If they thought British cruelty was exaggerated, they don't know history at all. Indians can never forget Jalianwala Bhag massacre by these satanic minions.
Actually this represents the movie plot.. Bheem grab child which represents he's mission to find Malli and protect his people and Raju grab the flag because he was an officer with a mission and then they exchange flag and kids means atlast they become friends and help eachother to complete thier missions
Anybody doubting if British rule was evil can just read about Jallianwala Bagh, that takes the cake or watch Sardar Udham Singh if you want to learn by watching. Some more instances I can mention - 1. A common practice of punishing people rebelling against the British Raj was tying them up to a canon and blasting them so their body parts could be flown and distributed along the fields. That's one of the ways to "Civilize" Indians. 2. Another common practice was to make the protesters crawl through their chest and lick the streets on places where violence against a British guy happened. 3. Many are aware of the Bengal famine which killed 4 million because of Churchill's policy of diverting food supplies for reserve stockpiles for forces as he said " Life of a Indians is worth way less than a British" and " Indians are a beastly people with beastly religion". I can provide sources if anybody has a doubt on any of these instances.
This. I am tired of people questioning the cruelty shown. It’s seriously hilarious and astounding how out of touch with reality these morons who spew this crap are. Seriously, you actually think that in a pre ww-2 world, British colonizers in a country of people that they did not bother to inhabit or integrate into and just sucked backbreaking taxes out of like a leech for 2 centuries, would be all warm buddies with the indigenous peoples? Think twice about what you’re saying and use your head. Reality is way way nastier than anything fiction can even dream of depicting without it looking downright absurd.
@@suvratpandit5701 how would they? After all "The great British" won.. And history always supports winners! Irony is the same people who praise British empire, hate Hitler
The stuff still haunts India in some way too. 40 million dead & 45 trillion (in modern day economy) stolen from the country, never returned to this day.
Over a 100 million Indians died during the British 200 yrs of illegal occupation of India. And people are saying this is Right wing propaganda. It's like they're living in a different world
fun fact - the war bikes at that era weigh only 50 to 60 kg which a normal soldier can lift but flipping is another thing which depends on your believability
The song and dance scene at the end was a tribute to the freedom fighters of the past. The Iron Man reference is the nick name of one of those people they highlighted.
I found the film to be a masterpiece. To me it was like a combination of the count of monte cristo, braveheart, the best of buddy movies and musicals rolled into one package with over the top action sequences. It wasn't just a mashing of these elements, they all connected with the same thematic cords and did so seamlessly and with great ease. I didn't have to understand the culture or history to understand the symbolism and that is because the film took great care in setting things up and making sure they stayed consistent. The elements and all of the emotions it extracts from you are genuine. It ensures a human story before it tells the story of a culture. Hollywood is obsessed with false platitudes and illusions of inclusion to push political messaging while RRR actually made something for all people while telling a specific story about a specific people. I have not known much about the culture but I can tell you this movie made me well up in tears and shout out in celebration at the successes of the hero's. It is beautiful. We don't need representation to understand one another. We are all human after all and timeless themes touch all our hearts and minds.
Im watching this movie right now and it’s fucken insane . At the very beginning I had to look away when Maili’s mom got struck in the head . That scene was to painful for me to watch.
@Mukesh Devgan You must be one of those that are upset because Bollywood has been proven to be a bunch of passionless uncreative jackasses by south industry.
Contrary to the myth that Britain gave many 'gifts' to India, the British Raj was a cruel and oppressive regime responsible for the deaths of an estimated 35 million Indians. Bengal famine and Jallianwala Bagh massacre and also WW1 and ww2 death of soo many indian soldiers are big event that happened in that time And 48 trillion stoled from India by the British
36:53 As someone who has done some amount of research into the British Colonisation, no Scotland, Wales and Ireland were all in support of colonisation and provided their own troops with the United Kingdom forming after Scotland was deployed to India, hence why it was called the British Empire. Normally, I wouldn't speak up about this because it does sound like I'm trying to defend the English and criticise the movie/director (which I am not, I don't support any colonisation efforts and never will plus the movie is fucking cool) but considering Irish, Welsh and Scottish nationalists like to pretend that they were innocent in order to make their country look better, I felt like I should say something. Not that any of this detracts from the movie, the actions in it or the story being told which I do encourage because this part of history should be told.
