Throughout the world, stockpiles of uranium and plutonium, as well as other radioactive materials, are stored in facilities that have not received the level of scrutiny warranted by the potentially devastating implications of a security failure. This film, produced by Carnegie Corporation of New York and Blue Chalk, examines these threats and what can be done to prevent a nuclear catastrophe as world leaders gather for the fourth and final Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, D.C.

What makes this more scary is that there are already 50 missing nuclear weapons across the world.

Can you provide citations for the data used to make the graphic of security breaches?

Hi Carnegie Corporation. I appreciate the research your team has compiled here. While terrorists would certainly appreciate the enormous destruction a nuclear attack would provide, do you think some of them might see such an attack as detrimental to their cause? If ISIL, for example, successfully detonated a nuclear bomb in a major U.S. city, wouldn't they understand that this would mean instant and certain all-out war declared against them by the majority of today's world powers? Could they accomplish more with smaller attacks that gain big amounts of press while allowing them to draw in new recruits and spread to new places in the world? I think this reasoning might stand for any terrorist group. From a strategic standpoint, it seems a nuclear attack would be a terrorist organization's final blow once they feel their position is significantly strong and assured, and not something they would do casually. I would hope such a strategic consideration can give us hope as well as time. I appreciate any thoughts your team has. Thank you.

I believe a nuclear attack is imminent unless we can decommission all our nuclear facilities, and weapons (which won't happen any time soon.) For example, they could go to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and set off a conventional or improvised explosive device, probably causing as much damage as both of the bombs the Americans dropped during the second world war. I don't think it's a matter of if, but a matter of when. These people are in the same frame of mind as the fascist alt-right. They believe they are morally just in whatever they do, they are taught to believe in crazy conspiracy theories, reject reason and logic in favor of emotion and irrationality. They also believe in building an empire or caliphate, just like the alt-right. Russia and radical extremists have a beef that goes back to World War 1. This is not something that's just going to go away, just like white nationalism. White nationalism goes back even further than World War 1, to the days of imperialism, before fascism was even a word. People will be shocked to the core, paranoia will divide the already divided even more. I don't believe in fairy tales, I plan on learning how to deal with this eventuality.

@@adhamabuirtaimeh7410 and sacrifice you shall should you commit an atrocious act such as mentioned here . When airplanes flew into out towers killing people, we responded in a way that sought to rid the enemy but preserve the innocent and their infrastructure. I can assure an act of this magnitude wouldn't illicit such a careful response. Could you in theory achieve you goal. Of course. But the consequences, or "sacrifice" you would make in doing so will be something felt for many many generations to come.. Yes you may destroy a city. But the response to that would be as if Allah himself reached from the heavens and wiped your entire Homeland of anything resembling you, your ancestors, or future hopes of ever having anything close to what you know as home now. America is tired of fighting a Savage enemy with velvet glove tactics. 21 years later and we are still drone striking leaders responsible for two towers. A very very small part of a city, that you hint at destroying. It doesn't take a smart man to realize that the sacrificial payment for destroying and entire city would be in an amount you not only can't pay, but wouldn't be willing too pay if you could.
