Next time you try and say your opinion, try and format it better. I can tell you didn't watch the video and just went to comments to say that the people are dumb for not liking this attempt at berserk, but Miura is the only one who can do it right, the novel is laughable at best, doesn't add anything and retracts more than it adds in fact. JoJo has random (out of canon) LNs with art by Araki himself. Hundreds of successful manga do actually. Berserk just got a worse one than likely any of them.

Araki also got some of the most influential and well regarded LN authors out there, Miura just gets some weirdo from Archive Of Our Own

This was so bad that I didn't even remember the CG anime that happened in 2017

The only good adaptation seems to be that obscure PS2 game that I don't think even got US release. The whole arc was rewritten to be more 'friendly' Man Himself rewrote it, so it's actually good. There was a dreamcast title too, which is the sole reason I got into the manga in the first place, and it's not bad at all, but it's also a standalone arc. Of course, he also worked on a rewrite for the '17 animu, and the hound villain was kinda shit, so I worry maybe he's turning into George Lucas in recent years...

@@VSPhotfries Oh yeah you're totally right, I guess I'm referring to the latest decade or so and all the absolute trash that SOMEHOW and unfortunately is supossed to represent Berserk (to this day I still almost throw up in my mouth just thinking about it yuck...) Lol I know what you mean about the George Lucas parallel, I guess being the most talented artist in the world doesn't stop Miura from the being the absolutely worst businessman in the world haha, sadly I'm kinda crying inside as I say that though... But from what I understand about the latest animation attempt; as he saw the trainwreck they'd turned it into he decided to make some last minute changes to two of the episodes in a last brave effort to save it, but then ofc the studio had to turn it into puke inducing surströmming anyway with their pathetic directional/animation/sound effects skills, it's heartbreaking when you think about it. Just imagine how truly EPIC it would've been to see Miura write NEW material for a WELL-MADE anime-adaptation. I actually think that (third, was it?) episode could've been something truly great, the premise itself hints at that pretty hard as Miura's writing kinda shines through sometimes, just so damn sad it got executed by absolute retards. Anyways I'm a Berserk nerd since way back so I couldn't resist getting both the games (bought the Dreamcast AND a Japanese PS2 respectively JUST to be able to play them 🤓) and yeah as you say they're both pretty good. First one very clunky controls/gameplay but nice piece of story that's actually canon within the time skip in the manga, written by the man himself and all. Interesting you got into the franchise threw this, cause it kinda felt like the most obscure adaptation for me at the time for some reason. And I gotta say I REALLY liked the PS2 game, even if it may be a bit dated on all technical aspects according to today's standards it STILL looks, sounds and FEELS 100 times better than anything else we got and tbh it's pretty fucking good in its own right too. Only thing that bugged me sometimes was the repetitive monster designs, especially at the last part where you're supossed to fight actual Apostles, but I guess that's just nitpicking, I was totally immersed anyway all the way threw, which felt kinda fulfilling. And I really like the the music in these games as well (Susumu Hirasawa ofc!), to the point where I actually had to get the official OSTs for them both lol... But yeah that's about it unless you count the relatively well-made '97 anime, considering the budget restraints too.

That's real interesting about the German translation. That's a lot more direct whilst highlighting the horrors of the scene without being unnecessarily smut and indulgent. The budget was SO DRY that they couldn't even animate it so they had to settle for a Light Novel.

Please, at least the '16-17 did follow the manga. They cut lot of stuff but still followed the manga.
