One of my favorite bad chefs in HK history is Salvatore. Sweet guy who never spoke bad about his teammates and blamed nobody but himself for his mistakes. I’m really happy he had at least one good service in his seven episode run.
Same as Adam, he was not a jerk and owned up to his mistakes, knowing he fucked up and attempting to fix it. So many chefs are the complete opposite, the lack of accountability is annoying
I'm torn between being glad that Trev was mentioned (his flawless performance here and in the charity service in Season 18 highlight that at his best, he was unstoppable) but sad that in order to make the list, he has to be described as a 'bad chef'. For a talented but inconsistent Black Jacket chef, he was pretty standard. And his commentary was always the funniest.
Let's not forget that in Final 7, Motto and Brett can't stand him anymore and in the elimination, Brett and Trev blaming each other but Chef Ramsay eliminate Trev anyway because his performance getting worst. Also, Brett mostly hiding behind Motto, what a coward. Also, Trev is right, Brett is mostly a one trick phony as he only excells at Italian food but not at other food. Thank God he didn't make it to the final or else he's gonna cook all of Italian food for the finale! Even Mia who is Puerto Rican didn't always cook Puerto Rican food and only cook it on finale to show her root
I’m surprised this list doesn’t include Matt at the Top 9 of Season 4. This was the first service where he got switched to the Red Team after he said the men bullied him off his section and that his rival Ben was hiding behind Bobby. Then on his first service on the Red Team, he was one of the best of the night, with Ramsay even saying one of his risottos was one of the best in the show’s history at that point. All the while, Ben flopped BIG time and would end up getting the boot that night. In any case, that was easily Matt’s best service during his entire HK run.
tbh the only reason why I didn't put Matt on was since I talked about that service in my karma video and a future video as well, so wanted to give some other chefs a chance to shine!
@@FlynnMasters how bout chefs who get eliminated when they shouldn’t have a few that come to mind Richard season 12 Katie season 13 randy and Alison season 14 Louross season 4
It makes me so happy to hear your thoughts on Lacey, cause I agree wholeheartedly, everyone seems to exaggerate how bad she was, acting like she was one of the worst in HK History. While obviously not the best, there were WAY worse chefs that season.
Lacy's biggest problem was her attitude, always whining and threatening to quit. She was an inexperienced but decent cook. It was her attitude that brought her down.
@@alejandroarroyo5124 it was night 2 and still got put up with Colleen cause the ladies didn’t want to work with her and then ji announced her withdrawal cause the injury she had before service was really killing her
I’ve often said that Robyn is like the Ra’Jah O’Hara or Jerri Manthey of Hell’s Kitchen, not just in terms of how much more likeable she became when she went back on All-Stars with the villain redemption arc she got. But I’d argue her challenge and service performance improved when she did All-Stars. She stumbled at first (so you could maybe compare her more to Roxxxy Andrews than Ra’Jah), and switching to the dominant Blue Team that season really helped her in the long run, but I’d say she improved at the right time. That said, sort of like Ra’Jah on her initial season, not only did she get a serious villain edit, but her performance was EXTREMELY rocky. I’m glad she was able to redeem herself with her All-Stars run though.
Robyn's performance (and personality) from Season 10 to Season 17 was practically night and day. She still could be inconsistent and occasionally still clashed heads, but to say she was the same chef from Season 10 would just be wrong.
@@AlessandroChiarelli I don’t understand why so many say she should’ve gone over Van. Like, what did she do that service that would’ve warranted her going home? And don’t say the two second M&G she had with the chef’s table, that was not worthy of putting her in the bottom. Van was one of the weaker chefs that night, so him being in the bottom was warranted. Did he deserve to get the boot, I’m not sure. I know many were upset because of how likeable of a character he was and how good of TV he made. But if there were any other options to be eliminated that night based on the service, it wasn’t Robyn. The fact that Ramsay immediately sent her back in line after her plea confirms it was weird to nominate her.
Video on the most successful post-HK careers? Also S11 probably won't make many peoples' favorites list but I would love to see chef probation make a comeback.
Sterling at Bryant's Final service is my choice. He was picked on and targeted by the Blue Team his entire time there. Bryant mended fences before he was moved to the Red Team, and it ended up saving his best performance for that night!
