My old boss, the guy who fired me!!! Just bought a Supercharged Nissan 370Z... meh...
In todays video I meet up with the guy who fired me from my full time job! He just bought a 2009 Nissan 370Z equipped with a Stillen supercharger! Unfortunately neither of us were too impressed with this car.
The tune Stillen provides for this kit actually doesn't allow the torque converter to get full pressure on automatics Z's, therefor it practically destroyed itself. As you see in the video the trans slips a lot!
The good news is, the car is in great mechanical shape, and once they swap a new transmission or torque converter, this thing will rip!
We did a few pulls in the car, and it hooked up a few times, and I could feel some serious power, but in the meantime she needs some work! We almost got stranded on the highways when under normal cruising the trans gave out and causes the engine to rev up. We had ZERO forward momentum at that time! Shut the car off for 10 mins to cool, down and were able to baby it home.
The guys at SOHO Motorsports re-mapped the engine and transmission, so once the fault parts are replaced, it'll run buttery smooth.
Is it awkward encountering my old boss?? No lol. While he did fire me, he new I had my heart and mind set on something other than the company he built from scratch. And I did! He's building his business, and I'm building mine.
Awesome to collaborate and get access to the insane inventory at Champion! Seriously the best used car dealer I've encountered.
While this Z has some small issues, they actually take to the time to take a 'project car' like this supercharged 370Z and get it in tip top shape so another car enthusiast can buy it and enjoy it!

This is why you have to be so careful buying an already modified car. Chances are they are getting rid of it due to a problem they don't want to deal with. My personal favorite line is "just recently built" or the always great "just recently refreshed", which reads to me as "the build went wrong, and I now hate this car, please buy my problems....."

@@EndofDays213 The R35 is DCT, that's a much better auto trans than the one in the Z. The one in this Z can barely handle the 400rwhp in this video to the point where it broke lmao.

Honestly Brian, you are truly an inspiration. From being fired from a job, riding in the same car w/ the one who fired you, but yet are still pursuing and living out your dream. You and your former boss seem to have a great business relationship and friendship it seems like. I hope you did not get stranded in the Z, and yeah I agree with you, there is always construction going on in North Carolina.

I'm thinking about doing a mod on my 2014 Jetta, I'm thinking LED headlights and changing the bulbs in the fog lights to LEDs. I think it might be too much LED since I've got manufacturer standard LEDS where my rear license plate is. Have a pleasant Resurrection weekend.

I had a black 66 plate black nismo with twin turbo, Stillen straight pipes, Armytrix exhaust, red gtr ignition button, rear tail in black and red detailing. It was such a head turner and the performance was immense. Look just like the supercharge in the dyno. I bought it from a dealer who.just didn't know.what they had. I paid 24k UK. Sold it in a month because it made me so motion sick, something I've not experienced before. I really miss it now. Now have a Cupra 290. Plan to upgrade soon.

Thats why i upgraded my torque converter to 4000rpm high stall and exedy clutches with upgraded valve body.

tony19921992 It was the pressure supplied to the torque converter. It was at 85% when it needs to be at 100%

Dont listen to these turbo guys. Im with you with the supercharger. Its more reliable and you can push high whp and on low boost. They have one thats 750whp running on low 8lbs of boost on the stillen sc.

@@andywu8558 that transmission needs a remapping for the automatic mode and fast actuators to make those shifts tighter with that new power. A lesson learned on my 350Z. The rear end can handle the tightness and power just do a upgrade on the rear end bushing and you should be fine.👍

Manual>automatic the downfall of having an auto with a supercharger is before you even install that SC you have to upgrade your trans. It's like for manual, before doing the SC upgrade your clutch. Love my air to air upgrade for my stillen

Ali A personally I don’t think it’s worth it, however i don’t know your financial situation so it’s hard to say. I enjoy these cars how they are with some exhaust work and maybe upgrade brakes but that’s me.

if you do get a supercharger buy the kit from topgunz he has the air to air inter cooler which adds crazy power you should look up okc boostdz to see some results. he got 700whp with the kit and additional mods he has a whole build list in the description on his IG: evanosteenz34

For the GTR, the stage 1 tune is a stock car. The stage 3 tune is full bolt ons. My car is stage 3

Xander I’m not impressed with the power of this one because the tune from Stillen destroyed the trans and doesn’t put power down. Once it has a new trans, I’m sure it’ll be an impressive car

They are great cars we just weren't impressed by the car the way it is now. Once the tune and transmission issues are resolved then this car will be amazing.
