat archaic prose. That barrier was removed by PJ. Where once one had an entirely personal picture inside ones imagination derived from merely written words there now lays all the images pre imagined. Gandalf is now inseparable from Ian McKellan in the minds of many, if not most people. Tolkien is now a 'franchise', and with that final corporate labeling, the magic is dead. Tolkien writes about this phenomena in his letters. It is a sad thing.

There's a book from the 90's with a thesis very similar to yours, called "Beyond Civilization". Here's a couple passages that echo what you're saying: "If the plane is in trouble, you don’t shoot the pilot, you grab a parachute and jump. To overthrow the hierarchy is pointless; we just want to leave it behind. As everyone knows (especially revolutionaries), hierarchy maintains formidable defenses against attack from the lower orders. It has none, however, against abandonment. This is in part because it can imagine revolution, but it can’t imagine abandonment. But even if it could imagine abandonment, it couldn’t defend against it, because abandonment isn’t an attack, it’s just a discontinuance of support. It’s almost impossible to prevent people from doing nothing (which is what discontinuing support amounts to). But won’t the powers that be try to prevent people from doing nothing? I can imagine them trying (but I honestly need help imagining them succeeding). (...) 200 Years Into the Future Gradually the economic balance of power shifts between “civilization” and the surrounding “beyond civilization.” More and more people are seeing that they can trade off a plenitude of things they don’t deeply want (power, social status, and supposed conveniences, amenities, and luxuries) for things they really do deeply want (security, meaningful work, more leisure, and social equality-all products of the tribal way of life). “The economy,” no longer tied to an ever-expanding market, will become an increasingly local affair as global and national corporations gradually lose their reason for being. Civilization will be left behind not by a sudden collapse, but by gradually becoming obsolete."
@finlaymcdiarmid5832
@finlaymcdiarmid5832 Год назад
There is no moral argument against it. Any attempt to attack the philosophy of abandonment is simply authoritarian. The only problem is where? I don't know if things will be quite as rosy as you describe this transition to be , as a zoomer who had parents a bit behind the technological curve by dint of being from a 3rd world country , looking at my peers in the current job market (in the first world) , the selection for applicants are partially filtered out by comparing their online foot print , this mean atleast for me they have a hard time pinning down any of my digital footprint since i don't have an account that links my face and real name ie instgram , snapchat , facebook , what this causes in essence is abit of a harder time for me to get a job (a soft form of force to make my self more visible to the all seeing eye), other examples include digitalising your currency (something Rushi sunak has expressed interest in - they can code in what amounts to be an use by date or else the money is useless) a softer form of this exist in the credit/debt card you have since at the whim of the corporations - think Mastercard ,visa they can cut your ability to spend money very easily and they have demonstrated this ability on some high profile people already ) - what im getting at is that there are ways to force people to become dependent on the state / civilisation and the decoupling of this maybe far more bloody then you make it out to be because there are only a precious few that are willing and happy to give up the power they hold and I doubt any of them are at the head of states / corporations .

In America and never really cared about immigration all that much until I went on disability and lost my home, so I had to look into section 8, but there are literally no openings.. The vast majority of the section 8 apartments in my small Ohio town are filled with recent mexican immigrants, who don't even speak English. It took my step mom's disabled veteran dad over 2 years to get help with a home, yet all these random Mexican immigrants get help like it's nothing? We need to help our own before flooding ourselves with the rest of the world.

Facebook never took my fancy because it just seemed like an excuse to nosey Parker into other peoples lives and thus become show off’s who were forever trying to ‘one up’ each other with their holidays, home extensions and fascinating jobs etc., etc. It was a place for posers and try hard’s to fake out each other….and have affairs with their old school crush as you mentioned. I didn’t have a great life and wasn’t interested in the people who had helped make my life shit back at school so I felt no pull towards it. I actually prefer anonymity because I can shoot from the lip without having to worry about it affecting my real life or the people around me and funnily enough I speak more of my actual truth through my avatar than I can ever risk saying in real life. Not saying that’s a good thing mind you… 😅

My favorite thing to do as a 24 year old dude is to take care of my garden. Water and cut the dead branches off my trees, collect fruits and veggies, work the soil and plant new trees/flowers. My biggest dream is to have that as the only work in my life and not spend my youth in a fucking office for 8 hours a day.

Great vid good sir, always a pleasure. Before the whole social media thing , I was pretty heavy invested in forum pages and groups, most were connected to hobbies and for a time - they were a decent, fun community where I met and made genuine friends ( who I then met in person) However once the Facebook thing really got up to speed that all changed as people spent less time on the forums and more on FB. Recently I've noticed a small revival of people using the old forums more. The general cancerous nature of Twitter, FB and the rest has got to much for folks ( me included) and they are going back to a format which works and isn't poisonous- much like the blog thing. Interesting stuff indeed. All the best mate, keep it going.

Crappy pay, 9-5 would be dream hours, and just overall decay of the systems we use and the product we are forced to push out. It’s exhausting, soulless, thankless work. Finding the out is hard but will be worth it in the end. Too tired from it to even have hobbies and interests. End up zoning out for an hour or two before bed. Workout for the sake of maintaining physical health. Highly support the walking away. Thank you for the video. Listening to it while I’m working
