The Gunpowder Works

What a fantastic place so beautiful, great walk & video.

Cosawes woods was the first place to produce gunpowder in 1809. Benjamin Sampson thought this a good idea and opened kennal vale in 1812. Sampson had previously been an agent for perran foundry, so I bet some of there water wheels did get fitted at kennal mill. It’s said that the kennal river turned 40 water wheels before it ran into devoran creek. By 1824 they were making 3 to 4 thousand Barrels of powder a year in this little valley. 360 showed it off well!👍
