I go to DSPGaming first to find out if i should buy my game. Thank you DSP for making my life easier.

Most of the problems on PS3 have been fixed. It doesn't matter what platform it is on, 360, PC, or PS3, the game is incredible. Absolutely amazing.

The graphics on my 360 look brilliant. Especially since I got my 33" HD TV, as before I was playing on an older Lodos TV and it looked good on that. So it looks good on anything.

This was probably the best game review I've ever seen. nice job dude.

I do agree somewhat. (like that alchemy trick that had you doing millions of damage.) However I would still say smiting or enchanting is simply natural progression. Any average Joe would think to improve their gear by crafting. That is in no way exploiting. It's strange when people mention modding the game or even playing naked with no followers to make the game hard but the point is if you must impose handicaps or mods then the base game simply isn't very hard. Not like that's a major fault.

I personally love them equally for their own reasons. Dark Souls for the excellent combat, challenge, and heart beating (literally, I thought my heart was ripping out of my chest in the four kings battle) boss battles. Skyrim for its open and immersive world/exploration, incredibly wide options/methods of battle, and looting/collecting.

Phil, I think you forgot to mention the whole conflict behind the Stormcloacks and the Empire. It's actually a main quest of Skyrim.

I noticed on the 360 that sometimes when you get stuck between some rocks, the game will automatically clip you through the rocks

I'd like to know if Phil has a job besides Playthroughs and stuff. I like watching his playthroughs a lot and so far I didn't get a clue of what he's doing. I don't know if it is just me but because of the fact that I like to see him play games I'd appreciate some personel things to be said. To not only make it seem like a job to him but also to reallyy like sharing stuff with people (which I btw think that he does). I hope you get my point right :) regards

WOW! that is exactly how I played my first playthrough right down to the same race as me

Phil about the voice acting they do have a 70 or so voice actors in the game. The reason why you get an impression of less voice variety is because the voices weren't spread evenly to the NPC's and the voice actors don't have that much distinction to their voices.

Phil, you're forgetting the ability for people to add mods to the game. As they did with Oblivion, Skyrim has a huge modding community with new spells, armors, weapons, actions, places to go and more. The ability to download the mod from steam and just seeing for instance better looking npcs as simple as that is a huge positive to the pc version.

Ive played for 200 hours now. And by what i see in the game books, im at 2/3 of doing absolutely everything the game has to offer.

At one point I was fighting a frost dragon, a blood dragon, and a dragon priest at the same time. I killed them all. like. a. boss. Then an ancient dragon came down and I killed that one. And then, out of nowhere, a wolf comes up behind me and bites me in the ass. And I die... no keyboard face could depict my face when that happened.

just a tip, when you walk into a dungeon the enemies automatically lock to your level for the entire game. So for example, if you go into a dungeon at level 5, the enemies in that specific dungeon stay at that level. So you could come back to that dungeon at level 30 or so and just kick everybody's asses. like if this helps

You could have went on Ultra settings and see if it lagged =/ The auto detected settings were High for me but Ultra ran similarly smoothly

Skyrim is one of my favourite games ever and 9.5 is the correct score. no game is perfect, and no game ever will be, gives it a good shot though. great review

Ever since I took an arrow to the knee, I haven't stopped playing Skyrim.

The great thing about Skyrim is that you can be 100 in EVERYTHING. you can be an assassin-warrior-mage-alchemist-blacksmith-enchanter-snaketounger-etc. within one playthrough. i heart Skyrim :)

For all the playthrough, Phil never took an arrow in the knee.

There is a mod for the PC version on the skyrimnexus called follower tweaks that allows you to make your follower use any weapon/armour/clothing you give them regardless of stats. A very handy mod for those of you who wish bethesda shipped the game with more customization options for followers.

@DSPGaming A great example of a game breaking PS3 bug is after the Companions' quest "Blood's Honor". Every character in that guild will be stuck in a permenate "mourning" state and you will not be able to continue any Main Companions quests. I also read this is in PC, but it is much more fatal on Console.

It's ironic DSP just starts talking about dragons in his review and a dragon just came and attacked me

@ponomar Click the playlists on his channel and it tells you the total time. Look at both of the playthrough playlist parts and add up the total time!

Another reason to get the PC version is that there is a very active modding scene for the game on PC. Better textures, fixes that allow you to equip your followers better, hell, there's even an attempt to add multiplayer.

this might be a dumb question but if im in the empirial legion i think thats what its called (the group in solitude) can i be in the thieves guild too?

@MegaZero76 YES it installs directly to your harddrive so it accesses that and that if so much faster than a cd

Awesome review Phil, as always..One thing however, about the voice actors, they actually had over 70 voice actors in this game and not 20

@samipod42 u cant quick save on consules but it auto saves and u can adjust how often it happens in settings

Ok. so if there is 400 parts to the playthough and lets say their are roughly 11 minutes per part 400x11=4400 Minutes, if you divide it by 1 hour (60 minutes) that means DSP roughly played 73.3 hours, repeating of course. Keep in mind this is a rough estimate so if im wrong then i must have took an arrow to the knee :D

the wait command is for u to use, tell the follower to wait while u go ahead to disactive it . and about the armor , they are followers , not slaves... why should u be able to choose what they wear

Just to let you know, you can take armor away from your companions, after doing so, you can put a armor you want them to equip to have it equip for sure, I hope you see this but I can understand your frustration.

the only thing wrong is that their actually around 70 voice actors some are only used in for important roles and some like the guards are used over again

Wait... This guy has uploaded 400 videos of just Skyrim since it got released? o_o Now that's some goddamn dedication right there. Must have a beast of a computer as well to handle encoding/recording/etc.