The scotts have been loyal soldiers of the british empire for centuries but they always like to pretend they were never willing collaborators in imperialism these days
Scots were disproportionately employed in the Indian civil services who were the officers who basically ruled India. They were instrumental in India's exploitation. Also huge amount of money exploited from colonies was spent on Scotland as a way to cement the Union. After India's independence as the cash cow got dry the bonds started loosening.
Scottish people and Ulster Scots were disproportionately involved in Indian Colonialism. Irish nationalist definitely influenced and supported Indian Independence.
If you loved this film and think this was crazy the writer director of this RRR also made a film where the main protagonist gets killed in first 30 minutes of film by the villan and then he gets reincarnated as a FLY I'm not kidding an actual house fly and it's a Arnold commando meets Rocky training Montages , trust me the words are not enough to describe how campy and over the top crazy this film is RRR is actually one of his more grounded and realistic film compared to his last few films 😂😂😂😂 The film is Eega
@@r_bear I know right, this film was my childhood I have seen it probably thousand times, it was on tv almost every weekend if I remember, I never got bored of this film 😂😂😂😂
I found your guys channel bc of the masterpiece Cowboy Bebop made by our good old Netflix, your review was more entertaining then actual show and I have been following you guys since then Thank you guys for watching this film from my country ❤️❤️❤️
The last song was a tribute to revolutionary freedom fighters who fought against british and the side profiles were of them representing different regions of India It was not some nationalism agenda.
You can't even imagine how much British have fu*#$d up with Indian subcontinent 🙃🙃🙃 This movie doesn't represent even 10% of it !!! And Britishers think it's made to hate them 🤣🤣🤣
39:00 Farming tools have nothing to do with Soviet. India is an extremely fertile and agricultural land since 145000 years. Just as Swastika is our HINDU symbol of prosperity and good luck. Just because Hitler copied our sign to get good luck for his bad deeds, doesn't make OUR SIGN bad. It's incredibly foolish to think Swastika is bad.
In the end it's not rama,it's legendary freedom fighter(Alluri Seetharamaraju) from telugu states and that's his attire in the end, rajamouli elevated him like god
Ever heard of "symbolism".. This whole movie is about symbolism.. If someone call alluri seetharamaraju bhagwan Ram in that particular scene (which director S.S Rajamouli intentionally did in that scene, to show Ramaraju as bhagwan Ram) than what's your problem... Why so hate towards bhagwan Ram... Where you think Alluri sitharamaraju got that dressing style ,from British?? Where you think his name sitharamaraju taken from, from Bible??
@@beastmodeon7121 I am from south India (Telugu States) i love God Rama.Alluri Seetharama Raju doesn't have recognition anywhere expect Telugu States. So i just want everyone to know about him,it's our pride to talk or tell the Story of legendary telugu freedom fighter
Calling it a Movie from the Indian Film Industry works the best cause there a many more Film Industries in India :). Great review absolutely loved it 💯.
My recommendation Watch 😍 ~Bahubali 1 &2 and egga by same director. ~Sardar Udham ~Tummbad (horror and best visual) ~Minnal Murali (best superhero hero )
I think the snake venom cure thing was pretty believable. I mean, the snake was probably endemic to India so the British wound not have known/cared enough about it to have an antivenom.
Wouldn't necessarily say all of the CG of this movie was really bad, this movie had over 2800 VFX shots and 18 studios have worked on it including studios who work on a Hollywood movies, most of the animal shots were done by MPC who also made Lion king. The only reason some of the shots looked janky because they had 1/20th the budget of other big Hollywood movies. If all of the CG was bad, you would've noticed it on every single scenes.
06:33 Aggro's comparison to professional wrestling is really apt considering the weekend before this went up we had Brock Lesnar lifting up the ring with a fucking tractor.
This director seriously is great he went from directed most exciting and fun movies ..you can check out bahubali and bahubali 2 Or I can suggest few good Indian movies 1)bahubali 1 and 2(history fantasy epic) ..from same director 2)ludo(crime,comedy) 3) Andhadhund (crime, thriller) 4)sardar udham(real biopic) 5)eega ( fantasy )....old but good and from same director 6)3 idiots (comedy)
6:33 the comparison to Japanese Anime/Tokatsu and WWE is exactly my thoughts while I watched this film. this honestly felt like going through the entire Character arcs of GOKU and VEGETA from the start of the Sayian Saga to the end of the Buu Saga. and the fact that there is no Snarky cynicism or Winking at the audience by referencing movies so that the audience knows not to take anything seriously.
