Spongebob Squarepants Battle For Bikini Bottom has always been one of my favorite video games of all time. I remember picking up this game back in 2004 after catching eye of it in a grocery store, and the rest is history. Join me as I take a trip down memory lane and analyze exactly what it is about this game that appealed so much to me, and why it's stuck with me to this very day.

My best memory is on my ps2 I didn’t have a memory card originally, so I kept playing jellyfish fields. Then when I finally got a memory card I was amazed at all the levels and stuff there was once you progressed. Btw I love all the rehydrated content !

My whole family used to play this game with me. It was only video game that I actually liked as a kid and brought my family closer throughout that and now we’re continuing the tradition playing rehydrated. I was 4-5 when the game came out and I am getting ready to be 22 now lol.

I remember playing this on GameCube for the first time back in late December last year. It quickly became one of my favorite games of all time. When I got Rehydrated, I loved it so much it took me less than a day to finish. I will never forget the first time I played it. God I love this game.

This game actually taught me how to play games. I knew saved games were a thing because I was a Nintendo kid and my games would save automatically. However, I somehow kept pressing new game and assumed BFBB was like an arcade game and you had to do it all in go. Possibly attributing to my lack of being able to read, I never realized there was a “Load Game” button. The farthest I ever got was the RoboSandy fight until I figured out how to load my games. That’s just an example of one of the many gamer lessons that I have learned from Battle for Bikini Bottom

Thank you for explaining why Spongebob: BFBB is such a great game. It’s something I’ve never been able to explain in my own words, so I’m glad to finally see why it had such an impact on my childhood other than really liking the game. Your story about how the game made you feel better while you were sick was so heartwarming and the thumbnail was adorable too. If anyone says Battle For Bikini Bottom is a bad game because it is licensed or some other dumb reason, I’d like to direct them to this video to show them that is it still a good game even if they didn’t like it themselves. Because I know that despite the critics, this game has had a positive impact on people’s childhoods. It certainly did with me, and it sounded the same for you.

Best BFBB review I've ever seen! Although it was The Movie Game that introduced me to the gaming world so it's closer to my heart but I competely get your point! I remember how excited I was after unlocking each new level! I was so into it throughout my entire childhood! I hope they will remake that game as well and make it even better! You definitely should go and interview Shiraz Akmal! The Project Director of the OG BFBB! Tell him how his creation can change billion kids from around the world in SpongeBob gaming. Maybe he has more story, some OG BFBB secrets that never shown publicly and more unused concept besides Robo-Squidward, Patrick's Dream and Glove World!

What made Battle For Bikini Bottom special compared to games like Sonic or Mario is that it proved that games based on cartoons can be held as good gaming ,what makes it great is its a game about a TV show that is still just as enjoyable to play as it is to watching it while at the same time staying true to the concept and essence of the cartoon (Not all games based on cartoons/tv shows are like that) a lot of people love SpongeBob and even though its a cartoon a videogame offers an extension of the cartoon, where you can actually walk around and see how big the world that you watched as a kid is, running around Jellyfish Fields or Bikini Bottom or going inside the Krusty Krab, its almost like being there, also it feels like the success/influence of this game helped paved the way for games like Shadow Showdown, Opreation V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E. and Ed Edd N Eddy Jawbreakers/ The Mis-Edventures ( Which happens to be my favorite cartoon games, praying that they take the best from both platforms and make a remastered version) That aside, I think its good that this game is making waves coming out Rehydrated because its been a while since video games based off cartoons was mainstream, I guess they went out of fashion or something but I find it blasphemous on why Steven Universe, Regular Show and don't started on Danny Phantom had their own videogames ( And not just a one-off for a handheld) but something like BFBB which even though in a different platform still shows how fun Spongebob can be. P.S. I never'd played the original version and just finished BFBB Rehyrdrated on the switch, and it was fukin FANTASTIC!!!!

I loved pretty much every part of this game! I've been attached to this hidden gem since my parents bought it for me for Christmas! I share the same love with the Spongebob Movie Game too. Whenever I played one of them, I had to switch between them over and over. I hope they Rehydrate the Movie Game too! I also want to mention another great hidden gem that was released in the same year (2003) as Battle for Bikini Bottom. Piglet's Big Game (PS2/GC version) may look like an ordinary Whinnie the Pooh game, but it's actually a unique light horror game! Like Heavy Iron, Gotham Games put a lot of heart and soul into this gem. The graphics for its time was pretty impressive and the soundtracks (and creepy omnipresent abience) was very catchy. Just wanted to bring it up because it isn't as well known as Battle for Bikini Bottom and it deserves to be more recognized!

