We owned a hotel in the Marlborough sound called Furneaux Lodge. One of the tourist spots people used to visit when with us was the old antimony mines. One day we had a boat load of American tourists come in and one of them wanted to know what a bottle of pump was. So my brother a former car salesman (who could sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo) Told them that we called it pump because it was extracted from a deep well in one of the old antimony mines. That as it filtered thru the antimony it developed very strong aphrodisiac properties. Pump was the appropriate name to call this stimulating water drink. In this particular case the Americans purchased a case of it to take away with them. True Story.
