The funniest thing about the whole crossover was the fact that no one had asked for it, no one even THOUGHT it could happen. But when it did it was freaking awesome.
Jimmy: Look. Even if we don't workout as pals, I respect you! Timmy: Me too! Let's agree to stay a thousand feet away from each other. Jimmy: With a pile of garbage between us.
Jimmy: i am over fairy god parents Timmy: what are you saying Jimmy: i'm saying fairy god parents suck Timmy: why you- Serious though i would unironically love to see a family guy chicken fight between jimmy and timmy
In regards to who "created" the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, that honor would go to former Nick executive Rico Hill, who was given a lone 'Story by' credit on JT1 and 'Concept by' credit on the other two. Butch Hartman has no idea what he's talking about.
As a fan of Jimmy Neutron, it always breaks my heart that I know more about Butch Hartman than the name of a single person who worked on the Jimmy Neutron. We deserved a 4th season of Jimmy. Not just the fans but also all the amazing people on the cast. Maybe we would have finally found out how they could breath in space T_T
As your local wildlife biologist and fish scientist in training, GENUINELY THANK YOU FOR NOT PUTTING A FISH IN THAT BOWL. Genuinely tensed up when I saw it shown like a ptsd response lmao
My favorite part about this trilogy is when characters point out the animation styles. -Timmy: hey, why’s everything so bulgy? -Jimmy: my hands, my arms, my depth. IT’S GONE! -Wanda: oh, dear, this universe makes my hips look fat. Cosmo: what universe doesn’t? -Sheen: look at me. I’m totally flat! Check me out: I’m flat, I’m bulgy, I’m flat, I’m bulgy! -Hugh: hey, look, honey, I’ve lost weight… and depth.
@@AndrewCARNBORN LOL! If i'd have though he said Dip has a kid i'd have just assumed it was a hair joke about that weird curl in his hair and then been confused because he still HAS that curl.
Additionally for the fish bowl- get some mechanical fish for it. There are some pretty high quality ones for decent price and you get the same sort of effect
I watched the second Jimmy Timmy Power Hour the night it premiered and I begged my mom to let me stay up and watch it. I remember at the end they teased the third Power Hour, to which my mom just gave a defeated groan and said "Another one!?! They're killing us with these things!" That moment stuck with me my entire life for some reason. Made me feel kinda bad for putting her through it.
i feel if anything, jimmy timmy 3 proves that made up villains for crossovers can work, it's so rad that they created their worst enemy, even if it was in the most intentional way possible lol
Professor Calamitous actually learns to finish things, as established in the Jet Fusion special of Jimmy Neutron. Jimmy actually calls him out on it and Calamitous says he took a self help class (and shock therapy). Jimmy Neutron has about as well thought out continuity as FOP, I think that's something I found really great about both shows.
I asked David Kaufman, the voice actor of Danny phantom, about the development of nicktoons unite since I couldn't find any info of it online and he said , the voice actors , including him , Tom Kenny, Tara strong and Debi debiberry , didn't record their lines together and basically took turns in between scenes.
@The0320Angela yeah i believe it was because the company that made nicktoons unite, bluetongue , was relatively small and cheap back in 2005 and didn't have a big enough budget
Honestly, the mere fact that they managed to this cohesively blend two shows that are not only so distinct narratively, but also so different animation and arstyle-wise, literally being a dimension apart, is nothing short of astonishing. I loved this crossover as a kid too, even though I've never actually seen Fairly Oddparents as a kid, only Jimmy Neutron. Expeirencing an animated crossover which I only new a single side of was definitely interesting, but didn't detract from the awesomeness of it one single bit.
@@jayjaybulldog9180 The Kids Choice Awards are pretty flawed. "Oohh, kids don't watch any of these shows, just give the award of favorite cartoon to Spongebob for the 20th time"
Infinity War being considered an ambitious crossover never made sense to me because technically they're all Marvel Characters and apart of the same universe and all stemmed from the comics.
Mark you're supposed to get the fairly odd parents bowling ball drilled to your liking. It doesn't come with finger holes so you can choose the holes yourself.
