Especially in a race of that quality. Nothing beats world XC for level of comp, perhaps with the exception of the Kenyan national championships!

Brilliant video. I remember this race so well. I followed Bekele's career and was so disappointed after the 2007 race. You are correct. This race proved he is the best cross country runner of all time.

As an Ethiopian, obviously I am biased to say in all my four and half decades of watching and participating in college track and cross country in college and road races with some hall of fame record of my own; to me Kenenisa will remain one of the greatest athletes in track, cross country and now the marathon; we have been privileged to watch. He is sure is one of a kind.

In a split second he would have had to decide whether the delay to put his shoe back on would be made up for the help it would give him. If he lost 30 seconds to replace it, would he run more than 30 faster than if he had simply continued (half) barefooted?