The song "Dosti" during the Friendship Montage got _lost in translation_ . In reality the song is not literal whatsoever. The best way to watch this movie is to switch off the subs during the song to enjoy the experience because the subtitles during the song is annoying & doesn't do justice to the song in any way shape or form.
@@dudejoe24 it's pretty poetic. Some parts are translated to the direct meaning of poem. So when you read the translation, you don't realise how poetic it actually is. Same with Komuram bheemudo, sholay and Ramam Raghavan. Dosti song basically summerises their relationship throughout the movie with a lot of foreshadowing but more poetic than the translation. The lyrics of Komuram bheemudo make me cry. It's just so beautifully written.
@@dudejoe24 also there are a LOT of Ramayana references in the movie, everytime you get a reference, it's just a different feeling. There's also a shlok from Bhagavad Geeta in the movie. With translation you only see the story. But when you understand, the movie has a LOT of symbolism. Even the slightest expression change was a foreshadowing of stuff and such. It's a really well made movie though the story is kinda cliche, the director takes the crown.
Solid 8/10 movie for me. Aside from some unfortunate jank in CGI and action scenes, I just loved everything about it. If anything it was too short, I would've loved to see more of Ram and Bheem just hanging out and being best friends.
On the topic of it feeling dubbed, most contemporary Indian films don't just dub the voices in post anymore as far as I know so if you watched this in Telugu it wouldn't feel that way. But on western Netflix only the Hindi dub is available so you guys did watch a dubbed version. Major Indian blockbuster films usually get dubbed into a variety of Indian languages so it's a fairly common thing.
Very easy to make fun of the CGI. Let's see if James Cameron could make Avatar or Russo brothers make avengers movie with the film budget of 72 million dollars.
you can dislike or like the movie, you can make jokes... all fine, bt don't for a moment think british were less evil, they are actually portrayed less evil here. if you have no idea about british india, just watch sardar udham which is a real biographical movie. it really happened
39:20 They are all Real Indian Freedom Fighters and the Ironman you mentioned is one of our great leaders Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who is also called The Ironman of India for his unparalleled efforts to unite the whole country.
no foreign countries can understand what is india.Bcz they adopted a foreign abrahamic culture , and they hav only one language . whereas in india we hav more than 1000 languages n all religions with different cultures.
Anybody can understand it by reading, visiting, learning etc. Europe and Africa also have many language and many cultures. That's why this region is called as Indian subcontinent.
hope you guys watch more foreign big budget action moves The Battle At Lake Changjin is really good and it really interesting seeing the Americans be the bad guys
Regarding the CG, only the wild animals were bad for western standard. There are so much CG that people wont realise is CG - like the Raju intro scene with the large crowd. The crowd was CG. The fireworks CG was good, The train was miniature actually.
It's the Hindi version only that is available on Netflix to appeal to the larger audience base. Telugu version sold in much lesser amount to local Zee5.
@@marcusrino6197 Whole western world is watching RRR in original Telugu in theatres not in regional Hindi dub. The Telugu version of the movie was released again after intense pressure from western audience to watch it in original Telugu🔥 language.
This movie is more of a fantasy movie imagining a "What if these two persons ever met?" since the two historical characters never actually met each other in real life.
When British came to india , the GDP of india was 25% of the world and they left india , the GDP was 4% and india was the one of the most illiterate country at that time when they left . They committed atrocities which you guys wouldn’t believe . Just read about “Jallianwala bagh massacre “ on Wikipedia or watch Sardar udham Singh movie. The culprit was forgiven and applauded by CHURCHILL himself . Just read about “Bengal famine “ , 4 million people died because of Churchill ‘s decision . You guys probably don’t know about it or never heard about it because you guys [former colonialist ] control international media houses , United Nations , human rights organisation and many more . Armerica is still the guardian of democracy and human rights by destroying and killing innocent people of IRAQ , Afghanistan , Vietnam , Japan because they are rich , powerful and own everything.