Imagine the younger generations finding out that this was the greatest cross over in Nickelodeon history, then learning there are three specials of it. I feel so old.
I feel like the adventures of jimmy neutron boy genius also has its fair share of hour long specials that honestly gives the ones from fairly oddparents a run for their money: - the 2001 theatrical movie - win lose or kaboom - attack of the twonkies - eggpire strikes back - league of villains - operation: rescue jet fusion
@@alex_-yz9toyes Operation Rescue Jet Fusion, he also later appeared in Great Egg Heist (I believe it was called), Lights Camera Danger, and the main universe not crossover finale League of Villains
33:03 There actually was a reason why they didn’t do that. In the Jimmy Neutron special “Jet Fusion” it’s actually revealed that Calamitous took a class to help himself finish his plans and sentences. Well, kind of.
Fun fact: The spanish dub of the first part of this crossover completely changed the voice cast of FOP to a Mexican one because the show didnt aired on Nick Latam during that time, therefore this had to be dubbed as a Jimmy Neutron episode (mexican dub) instead of a FOP one (Miami dub)
kinda makes me wonder if the first part was aired in italy as a jimmy neutron episode or something ebcause i swear the italain dub of 2 and 3 were constantly on but 1 never was... unless it was never dubbed... see kids foreign dubs of crossovers and tv movies is actually even more hellish than just making the damn things!
A similar thing happened with the German dub: FOP and Jimmy Neutron were recorded in two different cities, both at the other end of the Country (Cologne, West Germany, for FOP and Berlin, East German, for Jimmy Neutron). Instead of just using both casts, which they did with the 2nd and 3rd Part afterwards, they decided to record the special in Berlin with a new Voice Cast. The 2nd is completely unwatchable though, someone screwed up with the editing meaning that the Footage and Audio are completely desync.
I think it's hilarious how the Jimmy Neutron dubbers were respectful of the already-established FOP localized names and terminology for Part 1, but when the FOP dubbers got Parts 2 and 3 they didn't give a crap and did all the Jimmy Neutron stuff from scratch. Heck even the voices weren't trying to sound similar, which is super jarring because Jimmy had a pretty deep voice in the Latin American dub of his own show, but in the crossover they clearly used the English voice as a template instead.
I know the timeline for *FOP* is pretty confusing, but if these crossovers are canon do you think Timmy still remembers Jimmy and the others when he loses his fairies, or does he only remember bits and pieces?
I’ve been thinking they should do another one of these where Jimmy is a famous scientist meanwhile Timmy is just a bald loser like in the first episode of FOP and the whole time Timmy is just confused and has no idea what’s going on since he doesn’t remember any of his wishes.
This actually opens up a can of worms when you consider that episode where apparently Timmy made a wish to make everyone no longer age and be unaware of it for 50 years. Either this means that everyone in Jimmy’s wold are now in there 60’s, or this means that Cindy was dating with a 50+ year old.
When you buy a bowling ball it is supposed to not have holes yet, you're supposed to take it to a bowling shop and get holes drilled based on measuring your actual hand.
The reason they don’t bring back Dr Clamitus main trait, that he can’t finish things, is because in the spy parody episode he tells jimmy that he went to therapy and is cured.
You know, the scene in the first power hour when Jimmy enters the dimmsdale school really shows how he is now surrounded by a class full of morons. Even AJ, the smartest one, was dumb enough to think that Jimmy is Timmy in a disguise. And even with before that, Timmy’s dad and Vicky were also dumb enough to point of thinking that it’s just Timmy in disguise.
People complaining about Timmy in Jimmy's art style being ugly really can't be listened to - the art style itself is too ugly for that to be legit. Props to the Jimmy art team, of course, they did a lot with what they had; they just didn't have a lot.
Remember a couple of years ago when LS Mark said that butch hartman’s characters do not translate to cgi? Well, just imagine what the characters from danny phantom would look like in the jimmy neutron art style, they would be absolutely unpleasant to look at. Then again, who else wants to see LS Mark’s character in cgi?