When I was a kid, I was OBSESSED with Spongebob. More specifically, the first Spongebob Movie. Another thing i was heavily obsessed with was video games. More specifically, my PS2. I would play games like Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, so on.. One day my dad got me the movie game, and I would literally NEVER turn off my PS2. I was a special lad... I dont remember exactly what happened, but somehow I lost my original copy of the movie game. Its ok though, because my parents bought me the Happy Squared Pack, which included the movie game, and BFBB. I had never heard of it until then, and I remember looking at the back box art, and was immediately intrigued by the simple fact that you could PLAY as Sandy! I remember watching the opening cutscene for the first time. I remember beating the game (not 100% of course) so many memories with this game. And now playing through Rehydrated, issues aside, I felt like i was 7 years old again... :) Great review my dude! ;)

SpongeBob's Dream is my favourite level for sure, tho Sand Mountain is a close second, and Goo Lagoon as the third. SpongeBob's Dream for having multiple gameplays on it, and for Sandy's Dream existing; Sand Mountain cuz sliding; and Goo Lagoon having a beach setting, wich I really like.

One day I went into gamestop looking for a cheap ps2 game that looked fun but nothing caught my eye. Then I saw spongebob and nearly ignored it because, though I liked the show, I didn't think a good game could be made from it. But after noticing the army hat and the word battle in the title I grew interested. It made me think there might be more to it if they want me to battle for bikini bottom and so my mom bought it. Then I played it and was immediately reminded of the jak, ratchet and sly series by its gameplay and knew this game had a charm. Taking influence from the ps2 platformer kings was a great idea.

I'm not English so as a Child I had no clue about the Englisch voices of the Show. However the Game was only available in English. idk. The Mr Krabbs in the Game is just Mr Krabbs. xD Dont think the voice actor for him was bad.

You know, everyone hasn’t talk about the different versions of this amazing game. not counting the console versions there were two versions of battle for bikini bottom, there was a Game boy advance version where it’s a 2D platform we and it has the Squidward robot which was cut in the console versions, There was also a PC version where it has the same gameplay as Employee Of The Month, this hasn’t become shocking but my only gripe I had in this video is that you haven’t talked about the different version and how they’re represented, you could’ve talked about the differences between the Game Boy Advance, PC, and Console versions of Battle for Bikini Bottom but still I like it, it’s a great video, that is all.

0:15 so sandy was originally going to run after you but in the final build she only walks towards you. In rehydrated she now runs after you. So they are adding in cut content. In rehydrated when you jump on certain trampolines you now do a fancy spin such as seen at 30:29 .... Something that was seen in the beta of the original but was cut in the final build. Fish announcer has more lines in rehydrated and spongebob says an extra line for the cruise bubble.

Honestly the only thing I hated about the game is the fact that they couldn't get Mr.Krabs and Mermaidman's actual voice actors. I never had a problem with Kelp Forest but that rolling ball challenge still sucks lol

I'm probably the only human in existence that loved the original Kelp Forest. Personally, I never had any issues with the lighting and to this day never had to increase the brightness or anything. Probably just me tho :/

I remembered the old commercial that they would play spongebob squarepants battle for bikini bottom rehydrated and look where we are now today time flies when you’re having fun. I had the same exact thing was video games and spegetti and I would eat it all of the time. Hopefully you would become best friends with me on discord and we can talk about spongebob squarepants the musical in two different perspectives between the broadway version which is your version in real life and my version seeing it on tv. I had the gamecube version of spongebob squarepants battle for bikini bottom while my uncle Richard had the Xbox version as shown on 2:24. I agree to you on that and the graphics in general they definitely need to fix that but once when rehydrated came it blew everyone’s brain 🧠 out and even my brain out. Spongebob’s Dream is my favorite of all of the level followed by rock bottom in rehydrated version and sliding in Texas style in rehydrated now that’s something to talk about. In heavy iron studios you wouldn’t go inside of the boss fight area and free roam while in rehydrated you can free roam in the locations that the boss fight were there at the time like robot sandy in the poseidome. Sand mountain is one of my favorite levels just to have fun and just go sliding and the music on the sliding is so catchy that they reused it in the spongebob squarepants movie game now that’s something to be looking for while playing the game as shown on 18:40. We are bro’s because we are finally best friends and bro’s on discord hopefully you accepted it on discord as shown on 24:16.
