Today, we’re making the Gunshop Fizz! You may wonder, “What is this drink?”. I did too (I’d never heard of a cocktail that called for Peychaud’s bitters as its base spirit). I foolishly questioned if it would work, but my doubts were put to rest when I had this drink that’s built in the style of a classic Pimm’s Cup. This is a complex cocktail that is brilliantly balanced, and I don’t know that there is a redder drink out there. Created in 2009 by Kirk Estopinal and Maks Pazuniak, the Gunshop Fizz was named in honor of the pharmacy owned by the creator of Peychaud’s bitters, Antione Amédée Peychaud (now an antique gun and sword shop located in New Orleans’ French Quarter). If you’re intrigued even a little bit, you have to try this one. Cheers!
