What a great dig! The object you found at abt 9:37 is the brass back plate from a drawer pull and is bent. It would have been more flat and had a brass bail pull with the little bolts to secure it to the drawer front. That style of pull is typically found on Hepplewhite and sometimes Sheraton furniture of the 1810-20 era. Thanks for taking us along!

Todd The glass thing you found is the base of a old oil lamp. I collect oil lamps and I have over 50 and I have found a lot of the bases that was broke off like yours .

The Deus 2 is an outstanding machine and you won’t be disappointed in it. Can’t go wrong. You found some amazing artifacts with it in this episode.

The shotgun barrel piece was my favorite. It would be cool to know the story. I think it was Tax collectors coming in and destroying it and a moonshine still. On a serious note, I hope you enjoyed the Deus 2. I had mine since they came out and I love it. It is a bit of a learning curve with the the ID's and Tones. For sure is a tonal metal detector. In time you will be able to heard round objects in the ground. I am in south central PA close to Gettysburg. Areas are loaded with iron and the Deus does a great job working the sites. Todd I think that the glass piece might be the base/pedestal for a cake plate.

We do love your show and dig sites and history. I just am wondering why you don't use the pinpointer in the dig area before you put shovel in to dig a plug? Artifacts seem to get struck with shovel alot. Would require stooping down an extra time and then standing up to dig. Maybe that's why. Just wondered.

The Enfield P53 is an incredible find. Just that piece is worth a good but if money. Chuck’s double barrel is one of the earliest models made. Great episode. By the way thanks for featuring the Deus. I’ve been contemplating buying one and this certainly is convincing.

This is the type of site I enjoy digging next to plowed fields.

The piece at 37:28 is a piece of suspender clip. Turn the picture around to read the name and picture "teeth" along the rough straight edge.

Todd you and Chuck pulled a lot out of that area. The glass piece looks like the bottom to cake dish pedestal. Loved the tools and relics. The brass handled looked hand forced and to a lark kettle that may have hung in a fire place? You did well trying out new equipment, change is good. Take care.👍👏😀

Enjoyed today. I like your sincere respect for the homesites you explore. Being out in the country in my youth are my fondest memories. Didn't have a metal detector but often turned up artifacts of times past,arrowheads were always a thrill,sometimes it was old insulators from telephone poles,I have some of glass but some are the brown crockery type,I think they are the nicest. I have several really nice small crocks used for food items and an old butter churn my Dad found. All these things came from along the creek that flows toward Boonesboro,my grand dad owned land along it for 70 years. There was an elderly couple that lived on the other side of the.creek and they still milked a cow churned butter and used oil lamps til they were in their 90s,used very little modern things even after their children and grandchildren wanted them to. Some of the nicest people you could ever meet. Stay safe and keep on digging, never know what you may find.

That cap shotgun could easily be civil war. If it was confiscated or captured, that could be the reason it was destroyed. It wouldn’t have to be a military confiscate, it could be civilian owed gun destroyed by military seizure too. Also I didn’t see that glass lid you found well, but it looked like it was a glass candle holder to me?

Just came across this video. I can’t get over that double barrel shotgun being found. Wow! And he left it behind? I hope by now he went back and got it. Who or what would damage a barrel like that if not the civil war.

That Double Barrel shot gun Barrel is very old it is a breach load it used primer caps like a cap and ball riffle. Thy were made from 1846 and were only made around 35 years then thy all went to the brass cartages . I may been used in the Civil War because a lot were used then .

The oval piece with the hole in it is a back plate to draw pull federal period circa 1790-1820 Nice dig Todd I always enjoy your shows and look forward to more

Confederate Calvary often used double barreled shotguns. Didn’t see the barrels up close. Probably modern but civil war is possible.

I just love digs like this back in the woods. The scenery is beautiful and I agree just getting out can be the treasure. The Deus seems to be impressive. Everyone who has one swears by them.

That oval thing looks like a woman's hail tie. They would put a carved stick or metal rod thru the holes