@@daonlygoatNo he wasn't. Like Barbie before him, Sterling was targeted and bullied by teammates, with Bryant and him getting off on the wrong foot. However, as we saw, Sterling and him cleared things up. I mentioned Sterling here because I felt he deserved credit for his outstanding performance at the Finals. He singled handedly saved Bryant's service that night. While many chefs would have held a grudge against a rude chef to quietly sabotage him by not giving their best (Russell, S8) Sterling didn't do that.
The funniest thing about Lacey is that everyone thinks she should’ve gone home a lot sooner, etc. but like she had some pretty solid services? The only mistake she made before her last 2 episodes was not having the gas on in opening night. Other than that she was personally picked by Ramsey to do the scallops instead of Colleen in service 2 (Meaning she must have done stellar if Ramsey decided to pull that maneuver). And you have to also consider her being pretty demoralized after having good services but people like Carol & Andrea will really have the nerve to say to your face “Yeah you deserve to go up over me despite you having no mistakes” especially in Service 2 & 4. I mean I certainly would do the least if my team wanted to be petty and nominate me despite doing good.
Guess they just make the contestants voice what they were thinking at the moment. Forgot which season it was but in the signature dish challenge, one of the guys was complaining in the confessional about the last man to go up who presented pork tacos, even though the tacos ended up winning the challenge for the guys.
This should be interesting. I mean bad chiefs is kinda subjective as arguable (at least according to the season 10 cast when they went head to head with them) anyone who isn’t a winner could be considered “wasn’t good enough to win” (as the final 6 of season 10 thought rather lowly of the runner ups coming back albeit the black jackets actually did worst according to Gordon)
I’m gonna be honest, I feel like Lacey just needed more experience. You have to remember she was 24 and was like a banquet chef or something. I think if she had just a tad more experience and maturity as someone like Danny, she would’ve done well
What'd Dan do, exactly? I watched HK11 and never really had a problem with him, aside from flipping Zacky Wacky off, quite literally, behind his back. I know he's generally hated, but I don't really see it.
Dan had a huge attitude problem and would clash regularly with his team. Yes, some of it was uncalled for, but the way Dan would react and talk highly of himself even on the other services when he didn't do as good always meant that he was going to be under the firing line no matter what he did. Oh, and his comment about waiters certainly got him tons of heat from HK fans.
Dan had an attitude and the Blue Team got sick of it. so while he did have that good performance it's definitely obvious that his attitude was what lead to his team putting him up for elimination. the middle finger too Zacky Wacky was probably the most noticable instance of the Blue Team not being able to stand him.
Also, Dan and Ray mostly argued a lot and they didn't act their age! Remember Ray was 51 while Dan was 27 at that time and they both act like man child.
@@margarethmichelina5146 I will give Dan this, While he and Roy argued and acted like man children. at least Dan didn't sabotage Roy for it unlike Zacky Wacky who got his feelings hurt because Roy told him to "fuck off".
Let’s not forget how Salvatore during his pretty great service was knowledgeable enough to nominate Scott, recognizing his terrible service and being an overall weakness, in spite of Scott being his closest friend.
Don't forget Zacky Wacky on opening Night Season 11. When most of the Blue Team members get kicked out, he is the only one left and even throw up because of the stress but he bounced back and save the day along with Christian who served table side, and 2 Sous Chefs (Andi and James). Can't believe he becomes wackier after that.
Next video could probably be “Most Lopsided Services.” One team does really dominate the service, but the other team just falls apart and might have to rely on the dominating team or getting kicked out, most likely. A few examples I thought of include the S13 Black Jackets vs Sous Chefs, the S6 Special Event Service, S18 E6 Service 5 Men (this is the episode Chris left) vs 7 Women, and a few others.
@@lucakiami8988seriously. All stars red team was an absolute train wreck (mostly cause of Elise) while the blue team of that season is one of the strongest blue team i ever seen
Trev might not be the best chef, (though I think he's better than what you say here) but he's one of my favourites. He is extremely honest, which sometimes is to his downfall, and I rooted for him both times he was in HK.
I didn’t like Trev initially, but after seeing how horribly he was treated in both of his seasons, I became a huge fan of his. He was bullied constantly by his teammates (Russell and Scotley being the worst) but he always took the high road and worked his hardest in the kitchen instead of trying to fight back. Was he a great chef? I don’t think so. But, after everything he was put thru, he had me rooting for him the whole time. I hope he’s doing well nowadays
I'd be interested to see a version of this for challenges, either best challenge performances by worst chefs or worst performances by best chefs. Featuring Dave's incredible crepe, and Will in Season 9, one of the best competitors of all-time, serving a terrible pudding dish that one of the guest judges called 'rancid'. Oh, and Bret making a soup out of canned tomatoes in Season 18 when he really knew better.