I know you say Skyrim isn't for FPS players but surprisingly a lot of FPS-player made the jump to RPG's just for this game.

@r3strict3dd TES series was never designed for difficulty. It is very easy to breeze through the game by powerleveling Smithing + Enchanting or something. But if you want a challenge, you can set your own limitations (only 3 potions per fight or whatever). And if you have it on PC, you can already mod it to have 10x tougher dragons and what not.

@leonkenneddy That might be great but it also lowers the playability of other playthoughs unless you limit your character to certain types of things.

Anybody remember when Phil started the Dark Brotherhood quest line?

@Gahro What game are you talking about? Because in Skyrim you can't get past level 75

@heroofmask To turn into a werewolf you have to complete the Companions quest line. Or you can get bitten by a werewolf. To be a vampire you go into a vampire nest and have vampires attack you until you contract vampirism.

Also unarmed combat is possible but requires effort to acquire special enchant and spec into heavy armor tree..

if you are stuck can't you fast travel? i never got stuck before

The only really annoying issue with the PC version is, if you don't use a 360 controller, the system of equpping and unequipping. you sometimes have to go through your inventory menu to manually unequip an item before you can use magic, and vice versa.

What if you get bugged/stuck inside a dungeon?

Hey Phil, if you're categorizing quest, you forgot about Jarls/town quests and stormcloak/imperial questline!

@acadm No. You get XP based on the skills/ things you use. For example, hitting 100 enemies with a one handed sword will give you level up xp as well as skill points for boosting your one handed skills.

and the craziest thing about this game is that modders are gonna make this game 100 times better

Playing as the sneaking backstab assassin character, I found dragons got much much harder as I got to a higher level. Can't really sneak up on something that's flying around. Leaves me with having to use my poor archery skills to attack it and if there isn't any reliable cover I'm completely boned.

Just a note, imperials in skyrim don't have speech bonuses.

As to customizing your followers, if you take what you dont want them to wear something take it away from them then they will equip the thing that you gave them. There are always a way if you think it through.

The daedra are kinda different gods. They each offer a unique item or artifacts in the game (with a quest usually).

I watched the whole thing. Christmas holidays = too much free time.

I've played this game for about 150+ hours...then I played Dark Souls, never played Skyrim again...

I have this game on the PS3, and there have been no bugs at all. I uploaded part of my playthrough on my channel, and the freeze that happens on that first part, before I downloaded the patch was the only REAL game breaking bug I've experienced. I did get stuck in between 2 big ass rocks not too long ago though...

i like skyrim and i have done alot alot of side mssions and now im foucsing on the quest imm passed meeting the greybeards but now im like i dont wanna do this does it get alot better

@KasaruKisuke the radiant engine ones are those ones i think, the actual side missions that dont repeat are the ones i mean

How do you quicksave on PS3? I have to constantly pays and go over to save and it takes a while to do it.

HOLY fucking shit. He actually gave a game a 9.5, I truly agree with his review. I feel that after playing a good 50 hours of it it is still one of the best games I have played.

dsp u forgot to mention the problem when u try to back track in tunnels and your followers are in the way u can always shout them away

There will definitely be a mod in the future which allows full access to Companion Inventories, even random NPCs.. Too bad that the mod kit wasn't released before Phil finished his playthrough.

@Plingsel He killed Lydia himself if memory serves by wild swing or spell, Illya(sp?) due to those axes or such in the ratway or whatever place. xP

@Jericholic129 It depends. What didn't you like about Fallout 3? The setting or the design? If you didn't like the design then chances are you won't like Skyrim.

It's great on XBOX barring minor freezes. Then again, my XBOX is rather old. I sincerely love this game.

@HitandRun124 Actaully its a side quest because it doesnt fall along the lines of being a dragonborn

i enjoyed skyrim but the main complaint i had about the game is that 90% of the quests are fetch quests that involve locating an item, hoping you can fast travel to the location, and then bringing back the item to the person, to give bethesda credit the quests usually had interesting back stories but the concept of retrieving items did get tiresome after awhile

yeah i got stuck between a invisible wall and a rock when i fell/slid down a water fall had to reload cuz i have a 360 =/

@DSPGaming Check the credits. This game had 70+ different voice actors.

@HitandRun124 He mentioned the Civil War. Plus thats not THE main quest. Theres only one main quest.

I thought that the voice acting was amazing. They had about 70 something voice actors i think. But i thought it was cool that every character said had their own unique line for so many situations (eg. you approaching them with fire, them seeing dragons, them seeing you kill a dragon) ONTOP of their regular dialogue. Each character has a consistent voice and thats what i love (not like oblivion where beggars would switch from an extreme cockney accent to american in a second).

you forgot about the stormcloak and imperial side quest storyline.

Can you guys imagine? "Skyrim's awesome! I love it!" "Too bad. 6 years of jail for you."

For what it's worth, I have it on the PS3 and I haven't encountered any major problems. Some lag sometimes, but nothing major.

The voice acting variation is better than in Oblivion where you could be in an area with maybe 10 people and hear the same voice from 2-3 different people. But Bethesda definitely should have expanded the voice cast to at least 50-100 people instead of my rough estimate of about 25 voice actors.

Does anybody know the part where his follower kills herself?

When I first heard "The Elder Scrolls" I was like "Whatever. Sounds stupid. Growing up, I loved adventure games and always played them. So I played Skyrim when my brother brought it home. My reaction to its sense of adventure was "Yes. Yes! YES!! This is exactly what I've always wanted in a game." How wrong I was to say it was stupid as a kid. I heard Oblivion was released on console. Maybe I'll pick it up someday.

Not all of the dragons are easy. The ancient dragons are the only ones that can provide a real challenge
