thank you, I started tank month ago because as DD my rotations really suck - tank I do fairly well with less effort and stress - and for first time in the game sometimes I get group compliments, lots of improvement still left but will get there with your vids and help
Great guide. This is nearly in direct alignment with my main and I highly recommend, though I'm only just now transitioning to infused+cost reduction. Never be afraid to set your rune down again if you move, it's so cheap and heals like crazy. If you're on PC, addons make this super fun and I find it to be very effective tank. I do not run Radiant Ward on dungeon trash, even though I LOVE getting that big dmg shield; living dark will keep you alive. I run caltrops, leash, and living dark on trash; the rest the same. You will not run out of stamina with repentance on trash. For bosses, I drop pulsar and repentance, and do slot Purifying Light, Ward and extended ritual. I DO use Ward Master CP (bosses only), and have for a few months now. I find it very effective as I'm nearly always covered by some sort of dmg shield, reducing ALL damage while blocking. Therefore, I tend to block a touch more on my templar than on my DK because of this reason. Never really have a Stamina issue from overblocking with sturdy. One action I'm going to explore after watching is seeing if I can work in a healing CP, as Lee is saying, which I have disregarded until now. HOT or AE. HOT could cover all of them plus Resolving Vigor (if needed). But AE could cover Ritual, which I do occasionally slot. I'm not an RP'er, per se, but I do enjoy when things align and feel right. Healing & magical barriers (shields/living dark/etc) are what make templars templars, imo. Don't be dissuaded by the old thoughts around templar tanking. ZOS really improved it with the tweaks they've made in the last year. Embrace the circles. So many circles. Oh one last thing. If you have a templar healer -- so what. Extended rituals stack. It's just sick HOTs for your team. Even though minor sorcery is covered by you both, still slot a Dawn's Wrath to keep your ultimate coming in through the passive.
Thank you for all the work you do! I learn so much from your videos, and not just about tanking. You do such a nice job of explaining why and how things work. I'm able to finally start grasping the reasons behind builds.

ESO does have the most entertaining tank system compared to other MMOs. I went as a Breton for my Templar Tank and Spank, mainly because of liking the race and that I wanted him to be a Knight, I've gone with him being a Tank and Spank so I aren't just stood there sponging, so far I am enjoying him for group and solo content.
Hey Lee, Using Tri Focus Passive in the DS line might be good for main tanking in raid if you're having issues with Stamina sustain, since the staff blocking isn't a huge loss in damage reduction from the shield/sword. couldn't you just swap bars to block on your magicka while your stamina recovers?
Not sure what you mean about saving a skill slot. You pull in enemies with Void Bash because its the best chain in the game since its an AoE chain, then you always have blockade slotted on every build anyway for your Infused/Crusher so that is on the ground and then Pulsar is your CC skill. If I used a different CC skill I wouldn't be saving any bar space, I would just be getting a CC skill that doesn't work. If you chain an enemy and use a Stun/Fear (Such as time stop) then it doesn't do anything, that's why you need an immobilisation which is what you get from Blockade/Pulsar.
@@TheTankClub ah ok I'm a newer tank just started tanking vet dungeons a few weeks ago. I figured you would be able to not slot wall or pulsar but I see you would use wall regardless so yea makes sense. I really have to farm the void bash I've been using rush of agony on jewlery/weapons farming vate has been such a pain.
Maybe an odd question, but how do you get your HUD to look this way? Is this a PC mod? Is it in the settings? I've just started playing so sorry If this is silly.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a (charged) shock enchant would only apply Concussed (and by extension Minor Vuln), but not Off Balance right? Off Balance should be caused by a lightning Wall of Elements hitting a Concussed target, not by Concussed itself.
Kind of similar to my templar tank though I was never a fan of living dark or repentance. I don't need the heals from LD as my 'heal' is my shield, and prefer p.light for the additional heal for group. Repentance, for me always seemed pointless. I rarely have stam issues don't need increased stam return out of combat and it is an unreliable group heal. I would prefer to actually slot a proper group heal. Confused with front pulsar and vate shield as doesn't that put immob on cd? I could well be wrong, but thought I had tested it, it is why I run caltrops for snare and breach on adds. (I will test this tomorrow) Interesting video, though, have not been using Naz on the Templar tank may start that. Also had a lot of fun recently using PB as a 'debuff' on trash, so the DDs don't need to wear it. As templars can apply up to 4 instances of this a second while healing, it makes us often the best person to apply it(never seen anyone else do this). Oh, I always have spirit mastery and master ritualist for pugs. Saved a lot of vet pugs from wipes.
So when you pull enemies with Vateshran Void Bash set that is a pull. Pulled enemies can be immobilised but they can't be feared or stunned which is why using Pulsar to achieve the immobilisation along with 6 other buffs and debuffs works better than anything else for crowd control. Using Caltrops is another option mainly if you use PA.
I want to make high elf tank (its my healer character, so want to play with same character as tank too) my resistances are maxed out at 18K are there any champion points i can use? I followed Templar Guardian video , block mitigation is at 72%