I think Trev gets way more flack than he deserves. Yes he was terribly inconsistent and his personality could rub people the wrong way, but the guy clearly had passion and deserved to be treated better not just in Season 8, but Season 18 as well.
Matt’s episode 9 performance in season 4 is up there. Fran’s episode 5 performance in season 7 would be another good inclusion. And honestly, Vinnie was pretty solid in the finale for Rock. Especially compared to Josh.
Vinnie's performance in that Season 3 finale is definitely quite forgotten about. He was probably the worst chef that entire season, even worse than Josh, but somehow managed to have a near flawless performance when helping Rock out. Rock managing to get such a performance out of Vinnie was probably what definitely boosted his chances of winning, even though he was already going in as the favourite.
Fun fact: There's a deleted scene of Season 3 finale when Chef Scott is frustrated and keeps nagging about how sucks Josh, Brad and Vinnie are and he has to jump in to help them out.
Salvatore is one of my favorite chefs man. Even if he sucked in Hells Kitchen, he always just seemed happy to be learning and just did his best. I’m so happy he had his big night in the spotlight.
Trev isn’t a bad chef. If he was bad, he would’ve been one of the first boots in season 18. But he got 7th out of 16. He out cooked people like Kevin and T. And Robyn doesn’t suck either, she made black jackets twice, and both times she deserved it. Both of my favorite black jackets in this video, yay.
Frankly, I wouldn’t even count Dan as a bad chef. I’d say he was one of the better ones who just got nothing but disrespect from his team and was always ignored (goat dish being passed on for Michael’s when it was better, et al). He would have benefited from a team switch.
Names you should’ve mentioned: Season 3: Melissa (opening night) Season 4: Rosann (opening night) Matt (first service with the red team) Season 7: Fran (5th service) Season 10: Roshni (service where everyone except her and Brian got kicked out) Season 15: Kevin (2nd service)
@@MrGordon000 I thought Christian didn’t get kicked out too but I don’t remember season 11 since the drug addict won and Jon got screwed over with shit teammates
If I had to include any chefs not mentioned, I'd include Elise at the F10 of S9, which was surprisingly one of her best nights in her time on the show...as inconsistent as she was. Yeah, I'd say Elise deserves more credit as a chef, since she was by not means awful (culinary-wise), but she was ridiculously inconsistent. She's a chef who deserved every nomination she got put up for, but had random bursts of beast-mode cooking skills. And even her teammates acknowledged she kicked ass in that service, so that has to count for something.
Yeah, honestly, as much as I hate to admit it because he is my favorite person personality wise in the season BY FAR, Tommy was the clear weak link in the black jackets in S9, and is a dogshit cook, and leader who is far worse as a chef than Elise, and even Carrie. As inconsistent as Elise was, she's far and away better than Tommy, and at least shines and puts out a great performance a few times...Tommy never did that.
@@margarethmichelina5146yeah but that’s over, like, 15 episodes, and 3 of them were in the first one. Only 1 or 2 mistakes per service is better than most HK chefs can say
Hot take but I feel like Jackie's final service during the finale of season 15 deserves an honourable mention here. Jackie is definitely one of if not the least experienced constant in hell's kitchen. For someone who has only been cooking for less than half a year, you've gotta give her credit for her gifted skill.
This needs a part 2 for sure. I think Royce in Episode 3 of season 10. After 2 bad services, he crushed it, and led his team to their only dinner service victory that season.
Matt from S4 had a similar situation from Robyn and Trev, Fran from S7 had a good service at the final 12, but still couldn’t help but screw up the nominations, and Ileana from S21’s “Sear it put it in and pick it up”. Just a few ideas I could think of
Roshni's episode 7 performance in season 10 was excellent. Considering she was clearly the weakest chef in the competition at the time and was bullied heavily by the red team, she completely knocked it out of the park.
Unlike popular opinion I thought Trev wasn't bad in Season 8. He did have some good services, often coming right after a team switch. He did even make it to 7th in Season 18. So while I agree that he would not have made it to Top 4 in practically all of the seasons after #8, I still think he could have made top 6 in many of them.
