Beautiful forest... I couldn't ride that trail in this lifetime. Scary scary scary... But I can watch someone else do it.. 😁You did great! And that bike is sweeeeeet!
Awesome video, congrats for beating that trail. I rode Fromme in Sep this year and chose my trails from watching your videos. Thanks and cheers from the Basque country!
Nice work! That's the first trail I ever rode in Vancouver, and I'll never forget that ride -- it was raining lightly and almost too foggy to see where I was going. What a magical experience. I cleared everything except that rock roll, which, as you said, is quite scary. I've gone back and ridden the trail several other times, and I can't remember if I ever cleared that rock roll. No camera really gives it justice. It's quite high, and the transition from skinny to rock is very abrupt. It's VERY easy to imagine yourself catching a pedal or chainring on the top of that rock and then taking a nosedive into the ground from 8 feet up...
4:40 is where the old guy from uncut media fell off to the left...he was lucky not to get impaled on that tree !! great vid he also measured the incline on your white whale and I think it 69 degs !
Great video. I really like the fire road hyperlapse. Was that video using your instamic or the hero 7 internal? I sounded really good, but not quite as crisp as the usual from the instamic so I assume the hero.
I was using the Instamic for this one. The video I"m posting on Wednesday is straight Hero 7 audio. The Hero 7 is pretty good, but I think I'm going to stick with the Instamic. The reason it sounds different is because I'm playing around with the EQ. I boosted the bass more for this video and cut off some of the high frequencies.
great video , loved the 180' turn on the skiiny !!! got a day in north Vancouver at the start of my hols , if you only had a day on Froome what would you suggest I ride ??
Nice work! Have you given the second skinny section a try? (the optional line after that first one you took a second run at) I've still not managed to clean either...
Did you get some condensation on the inside of your lens cap? I ask because it happened to me last ride giving a similar effect. I had to twist it off and fix mid ride. Good work on the skinnies. I avoid them like the plague, never had an XTR derailleur before and want to keep it for a while, haha.
Ya I did. I didn't notice until I got to the bottom. It seems to happen with elevation change and colder conditions. Ha, I actually just snapped my XT derailleur off, back to the SLX.
I never noticed until the bottom of the best part of the trail, too far to go back up. It's not that noticeable on your video though. I only picked up on it because it just happened to me. Funny about the derailleur. Painful downgrade. I don't usually worry about breaking parts but when I heard the replacement cost.......
Hey VanCan, awesome videos man. Was wondering if I could pick your brain for a second. I am trying to decide between the Capra AL or Capra AL Comp. When you are climbing up the roads like the one at the beginning of the video to start the trails, is it easier with those lockout/pedal modes that come with the lyric RCT3 fork/SD RC3 shock(maybe you don't even use the settings idk). The Non Comp version does not have those settings and not sure if using those settings is going to make a huge difference or not. I don't want to hate myself on the uphills on some of these fire roads.
Thanks for the fast reply, yeah some people were telling me that they don't even bother with the settings and not to waste 500 dollars on the same fork and rear shock for just some added settings adjustments but idk lol. Even harder decision is 29 or 27.5 haha
It doesn't look like fun to me. I can see how someone might enjoy it but I prefer speed and jumps instead of slow descent requiring a bit different set of skills. I hope you didn't ride it alone. Deserted trail and if you injure yourself might take a while to get help.
Keep up the great work man. Been watching your stuff since the beginning, you're definitely going places with your content. I see you doing vids with BKXC, Loam Ranger, BCPOV, Seth, etc in the future! And as always, nice riding 🤙