I think those video games (Breaking Da' Rules, Shadow Showdown) did it fine. It's not like they could look worse than Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs in 2D! (THAT. NOSE! DO! YOU! HAVE! CANCER!? UGH!) Still, Fairly OddParents Game as an E/E10-rated Stick of Truth? GIMME!
My only guess they didn't have Calamitious not finishing his sentences is probably the Jimmy Timmy power hour 2 special released way after the Jimmy Neutron Jet Fusion special. In there he says he's able to finish his sentences is because he took a self help class.
But let’s not forget that Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 2 takes place after _League of Villains_ as Calamitous escaped the force field from the Cretaceous Period.
Fun Fact: Even though the specials are about both shows, officially through production they are labeled as solo “Jimmy Neutron” one hour episodes when you look them up on TV guides. Perhaps it was because of budgetary reasons with JN having more manpower in it’s CGI animation, but I don’t know. Just felt like sharing that info I found interesting. If anyone has more official info or just a theory about why that is, please feel free to share it in the replies.👍
What makes this crossover interesting isn’t just the clash of themes (Magic vs. Science) but also the differences in presentation. While one being 2D and one being 3D is rather obvious you also notice the differences in terms of character design. The characters in Jimmy Neutron have more detailed designs while Fairly OddParents has a more simplistic style. You can notice this whenever they switch worlds and how the character details clash. It’s very interesting.
Tbh I would be so sad if Jimmy Neutron ever ended up getting as bad as season 9 & 10 fairly odd parents. But I highly doubt their creators would've done that considering the main reason FOP went downhill is because the creator (who is a nearly talentless hack) gained more control of the series. Despite him having no idea what he was doing and hiring people who, frankly, just didn't give a shit.
@@jayjaybulldog9180a super bowl of nick wouldve had every show in one crossover Kinda wish that did happen I seriously wanna see Invader zim interact with Danny phantom characters in a 50 minute episode
I think the thing that makes this crossover special standout from the rest is other then the animation styles being different for each world. The writing still remains in tact for each world. Like how Timmy in jimmys world, the humor is more grounded but goofy but the FOP world is more balls to the world’s zany humour that defys logic. Really helps the specials standout in a way.
Yeah, I like better when crossovers switch the artstyles/animation of the media based on because when they don't, they look more like those edited "X character vs Y character" videos. Not to mention, seening characters in different artstyles is awesome
I love the fact they had talked about the animation style like Timmy saying why the word “bulgy” and Jimmy saying “depth”😂. They even did a great job changing the characters hand fingers.
I LOVED these specials as a kid. Revisiting them here is such a throwback, I remember really being into the whole Cindy having a crush on Timmy and Jimmy getting jealous lol
Some of the chibi Disney shorts do have voice acting, actually! They're really charming, some use pretty crucial plot points from the shows featured, like the one about Phineas & Ferb x The Owl House which is voice acted too!
I’ll never forget reading Nickelodeon Magazine and seeing the ad for the first special and ABSOLUTELY LOSING MY ALMOST 6 YEAR OLD MIND!! The excitement for all the specials I had was unreal
Supernatural and Scooby Doo was totally good and their was also the good and witty Animanicas crossover episode with Animanicas, Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Toons and Freakazoid! lol.
7:55 Jimmy Neutron characters have more than one character trait? That is like THE SHOW where each character has one thing they obsess over. Sheen with Ultra Lord, Carl with Llamas, Libby with music, Cindy being tsundere for Jimmy. They even had an entire episode about how Jimmy's dad is so obsessed with ducks that he has to find a new hobby.
Imagine Jimmy always wondering what happened to Timmy when he stops visiting because he got too old. It'd also be weird remembering you had a friend named Jimmy but not knowing where you even met him or why he looks funky in your head.
Honestly considering that According to Nicktoons unite Fairy magic can’t effect the multiverse (at least to the degree that it can in the FOP universe) imagine the Nicktoons crew remembering Timmy and his godparents but Timmy straight up forgot about them outside of vauge memories of a boy genius, teenage heroes, a happy go lucky chief and a somewhat mentally unstable “kid”.
Mark, just so you know, when you buy a bowling ball you’re supposed to get it taken in to have holes drilled into it to fit your hand. This makes it so you can use your own ball easier than the ones at the bowling alley.