For Season 9 Red Team, the only good chefs on the team are Jennifer and Elizabeth but the latter is mostly on her own world and an airhead. -Elise can be good but she mostly inconsistent and only focus to make drama -Natalie mostly spends her time on Blue Team, even though the Blue Team only won 3 services, they win a lot of challenges. -Carrie is mostly insecure and be Elise's punching bag a lot and she's also talkative. -Jaimie tried her best and is mostly not good enough -Krupa makes a lot of mistakes and even get drunk one night before the service -Gina just sucks -Amanda is first boot and forgetable. So, yeah, Jennifer is the only good chef for this team and if only she didn't get betrayed by Paul and Will, she will make it to top 3.
I don’t think Trev belongs on a list of bad chefs, unless it’s bad black jackets. He was more inconsistent than outright bad, and despite his occasional whining (okay more than occasional) he worked his ass off
Do u guys think Lacey Is Overheated I understand her nasty Personality but Like She Said Shes Genuinely A Nice Person pls Don’t Judge me this just my personal opinion😅
1:43 uh…hi? ☠️☠️☠️ 3:02 Dan frozen after Anthony says he should be up for elimination ☠️☠️☠️ (side note: dan should not have been put up for elimination this episode. I’m surprised Gordon didn’t give Dan BOTW)
@@AlessandroChiarelliExactly! After all out of the 4 nominations, Barret should of been nominated too and eliminated for leaving parchment paper on his salmon.
@@AlessandroChiarelli Dan should of been kept over Barret in the next episode. In fact Ray should of been nominated too for serving a cold burger to Ramsay’s son along with Barret who served pink chicken to Chef James Wife who was a couple months pregnant. All Dan did that dinner service was had a brunt pizza came back. Nothing major compared to Barret & Ray. Even though Dan was a prick at times he could of gone a little bit further than both of them.
Gabriel one my most hated people in hell kitchen cause got rid my boi Ralph cause blaming him for having one worst service yet shouldve went home much early and omg seeing him get injected mid service was one my fav moments in hell kitchen history
I’m thinking of doing reverse, Worst services by great chefs. I don’t count winners like Nona or Cristina. Also some other bad chefs with a great service in my opinion are Sabrina, Fran, And Matt.
Season 13's JR has a great service on episode 3. He was one of five chefs not to get kicked out that night. The thing about Lacey's strongest service being on the Garnish station is that the likes of Koop, Barret and S6/18 Ariel will tell you that station is arguably the hardest station in service.
I thought Trev was great, if he was able to get along with his team he would have been a lot better but he let emotions get to him, when he had to run the kitchen, russel, Nona and Jillian all just ignored him, my boy got done dirty
I would add Vinny's service in episode 4 season 8, after the service after that he peaked and went on a downward spiral losing the budget challenge to sabrina, serving ramsay's family an old risotto and getting kicked out in the service trev dominated by screwing up a ricotta and spinach dish which was shameful for an italian american. Id also add melissa in season 8s final service where she was on the meat station and was notorious for overcooking steaks ahead of service only to do it with scallops the next service, she then got nona's family's order and delivered helping nona to victory, quite a miracle she was the 2nd pick for her too You could also add royce in season 10 when ramsay called ralph from season 1 to give royce a pep talk which resulted in him doing well, ramsay even said about needing to do that alot earlier to get royce going. Roshni as well dominated a service on the blue team with Brian and Kimmie (who tanked on southern night) dominated one service as the last of 2 standing for the red team. Also worth adding jackie in season 15 on the final service, she helped ariel to victory by dominating her station and the one danni left behind when she rage quitted And maybe trev in season 18 in the mens red team first service win
I’m really glad you chose to focus on the positivity and didn’t say a single word about these chefs’ mostly poor performances following these fluke (kinda) services
How many times has there been services with one person left? If there was enough for a video, I think it could be a cool video, I can’t find any compilations about it so it wouldn’t be too copied.
My favorite was definitely between Lacey and Dan I really thought Lacey was going to make it to the black jacket tbh but she already put her self in a deeper hole in the early start of season 5
@@AlessandroChiarelliit was still selfish, even though Ralph was mediocre, he was doing a dinner service with little sleep if any at all, and he actually felt a little sick Im not excusing his terrible service im just saying what Gabriel pulled was childish
