James, hell yeah! I turn the volume down on the commentators whenever I play, just so I can hear the crown, and stadium announcers. Definitely gives you a better stadium feel.

It actually made it so worth it to start at a small college. I always picked Texas Southern and recruited 3* athletes I could change positions with(6'5 CBs FTW) until we got them added to the SEC eventually. Conference realignments was fun

Yes sir I kept my og xbox just for this game and to my knowledge it was the last title with historic teams and all time teams available in play now or drills. There was just so much more depth and features on this console

I played Ncaa 11 Football on PCSX2 it was super fun! I did the Princeton dynasty it was so hard I got fired at least 1 time.

Yeah it truly felt like you were running a program as a head coach and had to make tough decisions about player eligibility.

The NCAA literally shut my school down. No announcers, no bowls or ranking. Years long probation but kept winning because all the top talent still came!

I just graduated before this came out and it's why I had to keep my og xbox just for this game. I have almost all of the ncaa and this still seems like the best. I love that you have classic and all time teams available to play with on play now. No ultimate team paywalls, just a good time with a ton of free features

You’ll enjoy it man. It’s freaking deep and the fact that you can actually DO things against the CPU, not just use the same plays again and again.

NCAA 06 isnt just the best colleges football game of all time. Its one of the greatest sports games of all time. It’s up there with NBA 2K11

@@CronoXpono I had that problem in '13. It got boring after 5 dynasty seasons because every game felt the same. Going up against a scrambling QB? User the MLB and you'll get 10 sacks in the first half Have your slot receiver run a post and they'll be open 9 times out of ten.

I never enjoyed the Heisman setting because EA can’t ever stop EA’Ing and it would devolve in to a “jumping ten feet to pick off your pass” BS but a step lower and and you had a game for your ass! Oh and it was kinda neat, ya know, to have pocket passers lol it seems like most games afterwards were “if you can’t scramble you’re screwed”.

I just think it's great college kids are still hauling around old consoles playing these games

I drafted a MLB who ended up having a 94 speed and 88 agility. His name was ' Something Black" and as usual for me in madden i only played 2 seasons then got bored & restarted but i remember him prgressing to a 87 after being a 83 or 94 ovr rookie from late 1st round.. Dude was super fast like a younger London Fletcher and would dominate... ~I was playing NCAA 2009 ps2 and did a OLB CampusLegend/Superstar and it is hard af n defense & so easy to blow the play and they score.. I then put 201(tebow) on Xbox360 & sure it looks better but the gameplay was smoother on 2009 imo.. **Just got 2006 but havent played it yet.... I always play a crappy team as playing a elite school is pretty cheese.. Schools like Purdue or Connecticut or SMU are more fun to earn ur rank.. Sucks for recruiting as even a 4 star in 1st season is kinda impossible.. **They should have it so 3 or 4 higher ranked prospects want to play for home team... ive never once gotten a 5 star recruit in any ncaa year (/shame) gonna try 2012 +2013 at some point since 2014 is always $50 or more.. I'll find 14 eventually...

Bro this was my teenage years to a T. 23-4 in 2 years at Tulsa then a monster run with 4 NCs at Baylor. Loved this game.

It was weird for me. Hardly a bad game but it was like they alternated back and forth. Loved madden 2005 but the NCAA game felt clunky. 06 was rad but Madden that year was kinda meh. 🤷‍♂️ 05 and 06 makes it impossible to go wrong! 😁

Yea having classic teams and all time rosters made this a GOAT. Did they immediately drop that starting in 07 for the next gen? I can't figure out if they did it beyond 06 or not. You could even do drills with those teams, so many great features

It's the last one, most up to date. The dynasty mode was still pretty deep, the on field stuff was pretty solid and it was physics driven, madden's animation driven gameplay wasnt there yet. A lot more people still have their 360/ps3, not as many folks have working ps2s or OG xbox

The clips aren’t nearly as bad as madden and blocks hold up tackles are a thing the ai doesn’t go 20/20 with 11 yds I could go on and on but I do agree that it’s only thought extremely highly of because it’s the last

Same. This game had a strange soundtrack, but somehow it nailed the atmosphere of the game perfectly. It hit the notes of 90s nostalgia and your local college radio channel. The soundtrack still resonates 15 years later. I’ll always hold onto my copy of NCAA 06.

Michael Stein YES!!! Exactly!! I was only 15 when the game came out. I first I didn’t like the soundtrack, but sure enough I started singing along to “Ladykiller”, and “Debaser” while playing Race for the Heisman.

Ricky Hadou There are many things we can criticize EA Sports for, especially in recent games, but they generally have great soundtracks on all their games. I’ve discovered so many great songs I’d otherwise have never found, between the football games and FIFA over the years.

The one that I used the most was Bass Reeves University, which was this brand new university that literally came out of nowhere, and, by the time that the season was over, the team had shattered every single record that was a positive one in the NCAA, which also prompted an investigation into the team, and the university, but the NCAA, as well as its allies, all lost the suit after their claims of drug use by players were found to be false, never mind that BRU had anti-drug, and anti-alcohol, policies, that would make even Christian colleges and universities think that they were harsh. The founder/founding dean had lost a parent due to a person that was both on drugs, as well as was drinking, behind the wheel, and their city, as well as county was filled with corrupt people, before he drove them out, and ditto for the surrounding counties, and it made the area get a lot of jobs, as well as growth, as a result. The point was that the BRU Marshals were simply that good of a team, and they were not under the influence of drugs...basically, think of a combination of the 2000s to 2010s Boise State Broncos teams, the old University of Saint Thomas (Minnesota) Tommies teams, and the Kehres Eras of the University of Mount Union (Ohio) Purple Raiders teams, but better than all of them combined..that is how good that the BRU Marshals were in their first season. The team not only got an immediate invitation to the NCAA Playoffs, but that they also won them as well, as well as a national championship, and then, after Vanderbilt complained on how badly that they were beat by BRU, to say nothing of other teams of the SEC using Vanderbilt as a whipping post, Vanderbilt had enough and told the SEC that they were leaving the SEC for C-USA, effective immediately, as the C-USA would be both fairer to them, as well as would be more even competition for them, and then the SEC invited BRU to take their place...and then, after accepting their offer, BRU ran the table with the SEC, as well as with everyone else, again, and then made even better results in their second season, including being in the NCAA Playoffs, and having another championship season. The records and hardware that BRU was getting was insane...every award that could be achieved by a college or university in football, BRU won.

When this came out I was in the Marine Corps and a group of us would play this pretty much daily. My one buddy would use Arkansas with McFadden, Hillis, Felix Jones and 6'6" Marcus Monk outside. He would run the Wild hog triple option offense out of Gun and it was so hard to stop. Ever now and again he'd throw one deep to keep you honest. Such fun memories.

Having only all FBS recruits in Madden is unrealistic though. I wish there was an option where you can include all FBS and all FCS schools in the draft. NFL legends like Gannon and Rice didn't come from FBS schools.

Heck there were even some NFL players that never went to college though I can't come up with any of them on the top of my head afaik

I was born in 2001 so I got to play all these games amd Madden. Evem the college basketball games. These sport games were the best ever and way better than today.

Honestly we are all suffering without a College FB or BB game, they were some of the most fun games by far. Recruiting and cycling a roster, as well as building a program up is incredibly rewarding and addicting. What sucks is all these fun features by EA were removed with newer generation consoles so you have better graphics, Ultimate Team, and nothing else.
