With over 345,000 people set to attend the 2024 Indy 500, it's set to be a massive race for IndyCar. But with Scott McLaughlin's record-breaking pole position lap, and a front-row lockout for Penske, will the other teams mount a fight back, or are Penske set to dominate at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? We sat down with 2022 Indy500 winner Marcus Ericsson to find out his thoughts going into the weekend, whilst Steph Wentworth chats with Charles Bradley and Joey Barnes to find out everything you need to know before the 2024 Indy 500.

To be reasonable Scott never raced an Oval before his IndyCar debut, let alone Indianapolis, and driving sedans only as well?...It's pretty amazing not likely a monty!...Brilliant driver Ericcson and a great interview.

SM to pull ahead early in rain shortened 500 and the win. If its a wash out and delay or re-run .... there will probably be bit of chaos as everyone's strategies and setups are thrown out and teams scramble , someone from the pack will get lucky. Rossi or Sato perhaps . Someone with enough speed , experience and balls to take advantage of whatever gets thrown up.

Meh I've always tried to watch it every year but ngl you might as well tune in for the final hour or 30 mins. It just drags on forever, thankfully we have sky sports without all the crazy constant adverts....god knows how American fans watch it. It's literally unwatchable when it switches to commercials every 2 mins & even when it doesn't it split the screens. Anyhow Marcus & Sato are 2 good lads, wish em all the best.

You’ll probably be watching a bunch of F1 cars following Verstappen around Monaco on TV because you can’t afford to attend. Meanwhile over 300,000 of us will be watching close racing at speeds of over 230mph.

‘Greatest’. As an American watching F1 since 1988, I’ve never once watched the Indy 500. The cars and driving in a circle are just not interesting

That doesn’t make it bad or unimportant it just means you don’t like it. Same as a lot of people thinking the same team dominating every race in formula 1 gets boring

@@alanluscombe8a553 Indycars peak was early 90s and since then, decade to decade viewership has dropped . Formula Ones peak is right Now, with increasing viewership decade to decade. Indycar is is most definitely Not the ‘Greatest Spectacle…’ just ask Nascar

@@rossrreyes they are not talking about the entire series obviously a world wide series is bigger than an American only one but the Indy 500 is definitely top 3 one of the biggest most important races in the world. It gets world wide coverage drivers from everywhere come to run it including formula one drivers. Racing isn’t just about who watches it the most every week it is a history and tradition thing that factors into it as well and there are tons of sporting events that say they are the best in the world it is nothing new. Indy 500 is part of the triple crown of motorsport. Indy 500 had been around for decades before formula one was thought of. Those things make it important. But I guess everyone in the world is wrong and should have asked you.

It just seems like an awfl viewing experience. Goes on for hours but worst thing is the constant commercials every 2 mins and you miss the action
