@@martingrey2231 Yeah, I have watched a lot of old 1940's movie serials, including ""The Green Hornet." There was a bare-knuckled fistfight in every chapter, and amazingly, not a single man lost his hat!
Notice the green hornet came out mostly at night. Now batman was pretty much running around in broad daylight. Makes sense since Britt was shown actually doing a job on regular basis. Just once couldn't they show Bruce doing something other than waiting for commissioner Gordon to call
The Green Hornet needed the cover of night time as well. To everyone except his gorgeous secretary and the DA he was a bad guy. Actually, they filmed during the day but with filters to make it look like night time.
This show gave BRUCE LEE the Exposure he deserved. Too bad the bean counters didn't realize how to market it and cancelled the show because it took away from the Batman Tv show.
Much, much better, with the exception of the final double episode, with all of Batman's ridiculous bizarreness but nothing of its campy fun and humour!
@@jackjaws004 Few people had an appreciation of martial arts at that time. A friend of mine who studying Karate always made a big deal about Kato's fighting skills and he ask me to pay close attention to the fight scenes of Batman and Robin and Green Hornet and Kato. Batman was a better fighter than Green Hornet true. But the fighters such as the Joker who often times would grab Robin by the throat and start choking him and making Robin cry out "Help Batman" ... Kato would have broken the Jokers arms and legs if he were to fight him. But in those days little kids preferred seeing Batman. My friends 6 year old son told me "I know that Kato is a better fighter I can see that. But, I still like Batman more!!!" And then he said something to which caught me by total surprise. He told me "But, remember, Superman is a best fighter of all!!!" Lol!!!!
one thing I always liked about this show "besides seeing Bruce Lee kicking a$$* was they never revealed the name of the city...with Batman you always knew it was Gotham City.
Very good episode, helped by the presence of a sexy Lynda Day (soon to become Lynda Day George) and James Best, of "Dukes of Hazzard" fame (or infamy, depending on your point of view about that show).

IMO the over use of dark filters to simulate night was one of the reasons the show didn't make it. In 1966 when a lot of people still had b&w tv's it must've been almost impossible to see.
True BUT if you think about it now it makes some sense. Britt had a telecommunications company to run. Not a lot of free time during the the day. All Bruce Wayne did on the show was sit around Wayne manor waiting for commissioner Gordon to call. Yeah he was millionaire playboy but damn couldn't he attend a board meeting or something? Just saying
@15:11 the telephone answering service is actually using a real life operator whom might me taking down messages from any caller. That is interesting. Compare nowadays which has voicemail at the end of the ring tone. :)
The video hasn't been digitally restored and the original print is faded which is why it looks so dark. If they remastered it it would look very different.
I watched this when I was kid, seen all of them including this one! to bad they replaced kato ( bruce lee) with the other. I thought bruce made a better kato!
The whole car-chasing-a-plane scene made no sense. Why cut off the plane's engines for a little smoke? Neither did Britt telling Kato to wait in the car while Britt sneaks around the hanger trying to be a big James Bond-type hero. I like the acting. Van does okay with his lines, and Bruce Lee is a marvel to watch. However, while the the writing was decent initially, it got really goofy towards the end. What a shame, the series had so much potential. But it was like Star Trek, which the brain-dead network bozos also cancelled around the same time. Only Star Trek was given a little more time and better writing to hook its audience.
This show HAD to fail. It was a violent, adult show, unsuitable for the kids who just watched batman and Robin. Lee and Van DESTROYED the show with their acting.
