The best part of this is this is coming from the person who actually WROTE the song, so you can totally trust that she's doing everything right and it's not some random person's interpretation of the song. Turns out that while I was playing the right chords, the rhythm was off and the post-chorus or finale or whatever it's called I was playing wrong. Thanks REL! So glad you hit 20 K subscribers! :D
Three things to say: 1. This was so awesome! Thank you Ariel! 2. This wasn't that easy, I've taken a few years of piano classes and I had a hard time with this, especially with the listing of chords 3. No matter how long it takes me I can't wait to try this
I've been waiting forever for her to release a piano tutorial of "The Grey" I absolutely love this song and I sing it all the time. Ariel, continue to make more episodes about singing and such, I love those eps! It really inspires me and motivates me to try harder and haste to become a better singer.
Ariel, thank you by making this song, it helps me both forget my mistakes, my sins but also remember to not repeat them. It helped me a lot through actually losing someone and for that I thank you so much more than I can express in words
Oh my god. I've been waiting so long for this, and I didn't even know you were going to make it! I can't wait to start practicing (again because I had my own 'version' but it was not as good). Thank you so much for this!
Amazing!!! I loved it soooo much!!! I love this song, too. Its the first song by IFH I've ever listened too, and ever since, I've just fallen in love with IFN and its helped through some tough times! Thanks so much!
OMG. Thank you so much everyone. this is one of my favorite RU-vid channels i am so happy that it has gotten this far. and thank you Ariel for all that you have done to keep this channel going. you have helped me with so much. The Gray is actually the song that me and my boyfriend chose to be our song and i know how to play piano so i am going to learn this and play it for him. i may upload a video of me playing/singing it. but anyway i just wanted to say thank you.
I posted on your facebook page, but ill post here in case you didn't see. I am a junior in highschool and in my English class, we are doing an interview project about heroes and heroic figures in society. I chose you, out of anybody and everybody, and i was wondering if i could ask a few questions via email or facebook somehow, i would appreciate it. but i know you are pretty busy so if it's not possible, i understand. thank you. - bre
it starts off as a piano tutorial and turns into a how it should sound. For the bridge I would like some depth into what you are doing so i can match the keys.
Man I should really learn this!! I recently started playing keyboard so I can't play very well yet, but I might be able to do this if I practice enough. It's a bit unnerving that it's a video though. I find it difficult to learn from videos, haha (especially since chord names don't really mean anything to me as I don't know them)
I don't have a piano, but I have an acoustic I'm learning to play and would love to play it. Any guitar players here willing to give me suggestions or refs to learn from?
I'm so thankful for this tutorial! I've learned most of the song but the bridge part and just about everything after that (minor the chorus part that I already know how to do) is such a blur to me I can't seem to figure out what keys to press or what pattern to play in. Could anyone help me out?
i love this rel thanks so much I took my dads piano and I tried playing it and the battery's are not in it 😂haha but thank you for putting up the video anyway
Could you post a follow-up video styled like other piano tutorials where it shows what keys are being pressed, for people like me who don't know any chords or anything (:
Hi Ariel im a huge fan of icon for hire, your amazing your vocals and the music and of course the unforgetable lyrics that tackle big and important subjects. I love and listen all the time to almost all of your songs, theyve helped me battle depression and fight by myself to get out but i would like to request a song about how to continue life now that im not depressed, i am now not there, the cuts on my skin dont define me now, they dont make me, I made them but dont need them. I want to feel great and i would love a song that puts the hard behind you and is optimistic to the future, and also that helps me make and define myself as an ex- cutter and depressant and free from the chains that held me down Thanks so much if this will happen, i would love to see and hear an amazing song by you on this subject Keep on with the amazing work your incredible and im dying to buy the new album !!!
I’m doing this song as a solo for my choir class. But I can’t find any sheet music for it to give to my teacher, does anyone know of a website with the sheet music? I cannot find it at all. If anyone help me with that I would appreciate it immensely!
Yea, I was thinking the best way to make somethinng of your own, is by playing something you love, and than accidently do something you like and get caught up in it, ts kinda what happend with me and Yiruma a bit, idk, it's cool, it 's actually the reason I'm watching this video, haha:P
I can't see what she's playing when her hand movements aren't that big in the bridge. Can someone please sent the chords to me? It's for the right hand.
This video is so weird for me. The way I got to know Icon for Hire is I clicked on the nightcore version of this song. And then later I checked the band out then I found this channel and I've been binge-watching the videos for 2 days now. In that time I built up a completely different picture of Ariel. And now, seeing that picture and hearing the basics kinda confuses me a good way. :)
Akzidental_Intent Contralto is actually a longer term for alto, typically a little lower than alto for women. I think what you mean is mezzo soprano, or second soprano. That's typically in the middle between alto and soprano. But I'm pretty sure Ariel is soprano, maybe mezzo, but she definitely it has a much higher range.
Girl I love you but for the life of me I can't hear the notes when you sing, I can't see what you're playing during the bridge, and I don't know the names of these chords to figure it out on my own 🥲