I honestly like Timmy more (even though he is an absolute ass hole) Could be because I watched fairly odd parents alot and I only watched the Jimmy neutron movie
@@maxmeidl4909Geez, you sound like a Karen in all honestly. You’re in every comment saying the same catchphrases. Now let’s say if Nickelodeon was caring enough to bring back the Fairly OddParents with at least two more seasons with actual redemption and going on a more serialized route instead of the typical Status Quo is God trope before ending it off on a high note at long last? Then what? Are you still gonna cry and keep throwing shade at the show like any other?
46:06. Fun fact. On 2014 it was actually announced there was gonna be a Nicktoons feature film with a lot of characters crossing over. 10 years later if seems the project was shelved, maybe after the reception of some movies of legacy characters.
Hot take: I prefer Jimmy over Timmy. Why? Because while he can be a bit arrogant, at least Jimmy has an IQ and didn’t get flanderized unlike like Timmy. And at least his show didn’t go through a horrible case of seasonal rot. Just look at the fairly oddparents season 10 episode, return of the losers, where timmy is portrayed as a lazy braindead moron. Not even sheen was ever that dumb in his own series. I’m pretty sure jimmy would be all like, “dude, you make sheen look like a nobel prize winning scientist”.
Honestly, I preferred JN myself, even before FOP got bad. I still liked FOP a good lot but I thought JN was both funnier and had more of an adventurous nature.
5:25 Legitimately sounds like either Butch: 1. Keeps his cards close enough to his chest like a businessman or 2. He's so divorced from the project, aka just director's fringe top down view he has legitimately nothing to do outside of the initial planning he did at the start and just chillaxd for the rest.
This came out when I was 10 and I was absolutely blown away by it. I remember recording this on a VHS so that I could watch it whenever I wanted over summer break
I think what makes Timmy's 3D more uncanny is that it's mostly a one-to-one translation, whereas Jimmy's 2D look is arguably more stylized. I wonder what it would've been like to see Timmy designed as if he were an actual Jimmy Neutron character, or if Jimmy's 2D look was in a different artstyle.
The first and second are my all time favorites! This was the biggest thing to happen on Nick, as a kid, it was awesome seeing two of my favorite characters come together. You just don't see fun crossovers like this anymore. Early 2000s Nick was the best era.
Definitely one of those "you had to be there" cartoon moments of all time. (Looking back, it is kinda strange that besides the Johnny Quasar stuff, early concept art and promo material around the time of the movie and first season, we don't have too many behind the scenes instances with Jimmy. Not even for anniversaries. Nick's been weird with the series since Planet Sheen flopped up until the past few years. Heck, according to John A Davis himself, he and Nick ALMOST struck a deal to bring Jimmy back in 2020. Can only imagine how the CG would look now, maybe we'll have better luck around the 25th anniversary.)
@@brandonlyon730 Only time will tell. With how much the series has been talked and vouched for by fans in recent times, it likely has better chance now for anything. But it's all up to Nick. (And arguably their safest bet on what most would be okay being revived and properly finished.)
It works because these are 2 different unrelated shows with 2 different design styles with 2D and 3D. Plus it was completely random, because who ever thought these 2 series would crossover!?
Most likely because the special just turned 20, and with FOP: A New Wish releasing, people are going back to rewatch the original FOP for the first time in years
And a month later, we had an even better crossover without warning! One that we would watch ALL DAY and would have to DVR the entire schedule to watch!
I’d love to see a video on Jimmy Neutron. Not only is it 1 of my favorite Nickelodeon shows, but it’d also be fitting since, you already covered 3 out of 4 of the Nicktoons Unite heroes. 😁
I think the best part about this cross over is the fact we see th se characters swap visual styles. Thats not something we commonly see on cross overs.
Back when cartoon crossovers were very rare these days. My all time favorite crossover is the Grim Adventures and KND one. It's both hilarious, and a creative crossovers ever made.
Yes please do a Jimmy Neutron retrospective, that would be awesome! It was one of my biggest obsessions as a kid, and the fact it was cancelled before it had a chance to lose its charm really makes it something special to look back on.