Some observations about RRR and Indian cinema differences with Hollywood films: Indian movies are usually 3 hours long, this includes an intermission half way through the movie, introduced so the audience can take a break to buy snacks in the cinema and return for the second half of the movie. What this usually means is Indian films cram an entire movie following a 3 act story structure into the first half, and end on a cliffhanger for the intermission, which is what RRR does. The second half itself can almost be considered its own movies...like a sequel, to resolve all the conflicts from the cliffhanger. Most Indian movies are also musicals, in fact, the film industry and the music industry is one industry - all the famous singers in India have established themselves singing in the movies. In RRR they only have 2 sequences where the characters burst into song, so RRR is more on the conservative side when it comes to musicals. Some Indian movies can have up to 10 songs (romantic comedies).
The biggest reason india became a under developed country from been the wealthiest nation on earth for centuries is the British colonial rule and how much they looted from India is 43 trillons. Its a fact believe it or not. The American economy is half of that in the 21 century
I don't get why the hell they are taking everything literally. This movie is larger than life . Not to float on physics laws. The mocking laugh is irritating.
Music numbers act as marketing material for movies in India, songs are released one by one and stirs a lot of interest and curiosity around the movie, so people go and watch the movie in theatres, same as it happened in USA, natu natu got viral and caused enough interest and curing at some people went and watched it and from there on it is just word of mouth. These songs usually have some story highlights that makes people thing why that happened, this strategy has worked very well in Indian cinema

Sir there are literally tribes existing in India, who are great at treating snake venom. Especially in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh regions. There are medicines companies who take their help in research for creating medicinal cure.
There is no doubt that british were cruel but i am waiting for South Indian cinema to make a movie on the islamic invasion of India they were completely inhuman. No other country / people have faced genocide like Indians. 80 million have been killed in the last few centuries.

there are 5 major film industries hindi film industry(aka bollywood as you know) telugu film industry tamil film industry kannada film industry malayalam film industry and i recommend you not to call it with any woods. And jrntr is not your avg actor....he is a single take actor and dancer, singer, tv host....almost doesn't rehearsel and does his shots in single takes. ram charan is also a good actor where a maturity in his acting observable from his previous 2 films.

British were even more brutal than shown here. Winston Churchill was responsible for the death of 3 million people in bengal due to british induced famine. ..British looted India.
I liked your take but 9:00 The English didn't have a cure for it, but we did! The best doctors never come to India but go from India. Surgery, sex change operations all done before western medicine even began🤷♀️
We have biggest actors like Chiranjeevi, Prabhas, Pawan kalyan, Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun as well from Tollywood do a background check on these as well and you are gonna blow your mind for sure
Ram Vs Bheem. Who will win ? According to Hinduism - In movie, Bheem symbolizes - Lord Hanuman (avatar of God Shiva) and Ram symbolizes - Lord Rama (avatar of God Vishnu) For fun, try comparing - God Shiva VS God Vishnu.
Re: the film looking like it's dubbed. It was! Well, if you watched it on Netflix. It was shot in Tamil (the "T" in Tollywood), and the one on US Netflix is dubbed in Hindi.
If u want to watch a realistic movie genre on the british atrocities watch sardar udham. The last one hour is on par with schindlers list n saving private ryan in terms of brutality. All real history on the jalianwala bagh massacre
8:53 About the two wounds; The spirit of Lord Rama is believed to have entered the Raju’s body. That is the reason why he fights inspite of broken bones.
@@toanoradian I'm not talking about that specific word but the entirety of the song which when translated, it often comes out wierd. U can understand only how different it is if you know Hindi.
Since you guys asked about the propaganda. Indian leaders since independence were secret Hindu haters and they favoured other religions especially Islam. They never said it out loud though. But the policies reflect this clearly. This made Hindus(majority of India) furious overtime. That's why they voted for the BJP party(which represents Hindus) in huge numbers. This movie showed hindu gods like Ram in a glorious way. This made the opposition parties pissed. Because they fear after watching this movie, even more people will vote for the BJP because the hindu in them will rise😅. Obviously this wasn't the intention of the makers. The writers are Hindus themselves and the director SS Rajamouli said this many times publicly that he was very inspired by hindu history and mythology since childhood. End song was just a montage of paying respects to various Indian Revolutionaries who fought against the British and how they were from different parts of India. No propaganda there.
